Ha, since you mentioned it, we still use a fish basket from, time to time as well my friend. Love it. Good times. Nice find for the rods and reels.. Good job mr Hagen on the rod and reel finds you founds. Nicely done. Those Ugly sticks will last for ever as well. Yes sir, I wont own a G Loomis either. Can't afford it. Fun to see all making your own jigs, I started. making them last year and have really been enjoying it as well. Good day of fishing sir, thanks for taking us along with you. Dale

I bought my last basket, like the one you're using, in the mid 80s after someone took the other one that I had, along with the boat it was in! I used to keep it with me in my truck or boat as I used it mostly for trot line bait. I may not set out trot lines anymore but I still keep it with me as another option to keep live bait and smaller "keepers", as if I ever intended to keep any.

Great video Hagen. I still use one of those baskets when I use my jon boat instead of my Tracker. Last spring bluegill fishing I had my basket at the back of the boat and my dad had his basket up front with him.

I run a 18’ wide body flat bottom John boat and I had never spent over a couple hundred dollars for a trolling motor and I definitely wanted to get a good trolling motor for my boat!!! I definitely kept thinking if it was worth spending 2000.00$ dollars for a trolling motor or not but ended up picking one up!!! After finding out that it had the spot lock on it and a bunch of other cool features and after using it for a while and finding out that I didn’t have to throw an anchor out if I wanted to stay in a certain spot and having a chance at scaring the fish away I was definitely hooked for sure and kept telling myself that I definitely spent my hard earned money for something very useful for fishing!!! Now after having the trolling motor for several years now I definitely couldn’t go with out one with the spot lock on one for sure!!! When I baught my 24volt trolling motor I had the option of a black one or a white one for salt water!!! I ended up going with the white one because it’s usually pretty hot out when using the trolling motor and I thought that the black ones would get extra hot with being out in the sun trying to fish so I went with the white thinking maybe I might get a few extra years out of it because it wouldn’t be getting as hot as a black one would!!!! I don’t no if that is actually true but I definitely thought it would!!! I can actually troll around a lake all day long using two yellow top optima batteries!!! One time I got out quite a ways from the boat launch and my boat motor would not start for some reason so I ended up having to use the trolling motor to get back to the boat launch and it actually was able to get me back!!! That definitely saved me that day for sure!!! Awesome video and I’d definitely love to see more crappie videos along with a catch, clean, cook videos also!!! Thanks again buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!

Crappie fishing is pretty fun all right! And it's a little bit better when you tie your own jig. A well tied jig will outlast the plastic baits by far, I sometimes get a hundred fish on one jig. Always good to see you two catching fish.

Here is a tip to keep the new line on your reel from spooling off on it's own . Take your newly filled reel with the new line. Put it under your tap with the hottest water let the line on the reel get good and soaked with hot ater . (about 3 minutes under completely hot water ,not luke warm) Then get your tap as cold it can get and soak that for at least 3 minutes . Don't wait do it fast while the line on the reel is hot. Wait till the line is good and cold. Thats it no more line coming off. I used to leave my newly spooled rod and reel in a hot car but this works better.Good luck. Tight lines.

That's Ridiculous!
@BrokeBackBob4559 Жыл бұрын
Take your spools after spooling them and place in hot water about 100 degrees for about 20 minutes and then let set aside until they cool off to get rid of the line memory.

I always use a basket for bluegill, crappie, etc. As far as line twist, I bought the line spooler from Piscifun. It works great for quick respooling and virtually eliminates line twist as well.

Question... Are skipjack found in most lakes? And how is the best way to find and catch them
@hagengrubbsfishing Жыл бұрын
They are found on river systems, mainly tributaries of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The Tennessee and Cumberland river have a great population of them. They can be found below dams most of the time, especially in the spring time. Here’s an older video I done on skipjack fishing if you would like to check it out. Thanks for watching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWXTaJ-NiNCHd8U

Trick to spinning reels is to lay the spool on the ground and reel it on that way. Don't put it on a pole/spindle/pencil and reel it on like a bait caster. Both need separate ways to putting line on.

I have terrible luck at taylorsville, of course never have time to crappie fish to get the hang of it haha. Should take your son to the BWCA up in northern Minnesota. Canoe and camp for a week up there, best fishing there is. Only canoes allowed after certain spot, so low pressure, best smallmouth and walleye fishing.

Live scope will end croppie fishing because it's not fishing its watching a screen people are taking too many fish you will see the change in limits
@robertdudley-rx8qo11 ай бұрын
youre right, live scope makes me sick to watch. its not fishing when you see the lure going in the fishes mouth youre seeing right on the screen. most people will always take more than they need with or without it though, its just another disadvantage to the wildlife. the people that use all the technology are spoild brats with more money to use to buy it than brains to think how and where to actually catch fish with nothing more than your rod, tackle and knowledge.
