When I first saw this video I immediatly added Little Stand Lemon on my must-visit list, so last week I told the owner how I found out about his lemon bar. Me and my partner have the same strange situation. I'm swedish and he is uruguayan and we live in Uruguay. We cant afford having a proper wedding just now but we will still get married for legal reasons. He did propose still because I wanted that romantic aspect down at least. However, I see it like this: what better way to marry the love of your life than marry them twice! I can't wait to just be legally married to him but then also to plan a proper wedding in the future. I totally can relate to you and Jake decision. I am Korean living in Denmark with a Danish partner - I am on working visa, which was a lot of struggle to get (to find a job that pays you at least 32000dkk and hire full-time without fluent Danish combined with the changing Danish immigration laws…) and I cannot leave my work because that is my residency here even though the working environment I am in is rather toxic. We are also considering the partner visa at this point with my mental burden from my work & freedom to choose my career - and we will anyway be marrying at some point as we’ve been together for 5 years. I am so happy that Jake understood your position - and so happy that marrying to him gave you more choice to grow and explore as an individual. Not until I dated a “foreigner”, did I realize how marriage can be a door to more opportunity rather than something that set limits on you as individual. Sending lots of hugs from copenhagen - after all, love wins most of things in life ❤️

my cousin and his wife technically married first and then a few months later had a nice but small wedding at his wife’s parents house. it was so much fun though! then 4 years later my adorable niece was born, then a year afterwards they had a bigger wedding ceremony in my family’s home country and it was beautiful. My niece also had a lot of fun at her parents’ wedding 😂 each couple’s marriage story is different but that’s what makes it beautiful 😌

Congrats - can relate. Did exactly the same - quiet trip to city hall to complete paperwork as it simplified Visa and tax and gave us options. Told noone and planned to do proper wedding in later years in home country………but life somehow took over and life consumed by 2 beautiful children. My oldest daughter did something similar. She needed health insurance and her husband was able to add her to his policy. They knew they were committed and would marry eventually so they decided to have a very small ceremony with a small group of family and close friends. A friend of theirs conducted the ceremony. They talked about having a bigger celebration later but 8 years later it hasn't been a priority. Congratulations to you both!

As a Virgo I totally get the practical approach, in my case the priority was getting pregnant asap, and then we figured out that being legally married and agree on which surname will be easier before our daughter was born so I organised our wedding and we got married when I was 7 months pregnant ❤🤰💍👰‍♀️👨‍👩‍👧👍
