You are the reason that I grow Supremo. I will always, always have them in my garden now. I never thought I would make pickles until I was tired of canning! Thanks!

If you like a super crispy very mild cucumber try the Armenian variety. I even pickle them and they are very good. 👍

Mini Cucumbers are Persian Beit Alpha (a.k.a. Lebanese) Cucumber

I just had some of those mini cucumbers from the store for supper and my pickling cucumbers. My cucumber salad combined with onions and my homegrown tomatoes, yummy. My Boston picking and National pickling did better than the straight eight slicing cucumbers this year. I'm watching for the pickle worm to show up.

Last year I ran a test between Beit Alpha, Monica and a Japanese long slicer and the Beit Alpha outproduced everything by ten fold. Mid Kentucky, the heat in the dead of summer stops almost everything from doing much...but they did keep on producing. So this year for relish, pickles and eating I'm doing Beit Alphas...and now some new ones from you all to try on another trellis. Thanks for all you do LDF!

I grew "homemade pickles" variety last year. Made the best dill pickles ever. I'm growing those plus national pickling and pick a bushel this year to compare flavors. I prefer a pickling variety for fresh eating and salads anyway.

I’ve taken to growing Armenian cucumber (actually a variety of muskmelon but tastes identical to a traditional cuke). The thrive in the hot/dry summers of the Sacramento Valley where other cukes can struggle a bit.

Last year I planted several types of cumbers but my big surprise was the non-cucumber, Armenian Pale Green Cucumber! Wow, hot weather no problem, crispy and delicious, pickles were fabulous, salads and just sliced with salt and pepper.

I bought your Supremos this year to try. I loved the Max Packs Last year. Bought some more of those. I love pickles! Pickles are trumping tomatoes this year. I have a blight problem I'm working through this year. Growing more determinates to get in there and out of there with Hossinator, RedSnapper and Roadster. Also got my heirloom favorites.

I've been growing Katrina as my go to cucumber for 5 years now. using the same hortonova netting you do and also have been hanging it off Of 1/2" electrical conduit in my fruit cage. They are very productive for me in my high desert So-Cal garden and usually reach about 7' in height. Since you carry it now I'll purchase from you in the future to help support your channel. Happy Gardening.

What kind of trellising will you do on the cucumbers?

Hey Travis, I am curious about the Katrina cucumber. I see Johnny's has them as an F1 seedless variety. Looks like 50 seeds is $32 and there is a small packet for $8.25. I am guessing the small packet has about 10-15 seeds. For me just two people I bet 2 plants is more than enuf for us so this could last me 4-5 seasons. Not a bad deal. Can you do a follow up in a month or so because way up here in the frozen north I will still be able to order and grow them still this year. I have found a couple I like with seeds and have been growing them saving seeds each season and they are doing real well. I am interested in the seedless variety as another option. Great video Cya next time, Steven

I've been buying mine from Johnny's for 5 years and get 10 seeds in a pack for 8+ dollars. As an anecdotal kinda warning I noticed that one season they occasionally would have some developed seeds when I grew them with regular pickling (national) cucumbers. Busy bees. That stopped when I stopped growing regular seeded types. They seeds germinate in about 3-7 days and I've even started them inside and transplanted them when the soil warmed up with no problems. After about 2 months I start another seed to keep having pickles until a killing frost. Hope this helps and Happy Gardening.

It's strange that fresh cukes gives me a migraine, but pickles don't. I really like fresh cukes in salads and just sliced up with a little salt and pepper, but as much as my mouth waters for them it's not worth a migraine. I'm growing pickling cukes though.

I have been told if you dont remove the male flowers once the cucumbers start forming (after polination) then the cucumbers will be bitter, what do you think of that theory?

I’ve heard if you plant seeded cucumbers beside seedless, it will give you bigger seeds in the seedless ones. You’re suppose to separate them. Is that true?

If a parthenocarpic (pat) variety is pollinated by another cucumber (pol), it can create odd-shaped fruit from some of my research anyway. I wouldn't grow pats next to pols.

Aphids always attack my cuc plants no matter the variety. I kill them with rubbing alcohol but they keep coming back. If they aren’t killed by aphids they get disease. Totally frustrated with cucs.
