ADD is no longer used as a diagnosis! It’s all under ADHD, but you can be inattentive or hyperactive types, or a mix. Obviously there’s still people who have the ADD diagnosis, so some people still use the term, but they don’t actively label people as ADD anymore. It’s just ADHD now!
@39Fanclub8 ай бұрын
It also depends on where you're from. I got diagnosed in Germany officially for ADHD, but my psychiatrist explained that I fit the ADD criteria much more. So if you're in it to win it, have a serious conversation with your boyfriend about what each of you wants and if you're on the same page then and you both want to get married then just do it and stay faithful and after that, whatever happens, you will be happy

On that Gen Z thing: I am 2006-born and can confirm that I am basically of the last year that experienced a time prior to YT and mass internet like today. My first device was an iPad mini that I got in 6th grade, and it was shared with all the siblings. No phone until HS. I remember watching the Star Wars prequels and liking them as a kid, with the Phantom Menace specifically being on a VHS tape. I remember not being allowed to use the internet (including stuff like YT) until I was basically teenager, I remember playing Minecraft on the 360 at a friend’s house (we were a Wii and Wii U establishment), I actually remember my first console being an N64. Doing a sport every year (usually every season) was absolutely a requirement, and only went away when I took up music and joined a band. I genuinely believe that I am a far better person for all of these pre-modern aspects of my young life, and seeing even just the people one year younger than me puts that into sharp focus. Seriously, at least where I’m at, the line between finding things like Skibidi toilet insane and annoying rather than (somehow) actually ironically funny lies between 06 and 07. I could see arguments for a year or two before, as I’m pretty sure that my household was just very conservative and strict about moving into this tech era, but my point still stands. Schlatt was 100% correct, the difference between old Gen Z and tail-end Gen Z is probably more defined than the line between most officially defined generations.

I think we all want to put the line right after the year we were born, but as an 07er myself I think it’s probably after 2007 that the divide exists. Most of us are sophomores in high school right now, you only see the brain rot humor if you go to freshman classes. I grew up with a Wii and a 3DS that got stolen. Games, movies, music: all on CD. Otherwise I would have to find a book or go outside and wander through the woods/neighborhood. I think for my year it’s a lot of how your parents raised you what side of the divide you lie on. My sister was born in 2004, so a lot carries over from her experience into mine. Also, I’ve never seen anyone have gen z go until 2012, I always saw it end at 2009. I would write more but I have a final exam in 80 minutes

Back from my exam, it went fairly well I definitely think there’s two sides to Gen Z. 1996-2002, then 2003-2009. Anything after is Gen A. Earlier Gen Z was still in the transition to digital existence, and while a lot of the second part of Gen Z grew up having good technology, a lot of our experience is heavily dependent on how parents did things. I personally didn’t see a lot of phones in schools until 8th grade, the year we came back from Covid. While a lot of things between the two halves are the same, I think being in high school in the early 2010s vs the early 2020s has a massive difference that’s really hard to describe One last thing: why does it feel so weird to be in the same genertio as Schlatt? He’s like 7 years older than me but he seems so much older

Schlatts advice on whether to go to your dream school or cheaper back up school is so so good. I hope atleast a few people listen. Money doesn't buy you happiness, but constant stress about how to pay bills will make you fucking miserable. Sometimes there are benefits of the dream school that could outweigh the back up school, but only if it is something you truly couldn't get from the back up. Such as a career in politics that requires a lot of relationships and fostering connections with those that you wouldn't get access to at the back up. Otherwise save yourself thousands, future you will be thankful you did. Community colleges are a great place to get some classes out of the way before transferring, saivng a lot too. I wish younger me got advice like Schlatts. Now I'm in my 30s starting from scratch to get my degree in a stable field that provides excellent income. The jobs are in high demand and will continue to be so for a long time. I truly wish I'd gone this route 10 or 15 years ago.

37:30 I’ve done a ton of research into ADHD so I figure this might help clear things up :) Add - it’s typical used for none outwardly disruptive or hyperactive people with ADHD, although it’s not referred to as ADD anymore, it’s referred to as inattentive ADHD, Because the hyperactivity is internal. On the other hand theres Hyperactive ADHD which is your more typically diagnosed ADHD because people with hyperactive ADHD tend to be more disruptive.

37:03 Hey boys! Psych major here :) ADD is no longer classified as a mental illness. It is now just ADHD with different add ons I guess is the best way to put it 😅 pretty much you are diagnosed with either one of these things: ADHD predominantly inattentive, ADHD predominately hyperactive-impulsive, ADHD combined, and ADHD not otherwise specified. Hope this helps :))

I was literally just about to write about how the term was changed and combined. I was diagnosed with ADD in the late 00s, then by the mid 10s they’d labeled me with ADHD. Yall bring up a good point about the generations. The Gen Z generation period had progressed so much in that time. My older brother was also born on 98 and I am an 02 liner. Within those 4 years, a lot had changed already with the stuff that my brother would describe, even though we grew up basically the same. My youngest brother is an 07 liner which is weird to me because I honestly cannot fathom people born after like 03 which another brother of mine was born. For some freak reason, I cannot compute that 03-05 are like 18-20. When I hear 05, 06, 07 I just assume they are 12, but my 07 brother is turning 17 this year. Idk, its a weird discussion for genzers to have when it comes to children if they even wanna start a family because we were the first children to ever take on the internet and there were so many things that can go wrong. It's easier for us to say "oh yeah I'm not gonna let my kid have a phone until high school" when we were literally in that same situation. I am also not into giving kids electronics until they are a little bit older, I see it first hand because I work with kindergarten kids and the school issues them ipads and the older kids get chromebooks. I am a believer of having kids advance along with technology but when youre 1 and you get an ipad... thats something else. It's crazy where the kids these days are getting ipads and they dont even know that the ipod existed. We advanced too fast where like yall said where my 25 year old brother, my 21 year old self, and 16 year old brother, and my 12 year old neice are in the same generation? no, that doesnt seem right.

i was listening to this episode while playing minecraft at 1AM and i turned off minecraft to go to bed. i was still watching the episode about to pull it up on my phone. and all of a sudden my pc freezes. the audio keeps playing and i'm really confused but i look at the video and it's just schlatt staring directly at me. my heart drops in my chest and then the audio starts looping a syllable of what he was saying and it just stays like this for a second until my pc restarts. i have never been more scared in my life and i feel like schlatt will be in my nightmares tonight. great episode boys

I accidentally carried on a bag that had weed at the very bottom that I'd forgotten was there, and I didn't realize until after the fact. FREAKED me out when I found out.

1:11:44 I'm a 2008 baby and honestly? Based on the personas that you all put up online, we're more similar than you think. I also grew up watching things on VHS, most notably Tangled and that one stop motion Rudolph film, along with other nostalgic things like having a Gameboy and one of those phones with the keyboard that slides out. My first phone was 4 inches tall and only worked for calls and texts. Hell, I had a landline in my house til I was like 10. In all honesty, Gen Z should've ended in 2010 because that's when everything really started to change. 2010 is when everything really started advancing and when children actually started to become what we call iPad kids. Yes, I had a tablet when I was younger, but not a straight up iPad that has no restrictions. I had a Nobi, which was made specifically for children, had learning apps and restrictions pre-installed, and helped instill good habits in me by rewarding me for things like waking up early or completing an exceptional amount of educational game play. I don't even know if the younger kids like gen alpha have any clue what abcmouse is, it's just a meme to them, but me? That shit is what really helped me learn to spell. Fuck I even remember when we had computer labs, I don't know why we don't anymore. I'm going to be a sophomore next year, and holy fuck the kids that are still technically Gen Z but were born during or after 2010 are just.. so different from my peers. I find more similarities between myself and your guys online personas than people who are even a year younger than me. Anyway... Thanks for reading my tangent, I just thought I had to say my piece, so to say.

56:25 drunk schlatt just went full business and randomly dropped the most crucial life advice i've ever heard for a youtuber.

I just need you guys to know i was playing your last drunk podcast and was in an accident. It wasn't my fault at all, but the clip sounded particularly racist, and my insurance guy was foreign. He refused to work with me after seeing the video and hearing the audio. I had to submit a claim to say it was the speaker, not me. It's all on video so don't doubt my authenticity as a second hand racist, fellas
