Actually if you watched the whole episode you'd know that after Lisa told Marge to stop working for her fancy school, Lisa hugged Marge and Lisa's face was disappointed that she was gonna turn out like her mom. But I think she's not gonna turn out like marge coz Lisa doesn't seem the type to get pregnant while being in uni and have to give up studies to became a full time housewife (that's what happened to Marge with homer)

I know Lisa hides her disappointment after saying she'd be happy to turn out like Marge in that final scene, but I think it's less that she was lying and more that there were some mixed feelings. Like, she wants to be the most successful individual she can, but I think after seeing how truly living and selfless her mother is, I think part of her honestly kinda would be happy to be like her mother in those specific aspects.

People have a bad habit of only seeing the worst in Lisa like she gave up her scholarship just because she doesn’t want to see her mom overworked just like she gave up her pony for the same thing. Hard take: Parents SHOULD do their best to make sure their kids get all the help that they need. Bart should get supplementary tutoring and Lisa should go to a better school. Marge should get a job. I really mean it. The Simpsons should have Marge finding a job and keep her in it. (Like Lisa stayed vegetarian.) It would be way more realistic and there'd be an interesting dynamic, if ́Marge actually had a career. You could cuxtapose her working hard with Homer's laziness. Harder take: It should not cost you much if anything to do so. Because a better educated kid is more likely to contribute more to society.

Perhaps. At least the public school prepares one for the real world? Life is a marathon not a sprint.
@JuMiKu
@JuMiKu 16 күн бұрын
@harmhoeks5996 It doesn't though. Rich kids have a way higher chance to achieve higher degrees than kids from lower income families and have a way higher chance to achieve better careers due to that and further support. Life is in fact a sprint, especially for lower income kids. It's a sad fact. If you don't support your kid in their learning years, they are unlikely achieve much later. I'm not saying that keeping them in isolation for the sole purpose of studying is correct either. Kids should play. A lot! But realistically, Lisa would have turned into a bigger terror than Bart (highly intelligent kids will find ways to elleviate their own boredom and frustration, if left in normal classes). Bart would end up falling behind further and further, likely ending up as one of the many functionally illiterate people in the US. He would not suddenly be able to turn his life around and study law. The notion that the horrible conditions in public school prepare you for life is propaganda meant to keep criticism quiet. It's much cheaper than actually fixing the broken system that doesn't support the weak and doesn't let the strong flourish either.

@Solid-Lion_Official I know. I grew up in the 90s when it was pretty unusual for moms to be working. Not unheard of, but not definitely not the norm. However, the Simpsons takes place in the present and tackles modern issues now. They should update their family unit.

A struggling mom that stressed. Oh yes, adding more struggles, stress, and sleepless nights won't make a difference at all. Just because she already does that doesn't mean it won't take a much harder toll on her when adding more to her plate. It's a mother's job to do whatever she can for her children, but if she runs herself in the dirt for it, she may not be able to keep up for long.

Lisa is a hidden narcissist. The way she talks down to everyone but yet trying to be sweet at the same time. Yes, she saw Marge do the laundry for the academy but then she sacrifices her quest for knowledge and lies to her mom about wanting to end up like her, you can hear the disappointment and then see it in her face that she really dont wanna sacrifice her happiness for her mom but she ends up doing it anyway. Its been proven in episodes that she would rather not end up like her mom.

Lisa is in no danger of ever turning out like Marge, the reason being is because she will never grow up into adulthood which is a requirement. 30+ seasons and she's still a young girl, so yeah. I don't count the so called 'future episodes' like Bart becoming Chief Justice or Lisa becoming President or whatever, because those are all 'What if' scenarios. Realistically (and most canonically), she will always remain an adolescent alongside her siblings.
