We Found This Abandoned Hospital That Had Everything Left Inside

In this video were gonna take you along with us to explore inside an abandoned military hospital that has some rather compelling history.
The hospital opened its doors back in 1909. The majority of the cost coming from appropriated funds set aside by Congress after seeing the yellow fever epidemic cripple American soldiers as they returned from their overseas deployment.
Since opening in 1909, the hospital went on to treat hundreds of thousands American soldiers, as well as various high ranking politicians and elected officials. The hospital was also where physicians, nurses, corpsmen, and field medics were trained in military aid and health care. The hospital was in operation for more than 100 years before it finally closed its doors in 2011.
The hospital property itself almost looks like a college campus, with over 100 acres and twenty something buildings lining a wide sloping grassy landscape. The multiple buildings on the property contain pretty much any thing and everything that one would need to be treated for medical reasons, as well as research, training, education, recreation, housing, administration, and much more.
Located along tall oak tree lined pathways, sits an old, brick structure with massive stone columns and arched entryways. This was the one abandoned hospital building that we were able to explore. From what we have been able to research and gather, it seems that this building would have been the medical and research facility.
The medical and research facility was a super unique explore. The building was massive, historic, and had a lot of old outdated equipment leftover. Located within The building were several operating rooms, an radiology room, an auditorium, and multiple laboratories used for medical research. With this building being abandoned and neglected for over 10 years, you could really see the deterioration and natural decay throughout.
As of 2022, the hospital campus, including the research and medical building, were sold off are currently being developed into mixed use development for residential retail and commercial space.

I used to work on that campus. 😰 Not in any of the buildings you were in, but based on the fire truck, the historical dates, and the mixed-use plans...yeah. I know that place. And it gets all four seasons there, so no surprise it decayed that fast.

Trying to imagine the millions and milliions of dollars spent on equipment and technologies that were left to decay is just so infuriating. The waste of so much money on these abandoned facilities and their contents is unimaginable.

This particular building was closed before 2011, when I was there in 2007 it had already been closed for some time.

If I remember correctly it was shut down due to asbestos & the cost of remediation exceeded the cost of a new building.
