Nothing is priceless, price is a reflection of how much of one's own labor or intellect one is willing to trade. While the old stuff is cool to look at, it's always best to look at while someone else is paying for the land it is sitting on. Museums have a hard time even trying to get $5 for entry, meaning the stuff is much closer to scrap price as very few want to pay anything to see it and even fewer are willing to pay to own it.

My grandfather was a pilot at the warplane museum and his wife was one of the curators/director for the new museum when it was built. I remember many visits to both museums as well as being a member for life, I’d get to go in and out of planes that were closed to the public, we’d come out there be people lined up waiting to go in as well, they were pretty disappointed when we told them it was a private tour lol occasionally I’d get to help turn props when that took place. My grandfather flew the Avro Anson for many years as his assigned aircraft and later reassigned to Beechcraft. I also remember my grandfather mentioning this place as source of many of their parts for restoration projects that were going on at the time before the old museum burnt down so this was a great story for me to see 👍🏻

My parents met this old eccentric genius back when I was a kid & he had all sorts of just rare cool things that you really wondered how & where he got them but likely the coolest thing he had in my mind was supposedly one of the Avro Iroquois engines in a granary out back. He's since passed and I never got to back out there when I was old enough to investigate it more but man just the idea of it was so cool! he also had a WWII tank of what model I'm unsure but it had a 50. cal on the front yet and live mortar rounds in the side cabinets and the tank did run & drive. no clue what happened to all that stuff once he passed.

That's way cool! I was "lost" one day wandering around the old Air and Space museum rebuilding facilities doing a job, walked into the wrong hangar full of one of a kind aircraft. They were packed in wingtip to rudder and you almost had to climb through them to get around. A nice worker greeted me, pointed me in the right direction via a full tour and history lesson. Was definitely one of the coolest moments in my life. Crazier yet, the guy was a test pilot for many of the planes in there back in the day, even flew several of them. Those aircraft are all mostly on display at the Hazy Mesuem in Dulles now. Thanks for sharing!

Somebody bought a lot of junk from DRMO !!! All those planes were destined for the recycle plant for aluminium no doubt considering they were chopped in half. As for the T-33A, originally it was a single seat fighter designate as a P-80, one of the first mass produced jet engine aircraft. Body was extended to a dual seat plane and designated the T-33A. Sub-sonic, it had A J33 engine which was quite easy to remove and replace. 3 main bolts for the aft section of the aircraft, 2 flight control rods for the elevators, 2 cables for the rudder and just a few electrical leads. A large part of USAF fighter pilots got their initial training on them at Tyndall AFB in Florida. The plane had 1 hydraulic system @900 psi which operated the landing gear and aileron boost unit. Rarely were they flown without the big "Drop Tanks" on the wings which of course would limit G forces. No G suit system for the pilot, and I can verify the cockpit was quite cramped, especially if you had broad shoulders. The T-33a could also have a pylon installed under each wing where you could mount a 500lb bomb. This of course would require a JATO pack to be installed (Jet Assisted Take Off which was actually a rocket pack), but I can say we never used one in my 7 years working on them. If a pilot went cross country, a travel pod was installed in that location under the belly. You could of course install the wing pylons and mount a travel pod there. The plane was a very forgiving plane. Very nimble (but definitely no quick). Combined with the ability to stay aloft for over 3 hours without requiring fuel, the T-33 was a great trainer. Low maintenance as they rarely broke. If they did, it was usually for engine related problems. Avionics and radios were pretty reliable but they occasionally broke also. One thing I can say, the clip in the video showing an aileron roll, well, I have to laugh!!!!! Although the plane was nimble, it wouldn't execute a roll as depicted in the video. Typically you had to nose up a little, then do your roll as the jet would lose altitude by the time it completed it, and it wasn't quite so quick as in the video!! We sold about 12 of those plane to some country in South America, I believe it was Ecuador. We painted them camouflage an had the 4 .50 cal guns installed. They were to use them in a ground attack role. Pretty cool.

So many aviation historic groups should be knocking on your door to buy this stuff. Parts for WW2 birds are scarce as it is.

Save it all! Forget LS swaps, put a twin row rotary in! lol, crazy cool looking place. If I had the money and space to collect that kind of stuff, I'd end up with a museum full of engines on stands and piecing together some kind of aircraft and trying to fly it. I think Stefan might do the same, Don't take him with you if you go back, the world needs BlackJack!

Back in the early 60's (I think) I got to play in what I now believe was a Mitchell Bomber in a farmer's yard. There were 2 of them there. Memory is foggy but I do believe the engines were still on them. The one I was in was all plexiglass(?) in the nose, bomb bay was behind the pilot and co-pilot. Behind the bomb bay was the seat and part of the machine gun where the gunner sat. Have always wondered how they ended up there miles from any airport or what happened to them (still there after all these years?). Used to visit a Army Surplus store too that had all kinds of stuff from military vehicles, rifles, knives, etc. One time he had a bunch of Canadian Military jet aircraft 7, 8 maybe (not sure of the exact #)---never got a chance to look that time though---my old man drove right on by! That would of been in the late 60's or early 70's--forget that too. One time when I was a adult I stopped in and there was a V-12 Cyl. Rolls Royce aircraft engine sitting on the ground---think that was in the 80's or 90's. Buildings were closed but he did have a small store out by the highway that went by the small town where he was located.

They ought to contact Kermit Weeks, he has one of the larger collections of aircraft, he has a museum down in Florida where they have numerous restoration projects restoring aircraft - including restoration of a large portion of their aircraft back to flight status. I'm certain he would want some of these parts or will know someone that is looking desperately for those types of parts. If you are serious about getting the 18 cylinder (two rows of 9) 2600 running again, you could contact Vintage V-12s in Nevada. They rebuild many types of Aero engines, including radials and V-12 engines like the Merlin and other very rare engines back to running status both for flight ready aircraft and for demonstration purposes (engine running on a trailer). The demonstration engines aren't nearly as expensive, because they don't require all of the documentation for the FAA or the non destructive testing (X-rays of the part, etc.).

Any data plates on the pulse jet? That could be the American copy built by Ford called the PJ31. There were far more PJ31s in the US than Argus As 014s. They are nearly indistinguishable from each other. The US Navy had many JB-2s (V-1 copy) by the end of the war and planed to use them against Japan had the war continued.

The US pulse jet is shorter. This is German it came from a museum that closed down. no data plates, remember that this was a single-use weapon made mostly from slave labor no need for any data plates or serial numbers.

This guy should talk to Kermit Weeks. That guy has endless amounts of projects but sticks to aircraft up to WWII. So the twin cyclone would be of interest as well as the pulse jet.

Like to see the PBY put together as a gate guard, although didn't see the wing. I'm sure there's a wing lying on someones farm. The bus is a late '50s Western Flyer. The builder plate in inside above the center of the windshield. The engine is an IH Red Diamond 500 cu. in.The RCAF used a lot of them. There is a restored one running with Manitoba Transit Heritage Ass. There are few of these buses around, some in much more complete condition. The body looked not bad on this one, just needs the rest unless it's all hidden there.
