PSA: be careful smelling chemicals directly, you are supposed to waft it. I definitely don't know from experience, and I definitely didn't slightly burn the inside of my nose from smelling something while in chemistry lab.

For the icy tone you were looking for, you'd need to bleach the hair again until it's all atleast nearly platinum (after giving the hair a break, after the initial bleaching) from my personal experience a level 20 to 30 developer for a maximum of 30 minutes per bleach (recommended that you don't bleach more than twice) and then using the ash toner (or any platinum toner) A nice purple shampoo also helps a lot once you get it a light enough shade too. This was super fun to watch! The lil rat tails are so cute 🥺

My mom has the same icy tone and she does the exact same thing as Cas said. She's pretty on-point with this even down to the purple shampoo to help lighten it from a silver to a platinum. My mom does it entirely herself and it usually takes multiple (3-4) treatments over 2 days!

Hey Patty! I had box dyed black hair and I’ve gotten pretty light! You just have to bleach your hair again and maybe next time, apply more bleach to you hair and divide the section into really thin pieces so it’s very evenly applied! You should visibly see the bleach on your hair when it is applied. And and after the second time, you should be good to tone and it should be more of the icy white you’re looking for! *I am not a professional. I just also have tried to go platinum with black box dyed hair hahaha* but I can relate. I hate going to a salon and I’d rather blame myself for a shitty hair cut andddd I just like to do it 😂

It's normal for the roots of your hair to lift more than the ends of your hair (because they are closer to the scalp the heat from your head helps the bleach work better). And if you haven't dyed your hair for a few months the roots won't have any added dye on them which will also make the bleach more effective since it doesn't need to bleach layers of added pigments. If you want the darker parts to become pale blond you have to bleach them again. But give your hair a break first for a couple of weeks and deep condition it to prevent damage. The pale icy white blond can be achieved by using purple shampoo/conditioner after it has lifted enough to be a pale blond. You could use another purple toner once it is pale blonde but you will have to use a purple shampoo/conditioner to keep it that white blond shade.

You need a toner after! Hair is red, orange or yellow underneath the pigment the bleach removes depending on how dark the hair is. (black bleaches red and brown bleaches orange etc) toner is an opposite color to make it cooler. purple is opposite to yellow, blue is opposite to orange and green is opposite to red. lightening hair is a 2 step prosess. you can also use purple "silver" shampoo and see how far it goes if you can't find toner. good luck

A lil tip for avoiding your skin getting burnt by the bleach is to use Vaseline on the skin around your edges/wherever you're putting the bleach! especially if you have more sensitive skin :] love ur vids patty !!
