I don’t know if you caught that bit about Maple Syrup Urine Disease, but we spent so much time looking into it later! I wanted to share it, but it didn’t make it into the video. MSUD a super-rare dietary disorder and it is fascinating. People who have MUSD must have a special diet their whole lives, because their body cannot process certain amino acids (protein building blocks). It affects 1 in 185,000 infants worldwide and *can* cause serious problems if it goes untreated. The fact that Amy, a Canadian, had a disorder with the name "maple syrup" really caught us off-guard, but hopefully, the fact that Amy is a carrier can help raise awareness! Vaya con science!

And btw.. which test did you two take? the 23andme or another one? And if it was 23andme, did you take the 99 or 199 version, and how satisfied were you?
@yyyyyyyyyroto7 жыл бұрын
Trace Dominguez What complications?
@ursaltydog7 жыл бұрын
Is Amy sure she doesn't already have this issue, instead of being merely a carrier? The reason I ask is, that mutations in the specific genes that create MSUD, cause the body not to be able to break down proteins from particular, protein-rich foods such as dairy products, meat, soy, gluten, eggs, nuts, whole grains, seeds, Mutation in any of these genes reduces or eliminates the function of the enzyme complex, preventing the normal breakdown of isoleucine, leucine, and valine. She's already been identified as lactose intolerant... Tell her to be aware of any symptoms that may indicate a late onset of the disorder in herself.
@monkeyemperor12237 жыл бұрын
Maple syrup urine disease is an inherited disorder in which the body is unable to process certain protein building blocks (amino acids) properly. The condition gets its name from the distinctive sweet odor of affected infants' urine and is also characterized by poor feeding, vomiting, lack of energy (lethargy), and developmental delay. If untreated, maple syrup urine disease can lead to seizures, coma, and death.

@eman08287 жыл бұрын
pale blue dot Again Mexican is a nationality, you can be black, white, native American, Asian mixed race. Ask the same question what does an American look like, are they all white people? 😂😂😂 just like I said about Mitt Romney's father and he's a white Mexican born. Christina Aguleria's father is Ecuadorian and she's white. My father is a white boy with blonde hair and blue eyes with the last name Ortiz and his grandparents are from Puerto Rico. Even Trace Dominguez is mostly white as he's a White Caribbean just like my father as Trace looks like someone from Spain.

There is unconclusive evidence of certain species of plants native from central and north america being present on ritual burials on Africa as far as 8000 years ago [with Tutankamon´s cocaine_in_his_hair being just the most famous]. It would not be impossible for any ship able to cross the Mediterranean Sea on a regular basis to do the same through the Atlantic with a lower probability of success (and back with some imported people in them to replace the lost crew members).

Native Americans ARE Asian, by heritage. They migrated across the Beringian land bridge (that used to exist between Siberia and Alaska) thousands of years ago. Sapa Inti it wouldn't surprise me as his results are typical of a white Caribbean. He's whiter than my grandfather that is also mostly Iberian as I'm 7% Native American as I'm three generations from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Trace and I could possibly be distantly related since these island populations are known to be Endogamy populations. I have several thousands of Endogamy Puerto Rican cousin matches.

Eman 08 yeah my sisters dad is Puerto Rican he also got thousands of cousin matches, while my Cuban grandpa didn't even have a hundred and my Ecuadorian family had under 100 too. but my Cuban grandpa's dna is really close to trace, 95% European, 3% north African,

HairyBottom 1/4 is pretty significant to be considered "Mixed" race. 2% not so much. A lot of White Puerto Ricans are in the 60-70℅ European range but they are still multiracial compared to one coming straight out of Spain as they are not your Charlie Sheen "White". Charlie Sheens real name is Carlo's Estevéz that is 100% European of Irish/Galician. My father looks just as white as Charlie Sheen with the last name Ortiz a blonde blue eye but he's multiracial generationally mixed of European/African/Taino.
