Today started out very thickly cloudy in the mid40's at midnight and it never got colder but warmed up to 60 with a few hours of sunshine. The clouds all returned, the temperature is now 54 degrees with an occasional slight breeze & a spritz of rain. NO snow will fall from now through Christmas day.... here in Troy Missouri.

Mike, those big gnarly or unusable to you pieces of wood. You should make a stock pile of them and sell or give them to people who have outdoor boilers. I know most people don’t have or want wood like that, but it’s a shame just to burn it when it could be put to good use. I totally understand having to make room, just a thought.

I see guys all the time advertise on marketplace free wood like that and to the best of my knowledge guys come and get it, it’s a liability yes, but to me I see all wood as useable, when I process wood for customers I even scoop up the shavings, bark and the junk on the ground and throw it in my wood burner by the 5 gallon bucket.

When I bought my ‘retirement property’ of 12 acres, I thought about my equipment needs, in relation to my property type. Budget was limited. I bought an older BX which came with a front snowblower for my 500 yard curving driveway, an FEL, an MMM, back blade, and a few other attachments. The side by side UTV was next, followed by a zero turn. Enjoy your videos, keep up the great work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I have been splitting up some premium firewood out of a 30” log. Straight. No knots. Probably could bea veneer log but I don’t have anything to move it with so I cut it into firewood rounds. My tractor can pick up about 5 feet of it so I will try to cut some boards out of it if I can.

Love the Henry rifle hanging on the wall in the building. I happened to have fun at a range with my Henry 357 today, plus a little plinking with my new Walther/Colt 1911 22 pistol. So much fun and didn't have to spend a lot of money. But that was after I shopped at Cabela's and bought some powder and wads to reload shot gun shells. About $300.00 for 8lbs. Of powder and 1,000 wads.

In Florida I went to the Kubota dealer and they acted like they didn't want to sell to me a tractor so i left. My wife and I went to the Deere dealer and i asked him about that i heard that the rear-ends leaked and he just walked away. That told me it must be true. I bought a blue tractor it's an LS and I have had only one problem with it where a pipe running under the tractor leaked and i replaced it. Two old boy's in Georgia raise cattle and they have a Kubota side by side with the cab and heating and air conditioning and I know they love it. I would like a side by side but the prices scare me and I wouldn't buy a used one from someone selling one.

Tractor first in my opinion, the ability to maintain and improve land is more important than simply moving around it, at least to me. I live on 20 acres and I went with 2 4 wheelers in lieu of a side by side, and have a 50 HP tractor and a John Deere 333G, next up is a 1.5 ton Chinese mini ex which should be here any day now. I do plan on getting either a Japanese mini truck or a side by side early next year

The Kubota is a beauty! I remember back in 1997 when the ft150/ranger first came out with the bed extenders. Great idea for creating inexpensive space. I have been asking the same question: Tractor or utv? By next winter I'll have the house completed so I'll need the tractor for plowing. As of ten minutes ago, before watching this vid, I was looking for a 2003 4510 Deere tractor. Now, I'm not so sure.. Kubota you say.. Hmmm

Your answer on the side by side vs tractor question was spot on. Real world example; when I lived in the Gulf South (MS); I was working 2 acres. I needed the tractor first for hurricane cleanup and land maintenance. The side by side came 2nd for a hunting lease property. Where I live now, 10 acres in N Idaho, I would need the side by side first because of the terrain and the need to haul firewood. The tractor would be a close second for snow clearing and property maintenance (fortunately I had both when I moved here). So the answer is, it depends totally on what you need first. Great question. Good video.

We went with a tractor first for our property, mainly because we aren't there fulltime yet, and I needed a way to maintain over a half mile of gravel drive/road. I've decided to wait on a UTV until we're living there fulltime -- for now, I drive my tractor (or truck) whenever I need to haul a chainsaw, fuel, etc. anywhere.

World population……interesting that you should bring the topic up. My grandparents on one side had 18 children, and on my other grandparents, they had 9. All survived until ww2, 2 were nuns and the rest reproduced. Last count I had over 120 first cousins. That is an extreme amount of reproduction and filling the corners of the earth. Mike + Melissa = 4 children thus doubling their numbers, so far have 2 grand kids + more to come. Looks like you and I have all contributed to world population. I took a world population college class in 1971, and now all that was predicted is happening now.
