My former SIL was killed in a boating accident. This is why, no matter how well you can swim, everyone on your boat needs to wear a life vest. If you are knocked unconscious you will float face up and not down while under. Even more important if the other passengers are injured and cannot help you. Sounds elementary, but would have saved my SIL's life.
@davewylie6547 ай бұрын
@ccrbonline1752 WHAT YOU JUST SAID IS 100% CORRECT!!! I can swim like a fish and I fish for a living and I was driving my skiff across a flat wide open and unbeknownst to me a hurricane had changed the flat and I ran aground going 45 or so and flew over the front of the skiff and landed in 24 " of water and was knocked out and had I not been wearing my inflatable which I always wear with my killswitch lanyard I wouldn't be here. It doesn't matter if you are Michael Phelps you cannot swim if you are knocked out and it happens in the blink of an eye
This is why as a kayak angler I have a flag and running lights, if I get clipped like this I probably don’t walk again. Glad to see this was best case scenario and nice fish!!!!

Glad you guys are alright. How that guy didn't see your boat with the big canopy is beyond any reason. Thank God it wasn't worse. Now let's talk fishing: I've never used a live scope nor actually seen one. I've been bed ridden for several years now and don't get to fish anymore but I hope I get a chance one day. I started fishing soon after I learned to walk and did so for 30 years every chance I had. Lived on the water a good portion of my life. Crappie are my favs. Most people know that they always bite above their heads. So I was glad to see you presenting your bait accordingly. I noticed you saying you didn't feel the bite which is common for crappie. I would suggest you going to a spinner rig with about 6# line. Then you want to try to keep most of the slack out of the line and watch the line itself for a little tap. When you see it, set the hook. He'll be on there. I would love to try out that live scope with my favorite crappie weapon, the Roadrunner jig in 1/16 oz. I wonder if it would show up on the screen. If you get a chance would you do this old country boy from Alabama a favor and try it out and show it on your channel? I'll do my part and subscribe. Thanks.

Live scoping is going to decimate a lot off lakes that we fish. Then what are we going to do for fishing. When there is no fish in the lakes.
@HawgWyldFishing8 ай бұрын
No it’s not. Stop crying and just go fishing. And remember, if you aren’t catching any, someone else is, you’re in the wrong spot or doing the wrong thing. Anglers don’t even catch 10% of the fish in a lake in a year. Usually 5% is a high number on a super pressured lake like Toledo Bend. So no, livescope isnt hurting anything. Then, comes implementation of lessons learned including familiarity and drills. As always, situational awareness on both boats giving time to make corrections, slower speed for an operator with impaired frontal vision, employing boat horn on the impacted boat, and using the trolling motor to turn the impacted boat to starboard may have helped. Nobody got hurt but there's lessons that can be employed. Remember, good practices aren't always mindless but better than being in an accident. A buddy of mine was up on Shasta Lake, in northern California, him, and his nephew, fishing along mining, their own business pretty much doing what you guys were doing watching their graphs, and they both went to takeoff him and the boat that hit him. It was a bass boat, my buddy was in a 14 foot aluminum boat nice aluminum boat but that boat hit my buddy on the driver side right hand side that aluminum boat and then took off two other bass boats was in the area they took off after the guy plus there was a third bass boat to come over to help my buddy cause their boat was sinking. My buddy was knocked out his nephew laid down thank God, but they caught this guy about 6 miles down the lake he was going full out in a ranger boat. They finally caught him at gunpoint and got him to stop and then called for the sheriff. My buddy had to have two or three surgeries on his shoulders, and they had to amputate his little finger on one of his hands right hand I think it was cause it was hanging off the side of the boat. The guy wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing.

i know in kansas here all boats are required to have air horns either built in or hand held just for this problem.
