There is a sirgog video that talks about this node from before the ea release that talks about that if armor is calculated the same way as in POE1 then the asmyptotic way that it's calculated would make it so that negative armor of 5000 would provide an infinite damage increase. So maybe the issue is that it's hitting that level and the game is just defaulting to 0 in order to not crash.

your damage is so high that the negative armour does nothing , getting hit by a big hit makes your % mitigation be very low , so if you hit high your amplification is also low , try it with tiny physical hits like a crossbow rapid fire , since the mitigation would be high the amplification would be too when armour is negative

I noticed on earlier variations you had avatar of fire on, I assume thsi was disabled for testing as your attacks would no longer be physivcal and not benefit form the armour break. I wonder if Fire Infusion being on is also causing a similar effect. Where it is counting the damage of the attack as elemntal rather than physical and thus not getting the armour broken multiplier?

For the people who want to play this build, i have a few tips that should help. For the ones worried about the build getting nerfed. Im quite sure the armour break ascend node will only get fixed and work as intended, but it has nothing to do with why this build clears mobs so well or why the dmg is that high and why i think this build works even better on titan. What likely will get nerfed is exploding armour. From my own testing, it looks to me like exploding armour is double dipping when it converts phys dmg to fire for its explosions. Im not certain how the dmg is being calculated but if i had to guess it looks like its using the strikes physical dmg you did (with all of its multipliers/%increases) as the flat dmg for fire (base fire dmg) then reusing all of thoes same multipliers/%increases again as well as any fire pen/fire exposure/%fire increases you have to calculate the dmg the explosion will deal. As long as you FULLY break the targets armour in 1 strike its almost a guarantee that the following explosion will also fully break any similar hp/def mob's armour with in range, creating a chain reaction. If they dont nerf this support gem, then here is what u can do to stream-line woolies build. You can use devastate support gem to fully break armour when you heavy stun an enemy but this takes up 1 of your 5 gem slots and if u dont have 5 unlocked it really makes it difficult to get the desired dmg. Instead you can use crushing impacts in the titan tree to get crushing blows on all hits which will make all stunprimed enemies heavy stuned. With enough stun build up it only takes 1 swing to get an enemy heavy stunned and with enough armour break % (doesn't take much at all) the shattering blow passive (skill in the talent tree) will auto full break armour. This works beacause shattering blow isnt a %increase to armour break rather its a flat percentage of armour broken upon heavy stun. "Break 50% OF armour on heavy stunning an enemy". If your guaranteed 50% of the armour to be broken, then you only need 100% increase to armour break anything...flip the script is pretty good node right next to it as well. If your not titan spec for crushing impacts node or dont want to use mace strike you can always use something else to stun them and use boneshatter to heavy stun/armour break. Which ever way u choose you all need increase to attack area size to hit more enemies without getting too close to the action so pick up 100% or more. The more you have the smoother it feels to play too. For stun build up and armour break, u just need enough to do it in 1 hit After you pick up what defensive skills u need you can pretty much spend the rest on dmg nodes. Attack speed is nice but it does nothing to scale the dmg of armour explosion since they only work on the one strike that caused them... some good notables. Skullcrusher, split earth, overheating blow, honourless, breaking blows, pile on, vengeful fury with unforgiving. All the small nodes while pathing to these notables will also get a 50% increase from Hulking form which frees up space to get even better😂

FYI: This build was so great, but it's nerfed now. You have to use Stampede now and it doesn't hit nearly as hard and it's not controllable nor fun.

Been playing this and trying out a few things. I found it is worth it to actually have a crossbow equipped in the second weapon slot preloaded with the ice wall shot + Splithot + Glaciate + anything else. Crossbow is still counted as a 2H so you still get all the passives from that effecting it and the emergency button putting up walls and potentially freezing (even armour breaking on occasion) really gives you breathing room. For the secondary weapon points just spec out of the 2hMace nodes and try and path towards 1-2 freeze build ups. Makes for a great 1 button press emergency button and I just take off ancestral totem because it feels pretty worthless most of the time. You still walk around with your mace and shield and every otehr attack is linked to those weapons, you just keep a crossbow as back up linked to ice wall, preferably with "loads 2 bolts" prefix.

One issue i have noticed with armour explosion builds and that I saw no one mentioning is so far is that, once you trigger the fully broken armour on enemies, you can't make them explode anymore because their armour is already broken, so you need something to consume the fully broken armour.

You could but you wouldn't have the Anvil's Weight node so you would need Splinter support to break enemy armour with mace strike. Will be worse in the mid to early late game and you won't ever be able to drop Splinter support like this can but it certainly could be better since your strength from the tree will be much higher.

i dont think you understand armor break, its just a status effect like heavy stun, the warbringer node just lets you build up another armor break while you have one currently active and not spent on a payoff skill that consumes the break.

If you want more reliable screen-wide pops, devastate + armor explosion + more AoE % with the Titan ascendancy Stack AoE increases that'll do big bonks Otherwise it's just a matter of getting packs close enough together and dense enough

You need enough damage to armour break in a single hit, as then the explosion that armour break creates will armour break those mobs, who in turn explode themselves and you get a chain reaction which 1 shots everything. But, if you do not armour break in a single hit, then the follows mobs wont pop. No chain = no mass explosion.

It would make mobbing easier. But, it won’t be effective against bosses or big hits due to how armor works. Also most deaths on war is usually from elemental effects or dots.

I'm running a jank thorns build with Max block, as much armor as possible and increases to resistance caps. It's functional for sure but you're pretty slow.

Don't do what I did and always blindly follow planners for what stats to take (bc the person with planner has different gear than you will as you level). I learned that if I don't know what stats to take yet, I don't spend the point yet, that way when I finally get an item upgrade worth using that has more stat requirements I know then at the moment what stat to go for. Or just spend them and refund and change them as needed if gold isn't a worry.

The negative Armour node is busted, the damage amplification in my opinion almost entirely outclasses titans damage nodes with just 1 node. It's quite disgusting Probably on the nerf radar, but I am doing the same thing but with titan, just breaking Armour, sunder for chunk, and hammer of gods for deleting.

Yes, cuz explosion that is caused by your armor break node is an attack and it deals fire damage, so you need to use war bringer to let fire damage break armor and cause this pack chain explosions. However, there is no need in "break armour bellow 0" because it's seems to have no effect right now. Might be strong when it gets patched tho

there is technically 2 explosions here,,, 1st from "Armour Explosion" triggers when their armour is fully broken,,, 2nd explosion from herald of ash trriggers on enemy death,,, there could be a third explosion if you use infernal cry kekkekke
