Where are baby goats to be born if not on the ground?
@joanneriley38998 ай бұрын
@@lori1508there’s no need to be facetious! I’ll enlighten you a bit more by explaining the bit the OP missed out on… “Born on dirty ground, ie a muddy pasture” it’s called “joint ill” caused by bacteria entering through the newly severed umbilical cord it’s easily prevented by dipping their umbilical cord in iodine even if born in a stall with fresh clean shavings. It can be treated with antibiotics.

Oh yeah us kids use to hit the bone banks ( bone coal ) and we would be berry picking fools hahaha Great Grandma Ollie would be able to make preserves and enough to make us kids a cobbler. And behind the lil church there was a wild strawberry patch. I live in the country and we were dirty roads and creek beds climbing trees us kids would be gone from sun up till sun down. Parents didn't have to worry to much back then. I wish I could step back in time about 50 years. I know this young man is doing it right look what his kids get to do and the joy they will experience in this cruel world. Today's world is cruel. It gives me hope to see that a few enjoy a simpler life.

Awesome stuff. Over 40 years raising animals of many kinds I've never lost my compassion and tried everything under the sun to save one animal out of a hundred if needed. Just my take on it. We all should please God by having as much compassion for any animal in our flock that we are responsible for. Great video!

My husband has been a farmer and raised goats he says a shot of a couple of cc's vitamin e will help her leg. You can't afford to run to the vet for every little thing. You would be putting out alot of money. I have never seen mushrooms grow that thick. We live in Virginia the Sheandoah Valley. We love watching.
@MORPHMORPH-p5w8 ай бұрын
It seems to me that an injury as such would indicate the need for an x-ray to see if it is a bone or tissue injury. Early detection could keep this animal from possibly suffering from a lifelong ailment. A simple naproxen treatment would reduce the swelling and cost nearly nothing. May be about $.35.

A vet could give your kid a shot of anti inflammatories. If that joint stays like that for too long it will become permanently set and there will be no hope of normal use. As for the black baby, it may just be the angle of filming, but something looks off with it's jaw. Have you checked to see it's hard palate is joined and it's mouth is functional. Thanks for taking us along on the journey of the goats.

There are chiropractors that fix joints like is apparent on your baby goat. Also, a single cortisone injection has been used in baby cows to treat similar post birth problems that may have occurred during birth or soon thereafter as when Mama steps on the newborn. It's not right to sentence the baby to a twisted back and a limp throughout their life if a chiropractor can manipulate the joint back into alignment. I've seen it done on my Dad's farm, and i hope you'll consider my thoughts for your farm.
