The front end looks like a brace over the standard chassis, this should be a good upgrade for existing hornets etc too.

I was wondering about that after noticing the difference between it and the original. Just wish they came up with a better arrangement for the top shock mount, that's a lot of wasted space that reduces front suspension travel. But for what it is, it's fine. Definitely picking one of these up for my son. He has a Grasshopper and has always wanted a Hornet, but I was always reluctant to buy him what really amounts to duplicate of what he already has. This is different enough while keeping the same style. When I asked him if he wanted this or the original, he immediately said THIS!!! Good job, Tamiya!

First time I have debated getting a Hornet or one of the other buggies based off of that chassis. I am hoping that this leads to some similar updates to the design for the Midnight Pumpkin , Lunch Box, and maybe some of the other iconic old Tamiya kits... bearings, ouls shocks, and updated suspension/steering would probably have a lot more tamiya kits landing on my wish list, and farther up that list.

While keeping the hornet chassis means that the front shock towers are a little weak and the battery box lid is a problem it is a great idea as it means competitions that make std hornet chassis legal and parts optional means hornet evo is legal to drive.

@@martinhsrc6699 I think it would sell like crazy. Maybe with a C.V upgrade instead of the dogbones. And independent suspension. But I'd like to see original release first. From rumors I heard. They've misplaced the dies for the front bulkhead. So new dies may need to be made. And that's the reason apparently why we haven't had a re-release.

I am still waiting for Porsche 959/Toyota Gr.B rere wanting it to show up next year. Other than that, the only other rere that Tamiya has not done were the 3 speed ladder frame duo of the Toyota 4x4 and Blazing Blazer. Sure there were many iteration of Bruiser but not the models that started them all. I believe Hornet Evo is brilliant in Tamiya's way repackaging tired old chassis into something (kind of) new. They have a bulletproof gearbox (how many dt-03 brushless videos out there in social media? Plenty!) that can handle loads of power and will definitely turn hornet into a beast. For once, bravo Tamiya! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I like what I see with the Hornet Evo. Back in the 80’s I had a World Engines Rockbuster (same as the Academy Roadrunner). I have that car again as I recently found a new old stock one on ebay. It hops around quite a bit with the floating gearbox and pogo spring front. The Evo should fix that. I had a DT02 Sand Viper and the gearbox was great. For 2025 for the 50th I’d like to see a Falcon Re-Re. They have parts compatibility with other cars like the Blitzer Beetle so it shouldn’t be that difficult. If they are doing the Hornet Evo it would be cool to see a reimagined Frog as well. I don’t think Tamiya will re-Re the 959 exactly the way it is. The tobacco livery is a problem because it’s tobacco but also that particular company is no longer in business. They could do the basic street silver and then we could get decals. For me I’m ok with them doing a Re-Re on a newer chassis but a lot of folks aren’t
@martinhsrc66996 ай бұрын
The Rockbuster sounds cool, I think I’ve seen a Road Runner on another channel interesting car. I think the Falcon will come eventually. I do hope Tamiya surprise us with whatever the 50th car is, just hope it’s not another 911, I know it was car number one but it’s been done for nearly every anniversary so far.
@jonthomas84876 ай бұрын
@@martinhsrc6699 the 934 RSR was their first RC car. A road going version would be nice maybe, but they should pick a good rear biased 2WD platform. It would be nice to maybe include hard plastic scale parts. It’d be also nice if they could include a clipless body mount. A Lamborghini Countach Re-Re on a 2wd chassis would be a good option
