Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa who is the life force behind his family’s 1,700 acre farm. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad (Daddy Cornstar) and brother (Cooper) on the farm. With a lot of help from Daddy Cornstar, Cole instills humor and education into his videos fit for both young adults and adults. Despite being 22-years old, Cole has an old-fashion work ethic with an innovative approach toward agricultural technology and practices. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

Hi Cole, My name is Erik and I’ve been watching your channel for the past couple of months. I live just north of Los Angeles and was introduced to farming by of all things Farming Simulator (PS4) video game. I have never worked a farm or planted a single seed in my life. I have a career in the bio medical field and never thought of working land like you do. I think what you do is amazing and can appreciate the food I get so easily from the market a lot more. I enjoy your videos and the content you put up so please keep creating videos. I’m 43 Latino and was brought up in the one of the poorest parts in L.A. but have worked very hard to better my situation. I used to think I’d retire in Hawaii or someplace tropical but thanks to youtubers like yourself I can easily see myself working a small farm on my New Holland. P.S. I just bought my hat and it should be arriving shortly 😊 Thanks for taking the time to read this, Erik O

I really just want to see all the home and yard improvements. I wish I could binge watch just that! Daddy Cornstar is very entertaining though. His calm demeanor and use of the letter R in words like wash, makes him more likable. Wish Mommy Cornstar was in it. I just started watching and only saw a flash of her.

Good to see you're using screws to attach the new roofing vs. using nails. I regret that I didn't put insulation board under the metal roof on my shed. I wish the builder would've taken the time to explain the inevitable condensation issue that happens in the winter when you don't insulate it.

No need for safety harnesses when the slope is gentle. Gravity mostly is bad when you fall off something. In the Southern Hemisphere in Australia, gravity goes up, so if you would fall off an Australian roof, you would go up in the air. So, wear a harness in Australia!

To speed up laying tin make sure you're punching your're screw holes on the ground. Take some time to plot everything out and then punch the holes with an awl. You can do between 4-6 sheets at a time. Also only set 4-6 screws per sheet when you're laying them and then have one person follow behind you to put the rest of the screws in while everyone else continues to lay new sheets. It'll seriously increase efficiency.

@@DerekThorpe294 ...to pre-mark the screw holes....so you aren't wasting time popping chalk lines...and when screwing metal to wood the screws aren't self tappers...at least not the drill bit screws
@Breennan
@Breennan 4 жыл бұрын
@@DerekThorpe294 You get a more uniform line of screws and it takes less physical force to get them started. You have to apply a decent amount of downward pressure even with self tapping screws. If you can eliminate that extra work by predrilling/punching starter holes that are all perfectly straight then that's a big plus in my book. I'm not a particular fan of working on roofs and anything that helps cut that work time down is nice.

At Lowes/Home Depot you can get a reflective roof coating that will keep the roof cooler and water proof it. May help prevent rapid temp changes that could cause condensation/corn rot. Roll it on like paint (even a middle aged woman - me - could apply it.)

Just a suggestion: if you leave those curves in the driveway, it will be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I know it doesn't make it easy for the equipment to go down the driveway, but it just gives a curve in some straight lines and adds a little interest to the yard. And it would be even more lovely if you planted flowers along the driveway where the curves are to accent them.
