WE HAVE TO FIX THIS NOW! JOHN DEERE 430 3-PT HITCH FULL RANGE OF MOTION

Today, I am finally getting around to trying to undo my oversight during the full install of the Ruegg 3 point hitch for our John Deere 430 Garden tractor. I was asked about why it didn't seem to have much range of motion from the full up to full down position. So I have an idea why this was happening and in this video, we show the simple fix.

The threaded rod is supposed to turn freely to adjust it, and the roll pin is the handle to grip it. The square nut stays within the bracket and you should turn the threaded rod to adjust it in and out. You shouldn’t have to remove the rock shaft. When I installed my 3pt I took the rod out to inspect it and found the swivel had dirt in it. Cleaned the dirt out, reinstalled the rod...worked like a charm.

Funny thing about buying a 36 year old tractor is you don't always get operators manuals and the 3 point hitch itself didn't come with any installation directions so I was pretty much winging it back then. Thanks for watching! Good luck with the install. Thosec 140s are pretty serious garden tractors. If it has a rockshaft, it's probably pretty similar. I am glad I have it on my tractor now. Just need to figure out the implements that will be the most useful.

john deere mower decks aren't meant to ride constantly on the caster wheels, they are for anti scalping. so you still should use the stop.

That's good advice. I dont plan to put the mowing deck. back on since I have the Husqvarna for my mowing needs unless something unforeseen happens. But if I do have to, I will remember that Thanks for watching!

The threaded rod with the roll pin also controls the range of motion for the three point hitch. If you raise the three point all the way up you can adjust how low the three point will go by screwing the threaded rod all the way in or out, I don't remember which.

Yep, that got covered in the video.. Screwing that nut all the way up (toward the gas tank area) is the way to get the full lowering movement. Thanks for watching!

You don’t need to do all of that, you need to adjust by turning the screw with the roll pin to adjust.

Question for you, totally unrelated to the three point hitch. How did you fasten the triangle to the back of the seat? I was going to use some self tapping screws, but was hesitant on doing it until I may find how other folks have done it first.

"DON'T DO THIS!". You are well meaning but you are misleading people. If you simply turn the bolt by grabbing the roll pin, you can adjust the lower limit of the hitch (or deck). The nut is square because it is supposed to fit in between the brackets. You DON'T TURN THE NUT, you turn the threaded bolt. FYI you should replace the roll pin with the right size.
