This is a really cool method! I have known the very basic flip method for clock for awhile and watched calebs 7 simul tutorial to try and learn it. It seemed like the tutorial made the assumption that you already know no flip clock methods. Is there going to be a more detailed tutorial in the future?

@@TommyCherry Do you consider the Ja Perm to be nine moves?
@TommyCherry2 жыл бұрын
I assume you're talking about this alg for it: R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R L I tend to think about it as 10 even though it's 9 in ATM (axial turn metric) since I wouldn't do the R and L at the same time in solves, but then again I don't use that alg anyway lol I think something that makes an important difference between simultaneous clock moves and the R and L in that Ja Perm alg is that with clock, your moves with each hand can pretty much act independently of each other. Doing R and L isn't the same on 3x3 since you have to adjust your hand for R based on how you do L (or vice versa). You bring up a good point though. Since I haven't completely "mastered" turning with this method, I don't completely do moves simultaneously sometimes. For simplicity's sake, I consider all pairs of front and back moves on clock as single simultaneous moves. Ideally they'd be around the same speed as normal moves, but there's a lot more to pay attention to as well as a lot more accuracy required when doing 2 moves at a time, so it ends up being slower. Imo clock turn metrics are pretty difficult to standardized (or just underexplored). There are things to consider like pin transitions, number of dial clicks, and whether or not moves can be done simultaneously, but in my experience, most of the time people just talk about the number of pin positions (like when they say that Sheerin is 9 moves since it requires 9 pin positions). You really got me thinking with this one lol
@JudeStradtner2 жыл бұрын
How is memo with this method? Is it similar/the same as Sheeran?
@TommyCherry2 жыл бұрын
it's harder for sure, but you don't need to memo *all* of the moves to have a 7 simul move solution. I only memo 4 of them cuz it's easier, and since u can do the last 3 intuitively, whatever difference it would make to also memo those would be pretty small. I memo 4 simultaneous moves as 4 letter pairs, which is about the same as 3BLD corners (or 2BLD lol), but the calculations u need in order to memo those letter pairs are a lot harder than just tracing like you would in 3BLD. I think lots of people will be able to use it even without much bld experience/memo practice cuz a lot of it is just about getting the process down so it becomes automatic. also the method's still in its early stages, so other things may be better to focus on for maximizing inspection than memoing moves that aren't necessary to figure out in inspection.
@TommyCherry2 жыл бұрын
u do memo in a kinda similar way, but there's significantly more to memo with this one
