That ending there is such a hard pill to swallow. When you start making games, you have the grandest plans for the most amazing games ever and you'll make them all on your own because you're smart and awesome like that. Then you try making a game and realize it's really, really fucking hard and you're a bit of an inexperienced idiot. That's the point where you either delude yourself into thinking your tech demo weekend projects can be sold for money, you quit or you roll up your sleeves and start exploring your limits and making the best games you can. But no matter which path you take or how long you spend perfecting your craft, you're still just one person and you won't make the next Fallout, Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft, etc. Solo development is just going to be inherently limited unless you're willing to spend 30 years crafting your masterpiece.

Another thing I wish small devs would quit trying to do is to make the NEXT whatever. That thing you're trying to rip off already exists. It's always going to be a million times more popular than yours. I get that you're trying to ride a wave, or you're inspired, but if - as much as is possible - you try to make the FIRST instead of the NEXT your project is going to be infinitely more memorable, not negatively compared, and much less likely to just get lost in the mix. This exactly. See way too many videos that are just like "this thing people like/you didn't know is bad" where the whole premise is some guy rambling about how they don't get the point of something and it's clearly bc they didn't understand what it was in the first place. These videos give fair and harsh critique, but it's always from a place of "there was potential here" rather than blatantly saying "this sucks" and moving on from it. Like, really, if you just don't like something, what's even the point of giving it more attention? Graeldon makes sure that you come out of each video, no matter how bullsh*t the game was, knowing why the game was worth talking about. Even if "well, the premise of this series obligates me to" would be justification enough in the eyes of other commentators. I appreciate keeping the conversation intentional 🩷

Did you notice that your gun never had to be reloaded?
@Graeldon5 ай бұрын
It did have to be reloaded, not sure if a clip of it made it into the video or not though. Pretty sure the gun and reload animation are stock assets though
@Turtlejohn85 ай бұрын
@@Graeldon maybe it was just in the online mode at the end then. It looked like you fired 19 shots consecutively without reloading

my dumbass thought the title meant this was a review of games released 10 or more years ago

69th "Steam Sequence" video! Nice! Anyways, I think they also tried to copy S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Looks like a passion project of a solo dev that bit off waaay more than they could ever chew. Games like these sadden me. He probably didn't want to scam and tried to make something actually good but failed miserably.

is the song used in the main body of the video from Project Zomboid?
@TomaszRyszkowski6 ай бұрын
Yup! Project Zomboid my beloved. I didn't know what to use, and i didn't have any acoustic tracks at hand that would fit, so i went for the PZ ost

wow the dev couldn't figure out how to make actual save and load feature and had to "fake" it. The dev should've aimed to make a linear story based FPS instead of open world crafting rpg thing.

It's better than having no save system at all, but only by a thin margin
