I built this a few months ago. Love the deck. Saying that though I usually end up storming off with bonus round, copy effects, rituals and either goblins with haste or comet storm.

I don’t but it consists of mana geyser, reverberate, reiterate, apex of power, manamorphose, and if I have enough tokens I’ll Cast surge to victory to pump my board got a combat damage win. It’s super sweet. Most of the token generating spells Mitch mentioned are in it as well.

@@jeffnorris211 i have wort deck and i put the +3/+3 on 3 targets spell in it so sometimes i'll swing with wort, they don't block because it's just a 3/3 then boom, give wort +18/+18 and one-shot them.

I built a Wort-only-commons-and-uncoms in the last year. A few comments from my experience. 1) Quickly in the deck building, I removed most of the simple token generations spells like Molten Birth and Krenko's Command and replaced them with actual creatures like Guttersnipe, Electrostatic Field and Thermo-Alchemist. The tokens don't do enough to protect you early game, and they have no impact on the board unless Wort is on the battlefield. By comparison, turn-2 Electrostatic Field will typically deal 10 damages to each opponent during the game and save you lives by blocking. 2) I go deeper in regrowth effects. This way, I feel okay casting my early Thrill of Possibility if I need card velocity, and the regrowth effects allow me to get back late-game spells that I pitched in early to hit my early plays and land drops. 3) All those Thrill of Possibility spells allow me to play efficient albeit conditional interaction spells like Red Elemental Blast. If nobody plays blue, that's fine, I'll simply throw it to a Tormenting Voice. I also consider Flashback spells with higher value because of that. 4) Wrap in Vigor wins games.

@@wildernaut595 I agree with you that tokens do deal damage, but a bunch of 1/1 do not help you if your commander is kill on sight or a board wipe happens. His point is valid, if you want to win games, chipping damage effects while developping your board is a smart approach and maximize the lethality of your tokens down the line. You could ditch the chipping for massive overruns, but youre more prone to a blowout counterspell or other tricks. Something like an Impact tremor is also versatile, being able to be played early or later, when you can copy your spells and maybe kill opponents without attacking at all.

storm says when you cast this spell, copy it for each spell cast before it this turn. when you copy a spell with storm, if the text you're copying it with says cast the copy, it will trigger storm but if the text you're copying it with simply says copy the spell, the spell with storm will not trigger storm and you will only get 1 copy of it. moral of the story is storm cards aren't good to copy but they do go well in decks that like to cast a lot of spells and copy a lot of spells because you will probably build up a high storm count even though copying spells does not increase storm count.

Important note with Change Of Fortune's wording. It reads "Discard your hand, then..." rather than "as an additional cost to this spell, discard your hand" you will have to discard the hand you draw off the first resolution of the spell during the resolution of the second. Crystal clear, I'm sure.

That's not so bad, as the final spell resolving will see all of the cards you have discarded in the turn to generate a big payday in card advantage. Couple that with a Past in Flames for extra dumb value.

My win condition for the deck is Second Harvest with enough treasures and creatures, Twinning Staff and 2 "regrowth's." Can keep getting your regrowtgs back with each other along with the second harvest and something else. That something else can be any damage spell then win

Some notes : -Fresh meat, if someone is wiping the board you probably ain't conspiring it, still good though -Since you have all those vanilla tokens maybe Muraganda Petroglyphs or Ruxa, Patient Professor -Manamorphose would be a great cheap common if it wasn't stolen by all those stupid formats like modern -Rituals can give you lots of red mana for one very big turn or help get Wort early, special mention for Battle Hymn -Revel of the Fallen God is costly but Wort it(get it? ok I'm out) tokens that are both red & green help with conspire, remember conspiring requires sharing a color -Treacherous Terrain is a budget late game finisher that can be cycled early on -Blue won't be countering all your conspired spells because they are 2 spells on the stack, and that's beautiful.

A bit late to the party, but i wanted to highlight a few stand out cards not mentioned here, my Wort deck is all about copy spells and tossing out damage, so one of my go to set up cards for finishing the table is insult to injury, the first part cancels any damage prevention, and doubles damage from sources you control, copying this spell means you quadruple damage dealt which can kill a table FAST. Another is early harvest, which untaps all your basic lands, copy this and you can double your mana as you can tap before the original resolves, chain this with reiterate, which is a copy spell with buy back, and you have infinite mana, mana geyser also goes infinite with reiterate. A particular joy of mine is fetching lands from my library, but the penultimate spell for this is not mentioned, boundless realms fetches basics based on your current land count, the spell costs 7 mana so its not cheap, but copying this spell means you can potentially pull all your basic lands from your deck, a feat I have acomplished a few times. Volcanic vision is also a spell I highly recomend, you choose an instant or sorccery in your graveyard and return it to your hand. It deals damage to all creatures' opponents' control based on the returned cards' mana value.

Two thoughts. Conspiring a spell with Storm would only give you one additional copy, it would not copy the Storm effect, correct? Also, I believe copying Change of Fortune would make you discard, draw, then discard and draw again, netting you no additional cards.

this makes me want a rakdos spell slinger deck based around storm and or copy effects with burn creatures to earn the victory, id imagine prosper tomb bound or a combination of kraark and vial smasher (for spell copy) or kraark and a black partner that benefits off of control in general would do the trick.

Id recommend including some of the magecraft creatures in red and green from strixhaven since they benefit from you copying your spells off Wort. Stormkiln Artist is gonna give you a shitload of treasure tokens while Karok Wrangler will buff all the little tokens dorks you'll produce throughout the game.

I run a more spicy but budget version of this deck with a similar base. The key imo to making it more competitive is to make your turns explosive by upgrading mana burst, doubling spells, good finishers, a little better removal. Barrier breach, Tribute to the Wild, Decimate, Volcanic Salvo perform great for me. Boundless Realms, Manamorphose, Battle Hymn, Mana Geyser, Early Harvest, Brass Bounty, Harvest Season spike your mana to often 50-100. Finale of Promise, Second Harvest, Ezuri Predation, Treacherous Terrain, Insult//Injury close out games. Wild Ricochet, Repeated reverberation, Reverberate, Doublecast, Increasing Vengeance are clutch because you can only tap 2 creatures to copy the base spell once and these let you tap more creatures to copy them more times which makes the math go exponential. Primal Amulet puts in some work. Twinning Staff is the clear cut best card in the deck every time it hits the table. Every Wort deck should have this.

I have Wort in in my Tribal Shamans budget modern deck. Oh what fun is it with her out and swing with Trollhammer when your doubling Might of Oaks, Brute Forces, Giant Growths, and the likes. Really miss playing that deck. Lol Really underrated tribe. Unexpected.

Love the list! It's cool how our approaches (and let's say the base of the deck) are similar but the decks end up having quite different play lines in the mid to end game. Wort can be really nicely adjusted to fit different playstyles. Cheers

I made a Wort deck that was built around copying The Great Aurora dozens of times to find Valakut and mountains or Winding Canyons and flash Purphoros and Avenger of Zendikar between each Great Auroras.. lets just says that people at the LGS were not fans of this much deck manipulation hahaha!
