For civie use, that's probably one of the best uses for one of these, otherwise... you're just burning a hole in your pocket, but as a wrecker?... freaking brilliant. Has all the good stuff you need built in. I don't think there could be a better marriage of purposes even if someone made things for it.

Actually, that's not the first HET that i see that was turned into a wrecker. But that only prooves that the idea is simply SO good, that more than one can have it. XD

In AZ there’s a free car show every Saturday that’s been running for 30 years. Maybe eight years ago we drove into the parking lot to enjoy the show and there was a green mountain parked in the middle of the show. A HET. Crazy big in person.

I have to admit that riding with Hunter is much better than with Kevin, and this isn't my normal pick on Hog Head either. Sausage fingers maybe able to paint, he even alright wrench twister, but his driving is hard on the passenger side brake pedal. Don't tell me he wasn't gettin to you too, because you were giving him hard time about that is typically reserved for beginning drivers, and I never once heard except Kevin get nervous when another vehicle was coming towards them. Maybe if you gave him a couple extra firm pillows to sit on he could see what was under the bumper instead of what he's supposed to be watching ahead of him. Better yet, just mount him a seat like John Wayne had on the old GMC in Hatari, and then Hunter can drive while Kevin watches the stripe under the his feet.😅

I would move the control levers further back if the hydraulic lines would allow so that they would not sit above the wheels. If this is possible with the hydraulic hoses, purely for safety if something heavy is hanging in the salvage boom.

That's going to be one beast of a wreaker. Not just for towing big rigs but excavation equipment stuck in mud holes. And especially broken down logging equipment in hard to get at areas including logging decks. Definitely going to be a really entertaining series watching how you guys figure out what needs to be done to make it work and be safe.

I suspected these HETs would make awesome recovery wreckers, smart move to leave the high capacity winches operational. When you get it all done and rigged, think about doing a demo on its operation. You can probably find something in the yard that Mason can get into an appropriate location for recovery!!

This wrecker really needs Outriggers to keep it planted to the roadway. Most wreckers of this style have them as they are needed when side winching heavier loads. It also needs some very large side boxes for chains and other wrecker equipment. Looking forward to the next Video to see how the build moves forward.

Whilst I think that combination of truck plus the purchased recovery equipment is likely to work really well one thing that I have noticed about similar vehicles is that there is a huge amount of ancillary equipment needed to make it a fairly complete and independent truck. - My question at this stage is where are you thinking of carrying and storing this "stuff" as there does not seem to be much in the way of locker space along the chassis rails although there is some space behind the cab but who wants to be lifting / lowering heavy chains and other equipment up and down that height distance.

I have no experience with heavy wrecker operations, but watching those guys up in Canada, one of the things I noticed most about the heavy wreckers is the amount of tackle storage they have on those truck. If you move the heavy winch controls off the platform, that could be a good place for a storage box. Not sure if there is one that would fit across from one side to the other. But would be one place. My be a good idea to hit up one of those services for some ideas to fit all the great work you are putting into this. The wrecker config for these HET's is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
