Fun fact: It used to be the highest point in the Netherlands. Since 2010 the highest point of the country is actually Mount Scenery at Saba, an island in the Caribean, which is a special municipality. It's now "only" the highest point in the European Netherlands. Also, it used to be the four countries point; as shown by the road that leads to it being called the Viergrenzenweg. It still blows my mind that there used to be a fourth country there for over 100 years and I was never tought about it at school.

We live offgrid! Make our own electricity with a generator, a “waterboer” levert eens per jaar water uit een bron. That is enough for a year with also the rainwater. It goes in a deposito and we made a water purification with various filters including UV. We miss nothing, have all the luxury that we want! Ofcourse the generator wants dieseloil, but that is the price of living in nature…..(village with a lot of big supermarkets, bars and restaurants is two kilomters away) Sometimes we see ibexes nexr to our fenced “garden”, for us this is the best place to live! More animals than people! ❤️Hil on the hill……

My advice for a camper holiday is Scandinavia and especially the fjords of Norway! This year we drove our car through Scandinavia for three weeks and stayed overnight in B&Bs and hotels (in the capitals). A wonderful combination of beautiful cities and beautiful nature. Definitely recommended to make this trip with a camper. Our route was: Billund (Legoland) - Copenhagen - Gothenburg - Stockholm - Oslo - Lillehammer - Alesund - Geiranger - Bergen - Stavanger - Kristiansand

More of a short train trip than an adVANture (eh? :P ) , but would love to see you guys visit my birthtown of Oudenbosch. Just hop on the stoptrein to Roosendaal and you're there in like 20 minutes. Just a cute little town, but we have a church that isn't quite like your regular dutch church.

At the labyrinth you can pause the water features blocking the pathways via a censor which is in the bushes about half a meter away. My son found that out and it made it much easier to navigate. 😉

I can highly recommend Denmark, Norway and Sweden, three of my favorite countries, legal camping in the wild (I don’t know for sure about Denmark, but Norway and Sweden it is legal and if you’re not sure just ask the locals, if you don’t speak the Nordic languages, almost anyone speaks English), jumping in a lake or a fjord in the morning, naked because there’s nobody there and if there are they won’t mind and will probably follow your action, having bbq’s and sitting by a fire at the evening. Such sweet memories of our trips there … But closer by the Eifel region, the Black Forrest and the Harz in Germany are also very recommendable. And also so many regions in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary; I don’t know where to stop … And now I’ve only cited places that I’ve been to and so many more places I’d like to go to …

Actually, I've been to the "Drielandenpunt" many times on my bicycle. Used to be a nice point to turn around. Wasn't so crowded in those days. On the way there I always had some steeper climbs to conquer. It's actually a pretty easy climb. Thank you for taking us along on your camper tour. I liked seeing and hearing some of your experiences.

Wild camping, or camping on none designated places is actually not allowed in the Netherlands as in most other European countries. That includes the beach. Reason being to protect the little nature we have. So be careful when you choose a place to stay outside of a camping side. Sweden does allow off grid camping, and so might some other countries, check it out.
@buncharted
@buncharted Жыл бұрын
yeah, we’d probably go outside of the netherlands for it. but off grid camping doesn’t necessarily mean wild camping. a campsite without facilities would also be “off grid” (no power, water, etc).

About the 'drielandenpunt': between 1816 and 1920 it was a 4-borders point. The Netherlands/Germany/Belgium and Neutral Moresnet. Neutral Moresnet was the result of 19th century geopolitics. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_Moresnet That is why the road up the hill is called Viergrenzenweg (‘Four Borders Way’)

Have you ever tried filter coffee like from a Mellita filter holder with paper filters? In my opinion the best coffee you can get, it is simple and you can get it strong or weak as you please. The most primitive however, but not bad at all is Koffie Toebroek: just give a spoon full of coffee in a cup (and the sugar if you want) and pour the boiling water on it. Stir once and let it sit until the coffee is on the bottom. (You can help that bij giving a little cold water on the top). Drink the coffee with care to avoid the drab on the bottom. For a very special experience I recommend you to go to the Karl-May-Spielen in Bad Segelberg. The many books of Karl May are widely known in Germany but also in the rest of Europe with the star figures of Old Shatterhand and Winnetou. A bit old fashioned because of portraying the Apache as nobel savages.

When you are in Limburg you should go to the American Cemetery Margraten and see the graves of 8.288 American heroes who lost there life for our freedom. All graves are adopted by locals like me and go to generation to generation (family) and there is even a waiting list ! The graves not only have a cross bud also a face. We never forget. Been camping a zillion times, but hiking / tent, never camper. It looks like a LOT of fun. IMHO this is definitely a rent/don't own situation. In any case these are great videos and (possibly) are scratching the surface of a new 'thing' for this channel to explore Europe with this process. Certainly, that's not to say it's the 'best' way, as trains are great fun as well. Lots of helpful comments already about locations!

Nice to see that you enjoy camping life so much. And by the way, did you notice how the road quality in the Netherlands differs greatly from that of Belgian roads? In terms of holiday places, I would advise you to choose places that you would otherwise not be able to reach easily by public transport, for example kamperen bij de Boer (that means camping at the farm)At these campsites you are in most of the beautiful rural areas of the Netherlands and Belgium + you also learn about farming life and they often sell tasty snacks (for example cheese, jam and sausages)And I enjoyed your camping adventure.
