I was hoping to see a method to hold batteries. Something like a box that the inside is molded to fit the 18V batteries. Or a tray system that holds the batteries.

Where these excel over packout are their larger storage capacity. You need to look at them in stores to see how huge they are and man the wheels on the rolling tool box are huge and robust.

I liked your review on the Ryobi Modular Storage System. The one thing that you didn't show that I am more interested in, is what power tools will fit in these storage systems. I figure the drills and possibly the reciprocating saw will fit in the small storage box. But will the 5 1/2" circular saw fit in the medium box? It would be nice if you could make a video showing what could possibly fit in what storage system. If people are going to use these systems on job sites. I feel that would be useful information for them. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for pointing out the not-standing-up-part on the small toolbox. I for one can see myself become VERY frustrated by such a "minor" detail... I often carry a few tools between my house and garage(separate buildings), and not being able to just simply put the box down besides you while you lock/unlock and open/close the doors would, yeah, quickly become quite frustrating. Combine that with the bins not staying in place makes it a complete deal breaker for me. What a shame...

Your review on this seems to be the best and most comprehensive. Thanks. I am concerned about the latching system holding the boxes together. While the octagons seem to provide a lot of holding area, they are all on the same side, all opposite the small push latch It looks like the push latch is the weak link. Is this true or are there some slots at the opening edge of the boxes? I can't find these locally to check for myself!

I bought this to move some office stuff around. The attachment system is the best out there. The bins don’t work well. Needs a drawer. Not as premium as Milwaukee or dewalt. If they brought out a drawer and an organizer they will beat out tstack, husky, and dewalt. Milwaukee is still the top version but you pay for it. Dewalt is the best for fitting into smaller spaces.
@MotoRiot2 жыл бұрын
Bought the Milwaukee packout system and dont regret it one bit. Maybe im crazy, but everything on this Ryobi system seems....loose. Like they didnt care at all about the tolerances being remotely close. When hes showing the handle, the amount of play at the base of the aluminum going into the plastic seems way too much. That will become an issue down the road with excessive use, and also leaves a gap for debris to enter. The locking system seems very loose fit as well. My packout boxes lock so tight together, I would have full confidence lifting or pulling my entire stack of 3 cases plus the base around with just the top case handles (probably 150lbs total). With this, I wouldnt trust it one bit. Combined with some of the other small quirks mentioned, Ryobi needs to go back to the drawing board with this one. I love my extensive set of Ryobi hand tools and batteries, but they've got a long way to go if they want to get into the mobile storage game.

Good for ryobi. Love to see new tools. I've been using the rigid boxes for almost 3 yrs, all of the boxes are great. The base handle though? Complete shit... I've returned 4 boxes just for the handle. It's shit. Boxes are fantastic though
@davisbeveridge2 жыл бұрын
I’m in the same boat. The handle is garbage!
@bread-gz3rl2 жыл бұрын
I'm probably gonna get these because my ridgids are falling apart (latches are made out of shit and bent, handle is made out of shit like the latches, wheels fell off, seals shrunk and don't sit right anymore and the parts organizer lid cracked on the edge) and while I can warranty them I don't really want to with the problems listed above. Seems like the only durable part of them are the plastic for the boxes themselves. Now for the ryobi most of the problems to me won't matter because even though the ridgids handle is made out of nothing it doesn't have any actual problems other then acting like holding a running car buffer by the pad and I already have 4ft long bungee cords and parts those husky 2 story parts organizers (I bet half of the stuff in there could probably go in a box in the shed for 40 years and I wouldn't notice since the only thing I use out of them are screws and electrical) so I'm gonna get the ryobis until I need to upgrade to something else.

How do you think this rolling tool system compares to the Craftsman Tradestack?
@user-ii8dz4vu7n2 жыл бұрын
Tradestack has a much weaker locking system. It's all held down by that single front latch an a hard yank will cause it to fly off and drop the boxes. Den of Tools shows this happen with just twisting the adapter plate.
@fannatick2 Жыл бұрын
Lots of room for improvement. They need more real world testing in the hands of tradesman.
@bttfdmc19842 жыл бұрын
It's got too much of a lego vibe to me. The nonlocking tubs and the permeant bit holder are a bit off putting the bits holder should be fully removable not just the lid. Seeing you shake that smaller box with tubs and them moving around makes me wonder if they move what keeps the contents in place? I've got a ridgid set and just don't see myself moving over to this set. It's good for a DIYer or someone starting out in a trade but not something I see as a long-term job site box set. Of course, I could be wrong but I want to see some rough and tough tests to see how well they hold up.
@sendmedics2 жыл бұрын
I’m honestly a bit underwhelmed by this system. The bins seems very poorly thought out. I couldn’t trust screws and things to not spill all over the place, especially since the bins dont have lids. There is also no tool trays. The bit storage is neat but I probably wouldn’t ever use it Unless I just wanted extra bits along with my dewalt bits. And honestly I think it’s a bit overpriced. I’m leaning towards the craftsman versastack. The handle is nice but having to unscrew it to remove it seems lame when others can be removed without a tool. (At no extra cost)
@TrippyMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
I have that versa stack and it's a peice of junk haven't had it 6 months yet and one of the wheels broke. If you do get it stay away from stairs the back gets caught trying to go up and the wheels just won't stand up to the abuse.

The locking system is... interesting, but not really that useful or wroth the cost. The lid mounted bit holder is flat out idiotic. How many times are you going to walk back to your toolbox to get bits before you realize you should be carrying them on your person? Meanwhile the lid space is some of the most valuable real estate in the box, and they wasted it for *bit storage*. Idiotic.
