It's the Aston Villification of England. For some reason, Aston Villa hired Steve Gerrard to manage Aston Villa and he was dreadful, so bad the team flirted with relegation. After maybe a year, they fired Gerrard, brought in a world class coach in Emery. Emery turned the same players into a Champions League team. Same thing with Eddie Howe, in fact, he turned a team that was relegation bound into a champions league team, and done it breaking multiple records, and then somehow finished seventh last season when the team/squad was falling apart around him. Yes Emery is tyr flavour of the month right now, but Howe is equally impressive, if not more considering the poor squad he inherited at Newcastle, at least villa had a half decent team when Emery took over.

I can't say I agree with us changing the punditry. You might as well go down the pub. I don't mind some bias,as long as analysis is on point. I'm a utd fan ,grew up watching football focus and motd,Hansen and Robertson hated utd but there analysis was generally always fair and valid other than you don't win anything with kids. It's pants management ,simples. The players know it so don't believe in the cause. Tbh it's more societal issue,are they really that proud to wear the three lions or is it just good for there bank and social media accounts. The difference is heart and desire. Put a chance on a plate for Harry Kane. Something no player has done in 2 games so far at this tournament. the goals we have scored have come from mistakes or deflections. Great goal by Bellingham but ultimately Saka cross was deflected. Last night mistake by defender to let Walker rob him and then two reflections on the poor cross / pass from Walker to fall at Kanes feet for a tap in. We haven’t made a single clear cut chance from 2 games against Serbia and Denmark with an abundance of attacking players to pick from. Grealish and Maddison must be in hysterics thinking they were left out because we already had enough creativity. Madness. Take the shackles off and let the boys play. At this point can’t even understand why the lads are following the game plan when it’s set up for us to fail. It’s been the same pattern for 3 tournaments now, win a game, draw against the so called better team of the group, get out the group, hope for a good draw, come unstuck once we face any team of quality

Trouble is we're so heavily imbalanced in midfield. Aside from Mainoo or Wharton, we don't really have anyone to play a defensive midfield role. Rice, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Bowen, Eze and Gallagher are all attacking midfielders. If Southgate sticks a ball winning midfielder in front of the defence then he's got to sacrifice one of Trent or Rice. Can't see him dropping Bellingham or Foden (or even Kane).

Switch to a 4-2-4 formation. Put Gordon on the left wing, put Palmer on the right wing (Yes I know he plays as a CAM), have Rice and Bellingham in the middle and put Watkins in with Kane up front. Watkins has a different profile and will compliment Kane up front. I love Trippier but he's not a LB and he's absolutely shattered. Southgate brought Shaw for a reason and he needs to get him minutes before the knockout round. At least put Shaw on for a half, either first or second.

On the right side Walker can easily do the same. We've already seen him run further up the pitch this tourney and Pepe has used him more than a few times as an inverted fullback. He could definitely support from the right. The only thing in question is Palmer and his ability to track back and win 50/50 balls. It won't be worse than what we've already seen.

Two strikers works for me. But I'd put Bellingham in the centre and Palmer as the no 10. Which is where he has dominated games last season. (Especially against Man City). Shaw would push up on the left as he did in the last Euros so well. Good call.

The issue with England is the midfield doesn’t compliment the attack and vise versa. Trent-long passer, Rice-Runner, Jud-Runner. No one wants to keep the ball or knows how to in Englands midfield. They want to get it, run with it or make quick long passes. And the Attack has no runners. The only fast player is Saka and he hardly makes runs in behind. If you’re gonna play with this midfield, the Attack should be Gor-Wat-Bowen.

the mention of Kalvin Phillips is the exact reason why Trent isn't working, he wants 2 deep sitting midfielders, we have no movement upfront so Trent is wasted with no movement. And when people say Kane cant press because he's not quick, that's rubbish, look at Morata yesterday, or even Mitrovic or Firmino when he was at Liverpool, its all to do with putting some effort in and positioning your body when pressing. Kane just doesn't want to do it, he's too selfish as a player that's why he drops back because he wants to get the ball and spray passes but that isn't what he is in the team to do.

Gareth Southgate came in and changed the environment both socially and pychologically in 2018, rode the wave of optimism for a couple of years. He is now being found out at this level, out of his depth as a coach specifically regarding the technical and tactical corners of coaching. Look at the top 4 coaches in the prem, Pep, Arteta, Klopp and Emery, all seriously demanding coaches. The environment pendulum has swung to far to a holiday camp look. A pro phase coach at best.

No idea why we didn’t match their 5-3-2 formation. You could see what was going to happen a mile off. Denmark played intelligently, were able to invert their full backs and got into dangerous attacking positions despite not having particularly good technical players. England got very lucky it was only 1-1. Southgate is tactically inept and simply cannot adapt to the opposition. I hope we get drawn against a top team so he can be exposed instead of coasting into the final by getting an easy run.

The biggest problem is that Epl have a lot of foreign players now those players make English players look good when they play together now this players are getting exposed when they play against them it shows how ordinary they are Again the manager is clueless he shouldn't be sitting in that bench

The English player’s demeanour , standing together before returning to the pitch after halftime, was a sign something is not right. It would be interesting to see what is being said to them before and at halftime to bring them together as a team. For instance (different sport) the documentary Chasing the Sun II, about how Rassie Erasmus managed the South African rugby side, speaks volumes of how to motivate a group of gifted individuals. The passion must come from the management and coaching staff. No passion, no performance.

The only three player that actually tried was eze Watkins and bowen when they came on they were on it and putting pressure on there player but then the rest of the squad was just watching the ball get passed about

The problem with England players is everyone wants to be star player specially those in attacking area and they forgot it is team work that is needed at National level. This issue between Bellingham and Foden will also be an issue. The coach needs to tell everyone that they need to build team work. Another problem is England are missing second midfield player who can play along side Rice and Trent is not midfielder neither Bellingham. They need someone like Kevin Philips that is what they missing now but they have many attacking players, Foden, Bellingham, Saka, Bown, Palmer, Gordon, Eze, Kane, Wattkins, Toney all of these are attacking players but none is midfielder. Galleger is not good enough, Maino lacks experience.

This group system where best third place finishes advance it's completely idiotic and killed the "do or die" suspense from the group matches. It’s simple. Saying there is a front 3 when at the same time you same Bellingham is a 10 shows that everything is a mess as that means you only have two midfielders. It’s impossible to keep the ball. You either play 433 or 451 not 4213. Especially when England don’t know how to keep the ball.

Foden should be in that number 10 role and play Jude a bit deeper as an 8. Play Gordon out wide on the left. Southgate could also play Kane in that 10 role since he keeps dropping in so deep and have Watkins as the 9. Decent amount of options but Southgate isn’t that guy

Most people dont understand that all of these english players. Play with a lot of good foreign players next to them. That's why when they're all playing as a group, they don't perform.
