This is so much like it's like in so many shops all over the place, struggling to do things with less than perfect tools and equipment and I think that's the appeal to so many people. We can all identify with what's going on, Chad is one of us, not perfect. His videos are not neatly cut removing all the mistakes or normal tedious things so it's just like going to visit that buddy and hangIng out there for a few minutes or even the better part of two hours like this video. Having met Chad I can verify this is him, not altered for the public or adjusted for marketability, he is as giddy as a school boy when he's around cars and incredible protective when it comes to his family. Love the videos.

Monday morning quarterback here; Chad, remove some of the items on the engine for the first TRIAL FIT. They can be placed after you are comfortable with the initial fit-up. No reason to keep the fan, exhaust, and bell housing on. Less possible damage to the car and engine that way. Thanks for sharing!

I think it should be said that Jolene was a big part of this episode. The wisdom and knowhow between Doug, Chad and Steve gott'r done and it was a treat to watch. Jolene handled that camera and the shot framing like a pro. With the 3 mechanics walking around the project she still managed to be where she needed to be for the shot. Good job all around to all involved. I could tell that because of her inobtrusive camera work it only took a few minutes for the boys to totally forget she was filming...Sometimes that is the most important job of filming.

Chad, I would guess that they want you to put in the saddle to make the frame even stronger than it as is because the Jag motor is so heavy. Those guys are GREAT and they love you. They are very gentle but insistent because they don't want to insult you. They respect you and your talent and are helping you by honoring that. Tony

I have the same engine lift and used to experience the same lack of control on lowering the "boom"....until I had the idea to attach a long bolt to the T valve using two tiny hose clamps and this made a nice lever to control the valve very precisely and allows you to also keep the handle in the jack so you can quickly go up if you need to

Doug is really an original and such a nice guy! Youre blessed by having him around you... I know you really appreciate him, but was hard to watch cause it doesnt gets catched on camera that way. You should tell him and steve that you appreciate a lot and let them know you will give sth back after its finished. As you said in the last video, you forget sometimes to thank people or give sth back... but good is you know it yourself and want to do better. I think youre a very good person as well, and you think a lot about life and treating people right etc. On the other hand youre very confuse and hectic and youre workspace is a mess, but i think all great artists have kind of that attitude and thats what make them iconic and give them theyre character... You should buy steve a plasmacutter and for doug something else, maybe sth unique like a cool sign of your collection fir his garage or so.

Chad, cut out a template wit a sheet of cardboard. Cutout a part that fits around and over the bell housing, then from the engine side trace out the pattern you need for how much room for the engine recess .I would go down about 6" from the top of the hood on the firewall just to make sure you leave enough room for the linkage fore your wiper assembly and motor. Width of the recess should be a couple inches wider than the width of the widest part of the rear of the motor. Been following this build from day one, so nice to see it all come together. Congrats.

Really love the build overall!..a few suggestions from another old hot rod builder..Get a 2" chopped Model A radiator made for a modern v8 swap..Common part in the hot rod world, so its not expensive..plus it'll fit better that the mustang rad and look tons better. Also consider correcting the spines running down the tops of the front fenders, they are splayed out when viewed from the front, making it look a little bowlegged, instead of running vertical like the original car. This car will be great for sure!

Measure twice, install engine once. This is one very impressive build and the Jaguar engine is the perfect choice. Yes, you can get a custom radiator built to your specs in aluminum and nice and thick. Walker radiators may be a name to check out. You will have to have a motor mount that unbolts from the frame so that you can install and remove the engine.

I just read a month or two ago that Walker was planning on going out of business after 70 or 80 years of being in business. I'm not sure if it happened yet though.

I was surprised there was no discussion of motor mounts and pads. It was always a main concern when I did a conversion. An interesting Jag to AMC six was extremely easy as the original frame pads of the Jag exactly coincided with the mounts of the AMC. Those AMC's were very adequate replacements with little tuning problems in contrast to the Jags.

I think I would have cut a bigger opening in the firewall before I installed the engine, then build the firewall to fit the engine. Then he could have gotten the engine in from the top. Awesome job so far Chad and Jolene, can't wait to see it finished 👍👍👍

Thats some great fitment! It would look good if you recess the firewall some where the head is though. A little more clearance and the radiator will fit better possibly. Just a idea I had.

Hello Chad & Jolene from England, I am an old guy, and a retired painter, cellulose, and synthetic, two-pack had just been invented early 70's, though I did use a ready-mixed product called blending clear for metallics. I have never undertaken work like you do, although in my later years I wish I could. I think I might be ahead of the game here but I realised very early on the only way to get the engine in was from below. Good job. Jolene has top-class video skills, and the production is always faultless.

The body is looking very slick. Just taking a peek as “sparkle” pans around. Super tight on the motor but that’s what you expected. Looks like the firewall might need a recess to allow room for a radiator. Dropping the motor is just typical. Try and try to be careful and shit happens.

Its not a bugatti... It's a Frankenstein bat mobile like most of his cars. Shower rod and a shit ton of body filler. Not bashing him if people actually buy this shit, but it's exactly that. Apparently there is a market for everything, but I think it takes away from actual fabricators, metal workers, mechanics, and every other car building professional. I feel sorry for the poor sucker that has to have work done on that car or motor.

it's a good idea to put padded blankets on the body so if the engine touches anything it has a barrier to stop damage, also that cut out on the firewall for the engine looks like he cut it with tin snips

If you drill a hole through the jack handle, near the end, that is just big enough to pass a large Phillips screwdriver though... you will have a positive way to adjust it in fine degrees. Also great for those who have worn out their grip strength. Love the channel.

I have been following and lovin' this beautiful creation for Chad's friend all through eh, I cannot imagine why ya didn't just cut the top sides and slide the engine in, instead of taking the low road, which to me seemed like a whole tonne more work. Though a beautiful object, I would be hating on it to do any work on any of the the side components with so very little room, it does not seem user-friendly access-wise, am I wrong?

A radiator shop can make a radiator any height desirable. The bottom tank and top tank will determine the thickness. Love your videos. Take care.

I agree, those side vent panels should be removable (bolted in not welded in) in case access to carburetors or the steering mechanisms are needed in the future for example.

I agree, also the radiator grill should be removable. The original cars had clamshell hoods, that made it easier to install the engine and maintain. But We have to admit he has done a wonderful job building a beautiful car! He is very talented! Although it probably would have been easier to build the chassis, completely with the engine and drive train and steering and brake components first, then build the body around it. But you must agree, that a lot of of builders, could not even accomplish what he has!

Use an open-end quarter inch wrench to turn the valve on the hydraulic jack, and that will help with the dropping
