Now what if, this is just a theory During the ancient calamity, when the 3 sisters fought, the 4th shade got caught in the conflict, the carriage destroyed and the 4th fell from the carriage We fish paimon out of a lake(?) Near the the unknown island associated with time(aka aria aka istaroth), if aria was the only one alive, then maybe she made so That the 4th fell near that island to make sure she could watch her? Whenever we use the time function PAIMON is the ONLY thing that moves. Not even the traveler. Kinda proves that she's keeping an eye on her...Remember after the Summer Archon quest when N(? I don't remember the letter😭) told the Traveler and Paimon that even if the memories are altered in Irminsul, their overall fate can not? If I'm speculating correctly maybe Istaroth decided to spare Paimon out of pity or some greater purpose, leading her to engage with Sonett and Canon in the Final Composition. I feel like there's a Fourth part of the Aria, Sonnet, and Canon trio. Maybe... Harmony? Not to mention Harmony brings everything together. Perhaps she will face Aria in the Final Duet. Now hear me out, Paimon said she "fell" into the lake (And we all know Genshin *loves* to add splashes of angels and the Ars Goetia into the mix) and "falling" refers to an Angel(Paimon) getting kicked out of Heaven (Celestia or the Silver Carriage which we know is in the sky floating above Teyvat *Which is Hebrew for Ark* 😮) and losing their powers and becoming Demons. Everybody Major from Celestia has an Ars Goetia name which is Filled with Demons that have fallen from heaven and some had their memories which is intrinsically linked to Power, corrupted. The Law of Erosion is not only losing your power but your *memories* as well. When I read your comment I had the mental image of Paimon getting pushed out of the Silver Carriage (if it's a Literal carriage at all) and falling ☄️ through the sky, burning her memories and power up, reducing her to the form we know today. In real world astronomy comets are asteroids that reach extremely high speeds, causing them to ignite and burn material for short periods of time and reducing their overall form until there is nothing left. Paimon was nearing the end of her "short" period of time. Her memories and power burnt away, her Divine Flame only extinguished by the waters near her sisters island where the traveler found her. Not to mention the Ars Goetia description of Paimon says the Paimon can stay underwater indefinitely if so choosed to do so. There's also no Indication of how long Paimon was underwater. Her memories would have been erased as her power diminished so she probably has no idea how long she was underwater. In genshin we know that when a Divine Being loses their power they get reduced to a child like form. This would explain why NO ONE in current era Teyvat knows who or what exactly Paimon is. If we look at the description that the melusine gave Paimon her string *could* be compared to as the reigns of the carriage.maybe it was paimon's turn to drive and after Aria defeated Sonett and Canon she casted Paimon down without killing her. The *Body* of Aria that we see could just be an illusion. Like she faked her death after exiling paimon and killing the other. Perhaps she did this so paimon's memories wouldn't be triggered to come back by knowing Aria was alive subconsciously. I don't remember anyone mentioning Istaroth directly by name in front of paimon either so she wouldn't make the connection. Leaving her there at the lake for the traveler to find knowing that he was there and could fix the grievances of the world. Thus Paimon still fulfills her role of Harmony. Sorry for the regurgitation of speculation 🙏🏿😅

A quick little thing on the Moon Sisters, though I'm unsure how it will fit in... If you go into your teapot, and cycle it through night several times, you will find there are 3 different and distinct skies there. Only one of those skies is the one we see at night in Teyvat proper. Are we seeing the homes of all 3 sisters in the sky there?

I discovered this trait of different skies by accident, I wanted a night sky picture with the moon at a specific point, but set the time passed that point. Imagine my surprise when I set the time right, but the night sky itself was not a completely different one! (we won't go into how the night sky doesn't move either lol)

The statue in Inazuma looks oddly like the Welkin Moon girl. The wiki also says that the character portrayed in that statue went by the moniker “Thousand Armed, Hundred Eyed” which may be a reference to a real-life figure named Guanyin who apparently is also LITERALLY named Kannon in Japan which blew my mind a bit Also, personally i’ve always thought Paimon, the Unknown God (Asmoday), and Welkin Moon are the 3 moon sisters

7:40, i think its because of perspective, from the eyes of the enkanomiyan people ( and Nabu Malikata ), "The Second Who Came" brought destruction to teyvat because of pure will of destruction, they never meet and know nibelung, thus, they categorize Nibelung as a new entity ( Invader ), different from Neuvilette, that call the war "The War of Vengeance" since he's looking through the lens of the dragons.

Just making sure, this is NOT official lore ,or officially released by hoyo. The book are ofc and the animation is splendid,but hoyofair is a community based event that " collects" a variety of fan animations. They are all amazing and professionally made, sure, but its always worth taking them for fan animations and never as confirmations of anything. The canon appearance of the moon sisters is still unknown. This has the same lore weight as Navia and Xiangling opening a bakery in a cyberpunk Fontaine

The second who came was not Nibelung. According to Neuvillette, the first throne and "one who came after" joined forces in the great war of vengeance involving Nibelung.

Does that paragraph really imply that though? It only mentions the creation of the gnoses with 'the one who came after' not necessarily that they were present during the War of Vengeance nor that they fought together against Nibelung. If anything, it seems like the usurper fought in that war, got wounded, and afterwards got help in restoring peace. "Severely wounded in the great war of vengeance, the usurper had their functions ruined, and could no longer use their absolute authority to suppress the original order of this world. To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together."

Also, Neuvillette refers to the 2nd descender as "one who came after" in reference to the "usurper" (1st descender), meaning they are both usurpers. If "the one who came after" were Nibelung, Neuvillette would've referred to him as such as would have used a more adequate title such as "Dragon King".

Interestingly enough, at night you can clearly see the stars converging to a dome. Never noticed it until running around through the Sumeru desert at night. Welkin Moon lasts 30 days similar to the Enkanomiya achievement. Not to mention that Welkin is offering us guidance in form of primogems.

I am not sure about Nibelung being the second who came. Becuse one of Neuvilette's character stories imply that The Usurper and the one who came after made gnoses together. Well Nibelung may also tried to harvest the power of other dragon soveirngs and indirectly helped making the gnoses but for me that seems unlikely.

It remind me of one of the Sumeru Darshan, their logo is a Horse with a time piece/Hourglass if I remember things correctly. And we know some of these symbol represent real genshin creatures as another darshan symbol is a peacock and match the description of Simurgh both the real life myth and the ingame Simurgh that the 2 out of 3 goddess of life created

7:33 YOO i've actually written a theory about this all the way back in 4.2! I think that nibelung isn't the 2nd who came, but the third descender, and that PO and SWC fought together against him. I made a post on r/genshin_lore about it, here's what i wrote: " First off, "before the sun and moon" only states that, after the SWC arrived, war was rekindled, but it was never explicitely stated between who. Neuvillette character story even implies that they worked together at some point (unless "the one who came after" is not SWC but third descender). So, who was the war actually against? It was against the dragons again. Neuvillette's character story calls it "the great war of vengeance". What would vengeance have to do with PO and SWC fighting? Unless they've met before which would be a whole other can of worms, their fight wouldn't be described using the term vengeance. Now, someone who would seek vengeance against the throes, are the dragons. But wait, if PO defeated the dragons by itself, why would PO and SWC fighting the dragons together be any sort of challange? Because Nibelung only used the power of the abyss in the second fight. Nibelung came back at some point (since the dragons seem to naturally reincarnate), and harnessed abyssal powers to fight. I think this would make more sense than Nibelung managing to summon forbidden knowledge during the fight. But if this were correct, then who is the third descender? How would PO and SWC even defeat a descender when they were so weakened after the fight against the abyss-buffed dragon king? The end of the 4.2 narzissenkreuz ordo world quest adds a big hint to who it might be. I think the third descender is actually just Nibelung. So, we know Narzissenkreuz/Rene wanted to become a descender. It was his end goal and it might have actually been possible. Which just means that even those originally from teyvat can become descenders. So, Nibelung actually went into the abyss to gather forbidden knowledge. When he came back, he was classified as a Descender. PO and SWC just barely defeated him for the second fight and used his corpse to make the gnoses."

Because istaroth is know for not letting people in what you could call “dangerous situations” just like when she helped the people in enkanomya, so her helping the boy in the book series has sense. I think paimon is none other than istaroth/kairos...one of the four shining shades... The rest two hesperous and phosphorous are the other moons... The proof to this is that paimon gave us the power to change the day and night time duration of tevyat.. More over we found paimon all alone in the sea.. May be she shrinked to this form just like nahida did and lost her memories... And as minsleif said she killed her other two sister... So according to this the only two remaining shades are paimon/istaroth/kairos and the asmoday(sustainer)

Another thing to consider is that maybe the "Horse Adeptus" wasn't actually an adeptus! Over the years, characters traveling acoss Teyvat have repeatedly mistook various entities for their home varient, such as mistaking Inazuma's Youkai as a Liyue Adepti! Even Kirara mistook Diona to be another Youkai living in Mondstadt! If the writer of the Moonlight Bamboo Forest were to describe an entity they've never seen before, that bears similarities to something more recognizable, they would likely call it such! Just think about the Leviathan in the Bible book of Job, or the Dragons of Eastern Asia! Neither are the regional names of these creatures of mythology, but both "Leviathan" and "Dragon" came from a European translation since those creatures were of familiar description to the people it was being translated for! If a person from Liyue were to see Yae Sakura walking through the hills of Liyue, they'd mistake her for a Fox Adeptus instead of a Kitsune (a.k.a. a Fox Youkai)! So why not this "Horse Adeptus"?

I've tried to connect the Golden Eyed Woman to a seelie or even Rhinedottir, but honestly there's nothing to imply she's a Moon Sister and its pretty clear that she is a horse adepti. That said, in Journey to the West, the chinese saga that has many beings that are similar to Liyue Adepti, has a White Horse character. But in that story, the White Horse is actually a transformed Dragon. Which would be very interesting if applied to Genshin.

Ok, so Canon: Basically being a composition that has a melody that is followed by the same melody but in a different key. Sonnet: A sonnet means little song, but it can also mean, a poem with 14 lines. Aria: Is a solitary voice, a solo. What i think is Aria is the moon currently in the sky, the dead sister who hangs overhead all alone. Sonnet is Istaroth, as she's the goddess of time and who Venti, a god who is known for his poems and songs, is apart of. Canon is the goddess of flowers who is implied to be a former seelie and was exiled to earth, leading to her leaving a trail of flowers that resembled the moon in her wake wherever she stepped and who spawned the Jinn who also followed her. Basically, she's constantly followed by echoes of her self.

I think Hesperus is the Welkin moon sister since she gives the primogems, and we can also gather primogems through chests, and to unlock the achievement in Enka, we also need to open chests. Boons are also known as blessings or gifts afterall. But the fact that she might or might not be the moon in the sky since Welkins means "Sky vault", counters this theory itself. Idk just a speculation. Another Interesting and fun lore video tho!!!

i think nibelung is the 3rd descender, not the second who came. remember those words for the descenders? they can create, sustain, destroy and protect the world? According to Neuvillette's vision story the Primordial one and the second who came somehow came together to create the gnoses, and what better reason to unite two previous enemies than a vengeful dragon that came to take back his world with forbidden knowledge? the first descender created, the second sustained (idk if its the unknown god but given her title as the sustainer of HP, it checks, the third wanted to destroy, and now we as the fourth are going to protect the world. Unrelated but I lowkey have a feeling that the abyss sibling being summoned to Khaenri'ah was an attempt to create an artificial descender, don't know if it's the reason for the cataclysm

Minsleif, I have a theory, Do you think that Dainsleif and Tsaritsa could be canon in Genshin? Cuz you know they have so many similarities with the light prince and the pale princess. And especially you can find this similarities when you read the book ‘The Pale Princess and The Six Pygmies’. It’s going to be so cool if it indeed is them 🥰

I don't think so i don't believe the tsaritsa being pale princess thing the book literally tells us the story of khaenri'ah, the pure blooded khaenri'ahns have blue eyes and the books says there's monsters on the edges of the kingdom and we knew that from perinheri book the khaenri'ah kingdom was located among the abyss and the teyvat (the flame of the 2 world)

Well a lot more information can be extracted from lores in Chinese language, the three moon sisters were refered as "空月” “渊月” and “赤月”, 空月 is also the same name as the "welkin moon" in Chinese, and “渊月” is the same name as buff in the spiral abyss, so we assume these two are the ones who were dead from the catastrophy in ancient time, and the other one "赤月” (red moon, blood moon, crimson moon) is usually assumed as the god who prevented you from leaving when you first enter this game. I also think it is so hard for mihoyo to take care of all the lores in the 4 different languages available, but since they are china based, I suggest the naming in Chinese language might be very crucial to understand the lores.

And I always have associated the Moonlit Bamboo story to the Mondstat story Drunkard's Tale, which also has a mysterious woman playing music for seelies and reminiscing about the past, to a wolf (wolves being among the few that remember the Moon Sisters)

5:39 Phosphoros’s Guidance suggests this figure had more to do with Seelies than the other two, Hesperus’s Boons suggests possibly being a wealth god of some kind, and Kairos’s Constancy is fittingly linked to Time Trials, since we know Kairos is Istaroth, the god of time. I lay all this out to draw connections to the Archons; Venti is the Anemo god and the god of freedom as a concept, Zhongli is the Geo god and the god of contracts, etc etc. Phosphoros, Hesperus, and Kairos could’ve been moon gods and gods of things more specific to them as individuals as well.

After a seelie fell inlove with a Descender blessed by the Moon sisters, Celestia cursed the seelie race. The Moon sisters suddenly turned against each other then Celestia casted the seelies out of heavens and transformed them into mindless sprites we see today. Teyvat's moon, Welkin moon, and the Abyssal moon, may or may not be the remains of the sisters.

I think that maybe the unknown god could be aria considering that when the outsiders (us) came, she immediately stopped us because she knew crap was gonna go wrong if we fell in live w a seelie. Also, paimon might be the one that was “killed” but not tured into the moon (i forgot which one i think it was canon?). But what if she was just fatally wounded, fell in the sea, and forgotten? Even forgotten by her own self? Just a thought :)

If there is indeed relation between the moon sisters and horse figures, it really makes me wonder then about something. The moon sisters have names related to music, and clearly Istaroth is more intimate to humans than the other two are because of Enkanomyia, so what is the deal with the new world boss coming in next patch? Remus wanted to make a "perfect symphony capable of putting all minds together" or something among those lines, and now we have a half horse and half human boss that fights using music. There's no way it's just a simple coincidence right?
