Pro tip: To prevent mold, mildew, fungus, etc. get some colloidal silver (like a gal+) and make a 10% solution with water. Spray it over everything before storage. The water will evaporate and the silver will permanently protect the surfaces.

Yes you are right about your children. I remember when my daughter Isla ( island 🏝️ in Spanish) turned 2. Kids are talking and their personalities come out. Captain Willa is literally going to be the captain. What a great way to grow up. Love watching your children growing up with you both. Never mind any of the negative comments some people send, they probably won't cross the street 😂. It was so perfect Ben talking about being chosen. I was going to say how nice it was that you sent that clip to the chosen one on Parley Revival ( Stephen) . Take care always ❤️

From a fellow Canadian (ex South African) Enjoy the life folks, life goes by so quickly that, before you realize it, you have to look at the alternative to sailing. I started in Durban, South Africa in 1986 when my son was 15 months old. Now I am 74 and currently planning my last trip from Luperón DR to Mexico, where I will most likely retire, ….. trying to share a life between Nova Scotia and Mexico. A life at sea cannot be replaced, ever, by life on land but, with old age, comes the loss of agility and the ability to keep on top of the inevitable boat work……. enjoy it with your girls, even though they are young, and may not remember everything, you are creating a base,w high they will always remember

Hi, a quick thought for you in Nassau - Paradise Island, the Atlantis Resort has a great pool and swim river the kids would love. It's a fantastic Resort, with an Aquarium, and ponds throughout the Resort all very cool for kids to enjoy, and there is a Giant Chair which is a great place to have family photos. Loved Nassau Zoo as well as the fabulous small animals the kids can feed the Flamingo March and Walz performance is wonderful and the birds love it. SAFE SEAS AND SAIL, Beautiful Vessel by the way - wonderful you are sharing with us ❤️👏🏻🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️🇦🇺

A dehumidifier that drains into the sink and then out of the boat would run off the solar panels everyday in the tropics. Button the boat up to keep the moisture out. I’ve used one for years in FL with no mildew inside. You don’t let it drain into the bilge because it will stink.

😂 Sooo excited for the next leg of your journeys. As a Canadian reading the comments, I know why people like you so much. I guess I finally see that you are the epitome of being Canadian.❤ and that's why you are so appealing to so many. I really am so excited for the future. And like all of us I adore watching your children grow and experience this wonderful lifestyle. I so look forward to Sunday morning sitting with my coffee and watching the next episode. Lots of love to you all.

I don't know if you have tried this, but spray vinegar everywhere and wipe it down. Don't wash it off! You would want to do this both inside and out. It is a trick that I use on things that tend to mildew and mold. I would test it on a small inconspicuous spot on the gel coat before doing the whole boat, but it shouldn't be strong enough to do anything.

My fav boating channel... I have seen so many channels and they start out great but become more and more commercial / Like they try to top the last vid every single time and it becomes un natural, forced. your channel just stays at the same pace telling it as it is. I think it helps others make a decision about choosing this lifestyle, if its for them or not. Just day to day lie is exiting enough and interesting enough. I get sick of click bait like we almost sunk our boat only to find nothing even close happened. I see a lot of channels with bikinis as the thumb nail and as great as that might be its same old same. Just a simple family living a normal life works better for me at least. Bad explanation from me but this channel I feel shows how life for me on a boat would look. Well done.

You’ve got that so right! All the same Corporate companies 🙄 doing their deals with sailors, it’s become so tedious, I just fast forward through the banter now. Got to say I’m looking forward to ash and Ben out on their kites, teaching the kids how to swim and snorkel, and once again immersing us into cultures of countries they visit, that those other sailors choose not to do, so big Kudos to Nahoa for keeping it authentic and doing their own thang!

Very useful video for a boat owner. When I went sailing for three months on someone else's boat, I put the big dehumidifier over my galley sink, plugged it in, left it running, and the sink thruhull open. The previous owner I'd inherited it from had it at 60%, I put it at 50% hoping to dry out the distant corners a bit. (Next I think I'll leave some fans running.) My friends' catamaran I sailed on,spent our last week before arriving in Victoria, BC, in thick fog, everything inside streaming water... They bought two dehumidifiers one for each ama. I wonder if it might be possible to rig up one solar panel to run a low voltage dehumidifier. Put mesh over the one or two thruhulls it (they) drain into (if it's on the hard). I also have this idea..... that someone should train a dog to find those hidden spots where the boat stink lurks. As I dig deeper and deeper into my Hunter I only see dryness, but I also see these holes beyond the nearly inaccessible holes.... (I know when Aladino on Sailing Magic Carpet finished tearing out all the interior furniture, walls etc in their project boat he found a puddle of water that had probably been there for decades.) And your AC hole. Good idea. My friends on their Seawind 1260 did something I think is brilliant. They cut a big ~10 cm hole in the hanging cabinets of each cabin, then they installed a low voltage very quiet computer fan on exhaust. Then they drilled holes from the hanging cabinet to the other cabinets and down into the bilge and up the other side. Now there is a constant steady movement of air through all the otherwise blind spaces. I would've thought, that the blind storage I packed my clean clothes int, should be no problem at all. It's sealed, my clothes are packed in. Nope. After that week of fog, even the clothes deep in the middle smelled like mildew. (On my boat I've just removed all the bed linen to the fore cabin, washed it. Washed some of it again. Now I'll store it in large heavy duty trash bags until it's used. For my clothes I made white silnylon drybags that go around the bins I use. Works pretty good. with the bins inside it's not like rummaging around in a bag looking, it's open it up, look in. The white silnylon lets in a lot of light. I seal the seams. I learned that if a drybag is flimsy, use a strip of webbing across at least one side of the opening, makes it easier to open and close. And these bags will probably never really get soaked, so close is good enough.

So filled with joy to witness this video. I’ve missed your smiling faces last wk but I gotta say that the way yall planned your season away from the boat was nice: didn’t leave me without contact to your loving family very long. Although I had hoped to see more of your homeland, a country I’ve always loved-so many trees and all, not covered up in cemented city clothing and all. Your lives are art, I know yall believe it. Refreshing and enviable. I’m glad you saved that time for yourselves and family n friends. Couldn’t love y’all much more if I kept you in my shirt pocket. Thanks for making our lives better by getting to witness ‘the wind beneath your wings.’ May the powers that be always lead your steps, floating and otherwise. 👩‍🌾🧜‍♀️🐌🕊️

I would like to tell you about my favorite time with Nahoa (You and your sailing channel). You were in Indonesia and you had a very explorative bend if you will. You explored wood boat yards where they built those amazing boats. You could almost smell the wood it was so real. Then you went into the jungle, exploring. I don't remember everything, just that I really liked what you were doing at that time, it was a style like no other channel. Its really good to see you in such a happy state as a family. Merry Christmas Thanks. Michael.

Ben, maybe it is the audio but that starboard engine did not sound as healthy as the port. There was an audible tick on that side. Without going back to old videos, is that the one where you bent a pushrod? Perhaps the valves need adjustment on that side? I am no expert, just a shadetree mechanic for fun. Good to see you back and hope the break was a great one.

Two weeks ago I saw the video you guys did of "sailing with the locals" there in the Proa style "sailing canoe". Huge game changer for me. I have a "broken" sailboat. Tree fell on it 20 years ago. Scheduled for demolition. It's all there. A 19 foot lake boat. Very fast in it's day. Trying to rebuild the hull ~ wider transom etc. Took all the fiberglass decking off, most of the cockpit. Just the centerboard and the shell of the hull on a trailer. Well. I now have a plan to make the hull NARROW, like a Canoe. With Ama's that are portable. (See the Corsair 880). Excellent NORTH sails. Etc. THANK YOU SO MUCH ~ Not gonna lie. Because of you guys. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Best wishes. ✨🌸🌟🌸✨. ~~~. I am now subscribed ~. Oh yea. Not worthy. From New Hampshire. ✨🌸👍🌸✨. 🇺🇸. ✨. 🇨🇦 ✨.

Great video, rejoining your boat after a break.. clearly the entire family is rejoicing. All environments have pros and cons. I am learning so much watching various sailing channels…what i just realized was you need to plan the entire year, so at hurricane season your boat is safe someplace…or be on the other side of the world…so much to do, and children too…you don’t have that much “sitting around” time i bet. Thanks for sharing….

Lesson learned the hard way. Take the impellers out, or grease them up with petroleum jelly, otherwise the can stick to the housing over time, and as soon as you turn over the engine, even one turn, the impeller sheers off the blades. If they are rubber-like.
