That's some weird documentary you watched. First of you clearly don't differentiate Rus from Russia. That's totally different. Russia (Muscovy) is as much Rus, as French are Roman Empire because Gallia was a part of it. That mostly flat plain is also misrepresented. Most of that flat land is semi-marches that is not that easy to just roll over. Most armies attacked near winter because it only time when your supply can move over it without constantly beings stuck in the mud. Even now you can see that Russian Tanks sticks to main roads instead of taking these famed "flat plains". They claimed Land they didn't own and never owned from neighbourhood countries based on made up title of tsar of All-rus, and feel "invaded" when countries didn't give land that "belonged to them". Hungarian isn't a hard language, it's actually quite logical, almost too logical. It has a very straight forward inflection system as well, with very little exceptions. What makes it "hard" is that it's not an indo-European language, so the grammar is different from what you're used to, and several words are Uralic in origin and nothing like other European languages. So in part, you'll have to learn a lot of linguistics from scratch, which is why it takes time. But it's not a hard language.

@@timurkotulic3948 Yes, but a lot of those cases are prepositions in other languages. Like there's a case for "being inside the noun", being -ban/-ben. Learning the suffix being ban/ben is like learning the word is "in" in English. Hungarian does use vowel harmony, so you got two variants. But you only have to learn if the word is back (ban) or front (ben), and it's usually straight forward. You don't need to learn the vowel harmony for each case, since each word only has one vowel harmony for all its cases. I'd say this is much easier than German's genders.

To explain the cowboy times, the cowboy culture that eventually developed in USA was actually a evolution of the vaquero that developed in Spain and Portugal american territories, so all iberoamerican countries have their own unique style of cowboy. A little about cowboy times in South America In northeast Brazil the bandits were called "cangaceiros" and they acted like north american bandits (raiding little cities, robing dilligences, etc.) and they cease to exist for the same reason, the industrialization and expansion of the police force (called as Pé Preto, or Black foot because of their boots) In the 1920s, the brazilian government was having a headache with the communist movement rising (Coluna Prestes) at the same time as the bandits was at their peak, so the government had an idea: Give to the most danger bandit (Lampião - Virgulino da Silva) the title of Captain and allow him to hunt down the communists. But wherever the communists went, Lampião would go to the opposite direction. The cangaço [for non-portuguese speakers, try to pronounce as khan-ga-zo] started to went down in early 1930s after a lot of investments in police workforce on the region, like giving the Volante (special troops to hunt cangaceiros) outdated machineguns from ww1 and from before like the french Hotchkiss. I dont recommend to google for it but there are images with "trophies" collected by the Volante (the heads of cangaceiros)
