One thing I miss from DVDs and BluRays being popular are all the bonus behind the scenes content they add. Literally hours long footage from LotR showing how things were made, stunts, makeup, etc. Streaming services don’t usually have that content.

@@rivengle a lot of those LOTR videos ended up on KZbin! I watched them a few years ago. My favorite, speaking of stunts, was Dominic Monaghan talking about how John Rhys-Davies approach to fight choreography was just letting the stunt people run at him, and then hitting them with his axe.

I've never understood why there's no 'Stunts' category in award shows. They work their bodies so hard, they deserve the recognition.
@noesunyoutuber7680
@noesunyoutuber7680 3 жыл бұрын
The reasoning the awards people give is that how impressive a stunt is depends heavily on how dangerous it is. Thus, having an award that will likely go to whoever did the riskiest stunt would lead to people doing riskier and riskier stunts, endangering lives in the process. But it's never been tested because no mainstream awards show does stunts.
@introverted_unicorn
@introverted_unicorn 3 жыл бұрын
@@noesunyoutuber7680 even if the academy acknowledges stunt performers that doesn't mean safety rules & regulations go out the window. Why would acknowledge someone who intentionally breaks safety protocol? Difficult decision. He could have caused permanent damage to his hand and effectively ended his career. It's been almost 5 years since I've stopped training but I've never forgotten how to break a fall because of my instructor. He taught me how and why it's important, as well as explained the techniques in a way that made it easy to follow. That's what makes me appreciate how Gui teaches the guys. It’s to remove fear and learn how to fall properly when doing throws and takedowns. But ya you are on point, it’s all the same basic principles on protecting yourself during falls. Wrestlers practice this and rolling for months before learning anything else

Gui is awesome, he should open a stuntman school! His explanation of things and his sternness from letting Clint get carried away really impressed me, he's a natural teacher! It's one thing to tell someone how to do something, it's another to explain it in a way people can understand and, more importantly, how to stay safe. My respect for him this episode has just skyrocketted, ngl.
