Ahh the magic of Stern.... Everything about these two cabinets tells you all about Stern Electronics from the olden days. You're looking at the life of the Dracula Pinball Cabinet in two Machines. the wood rail tells you the nicer looking one is the older of the two and the Metal rail is the newer one. Paint wearing tells you about when Stern changed their Play Field paint and why they chose to change their Play field paint. This is literally when Stern was establishing their fondly remembered Quality control.

I really enjoyed this video. From Joe assembling the machines that started out looking like coffins. Then Ron going over the details (my wife is also a Libra, so I know all about trying to make choice) and then the timeline detective work of when they were built. I also like both Frankenstein and Dracula books. To be honest I am a bit jealous of you eye for colors. I normally don't see the different tones/colors in the paint. Finally Donnie is doing a awesome job (well maybe the other guys LOL) with the concrete and brick work.

I believe that Dracula is the only pinball game that I ever scrapped over the last 40 years. It was in horrible shape and no one wanted it. However; all the parts to the game are out in my garage in cardboard boxes. I will check. I know that there are some plastics there. I don't know. I scrapped it more than 20 years ago.

I have an Australian LAI one. The serials are not stamped on the cab. I thought the serial may have been on the cardboard tags on the wiring (there are some in the head and cab) but they look more like staff inspector numbers as one is 2600 and the other was 3620. It has the metal 'tab' slides, not the wood. I can say the trident was overlapping the drac builds as my coin box harness has a trident factory tag on it...

The SB-100 sound boards in those Draculas might be the high pitched tone version (annoying) or lower pitch version (less annoying). Your Hot Hand video has the high pitched version. Pinwiki has instructions for converting to the less-annoying version, and gives the frequencies you can adjust the sound pots to for proper pitch.

Makes sense to me why the more worn machine was in more complete condition, it was probably earning tin for the operator for longer, while the 'nicer' machine was probably pulled out of service earlier on following some sort of malfunction, and they started to cannibalize it for parts.

It is clock number. Back in the day when you had to punch in a clock to start and stop work. Your time card was kept in a numbered slot in a huge wall mounted rack system. That was the only way the company knew who you were.

What a different video this is. Two Draculas at the same time. Wow. Many of the Sterns have similar stuff. The dead bumper at the top reminds me of Meteor, which is also similar to Stars. Sterns from this time usually played very well, and that’s what I’m expecting from this one. Great choice for some vids. Thanks for posting Ronnie.

Cool, I used to have one of those and Sea Witch in my living room about 27 years ago. I bought them both for about $350 each, and they were in mint condition at the time. It's crazy how much these are worth today compared to back then... I traded both of them for a Swords of Fury machine, which I still have and still love. I also have a Tales from the Crypt now, but the DMD isn't getting any info for some reason anymore... I bought a new color DMD for it and flashed it, and it lights up with the REV and stuff, but still not getting any info from the machine, yet the machine plays and sounds all normal... Anyway, I kind of miss my Dracula and Sea Witch machines.
