My dad had a D6 that looked alarmingly similar to the dozer in the video. That little 2cyl pup/pony motor was a pain. Cool as can be, the exhaust for the gas motor ran through the intake manifold of the diesel to preheat the intake air I do believe, and it had no muffler, it rasped like no other. You'd start it, wind it all the way up, crank the throttle up on the diesel (the ratchety sounding lever Stefan was moving), engage the clutch and it'd start cranking the engine over and drag the little gas motor down to where it'd nearly stall, disengage the clutch, rev it back up, give a spray of ether in the intake and engage the clutch again and that giant diesel would eventually roar to life. Somewhere I have videos of the thing, I should upload whatever footage I can find, that thing was super cool. Eventually for ease of starting my dad converted it to a 24V electric starter, there was a kit to put one on, and then it'd start fairly easily without any ether because the electric motor did a better job of overcoming the diesel. Little gas engine probably needed a rebuild. It was as much an adventure getting it started as it was trying to operate all the manual clutches and foot brakes to steer the thing.

I brought an old Koehring 305 crawler crane back from the dead. The clutches and linkages took me about 9 months to clean and free up. It has a 471 Detroit. Couple of stuck injectors and some stuck valves. I was able to free everything up with a case of PB blaster. Never force the rack on the injectors. It’s better to remove them and clean them in the shop. The crane was about an hour from my home out in a field so each trip out I’d bring what tools I thought I might need and would do what I could over the weekend. The project has been very rewarding and even friends had got involved.

That thing with the boom was not a crane, it was a shovel. It was probably converted to a crane after its lifespan is a shovel expired, but it does deserve some attention, maybe even a removal and restoration. There are not a lot of examples of those old mechanically driven cranes that are in good shape anymore, and although this one has sat outside for so long, it seems like it's in relatively good shape for the working gear.

Correct! The first production car with fuel injection was the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL (gullwing) but this was mechanical fuel injection. EFI came around In 1957 the American Motors Corporation outfitted the Rambler with an electronic fuel injection system, called the Electrojector, on a 5.4-liter V8.

here for the bay city crane! that's in amazing shape minus the boom. Ive brought a few of these machine back to life on my channel and a collector would love to have that bay city. its rated as a 3/4 yard machine like my Lima and probably close to 20ton as a crane with max counterweight

I love these guys! Rich's brother there (idk his name, I'm sry) obviously looks/sounds ALOT like Jack Black, and Rich kinda actually looks like Donnie Whalberg from a distance. But aside from all that... this is some of my favorite content on You Tube!!! Thanks guys!!!

As a Bay City, MI native, the crane for sure. I would help support a full restoration.

I got to work on a bay city shovels 20 ton crane when I was younger.same situation, it was at my friends junkyard in Connecticut. It had a pair of Hercules 6 cyls and I got 1 to run.it was the machinery engine.turns out the old girl all worked but the travel motor was seized. So cool to hear it idle haha it just chugged along at about 150 rpm.

I have watched a couple of videos and I liked the 16v71 since their are not many of them to see. That was cool. I showed my Dad, not impressed because it's heritage in his eyes. To me... Well someones going to have one in good condition if anyone wants to see one, take pictures or even see it running. My engine in my Truck/Ute is a 4D56T and I really don't know what to expect when it may run away. It still has 400+psi But it's highest and lowest are 80psi apart. The machine has the power to still get up hills but barely and blows gaskets, so I've got a compound that helps to seal it for much longer on the gasket. I'd really like to know how to use it but avoid a catastrophic failure as I am planning to fully overhaul the bottom end. and have the Cylinders over-sized with new over-sized pistons and rings. I've not quite had a run away, I am not even sure I can save my car from running away, my Plan is to use the gear box to get the car in motion, get it into a high gear and then brake on the engine to slow it down. I believe 3rd gear will be the perfect gear as I've started it up by accident in 3rd gear. I am hoping I can get the vehicle in motion if she is running away, and use the fully rebuild braking system to bring the engine down to 0rpm and have it towed home so the engine can be pulled down and hopefully rebuilt. It's also designed in a way it maybe unlikely to run away and cause catastrophic damage because it's designed that the head will let go and only ping the pistons as the pistons are parallel to the valves. I could not find a 4D56T run away, I don't want to have one on my hands, however I would have liked to seen that kind of video so I know what to expect with that engines design. Thank you!

Scout it's really the only answer, and they are really popular right now. The "slant 4" is literally their V-8 with one bank of cylinders lopped off.

It's an Austin Cambridge Estate, or station wagon if you prefer. 1959 through to 1969. It's actually probably called an Austin Cambrian if in North America.

The last panel van you showed is a Divco panel truck. They have a solid following with the street rod community. Parts for them are non existent. Might be a good one to piece out (especially the front clip).

To expensive to repair is how they end up in the scrap, eventually you can buy a newer one that still works for less then the repairs cost. Of course if you have space, tools, and knowledge you can keep them running forever with a box of seals and o-rings but thats a different topic.

He's good, but it can't be that hard. He basically just makes sure the rack isn't stuck then bars the engine over two full rotations. Screamin Jimmies are awesome.
