Yeah just TB'd today for the first time, too often today I've said "thank God for steel toe caps" , "bloody heifers" and " do us a favour darling stop crushing me" Not to mention as we were finishing the calves.... The heifers escaped... All bulling... Jesus it was horrendous trying to find them all over the bloody farm

Interesting to hear it was every 4 yearly for you! Our milk is sent for cheese but our testing is done annually, unless we are down with TB in which case it's every 4 months until we've had 2 clear tests, then we go back to annual testing!

Excellent video Tom good work. For the sakes of the great uninformed such as me, it would be good to know why you have to do it. If god forbid, you get a reactor; 1) does that halt all milk movement off the farm, 2) does that + any other animal have to be slaughtered, 3) would the the cause normally be down to the fact that you graze then naturally outdoors and they get exposed to badger trails and infected badger pee in the grass? Finally, controversial I know but thoughts on a badger cull? I have an only an ounce of insight into this and have no sympathy at all towards tb spreading badgers. Keep up the good work fella.

You got it right, it’s tuberculosis. When pasteurising first came about it was to stop outbreaks of tuberculosis through drinking milk, because they do raw milk (milk that isn’t pasteurised) they need to test for tuberculosis more often to prevent any outbreaks from happening.

What brand are the auto catching cattle crushes you use? We have one on our farm here in Australia made by Combi Clamp but they are expensive. They're great things but due to the price we haven't purchased any more, I was not aware of any other brands making them?
