This is what I was always taught- leave a space better than you found it! It has always been in the back of my mind, and probably why people appreciate my company! 💕

Back in 1973 my friend and I picked up a hitch-hiker and drove with him from Nevada to southern California. It was lucky because when we got to my house my brother was having a bad trip and the hitch-hiker guided him through the experience. He stayed at our place for one night, then made his way to wherever he was going and left his Stetson hat for me. 😊 P.S. Isn't this the most Boomer comment ever? 😂

In the early 90s I would meet People working and invite them to stay at my home for free since they were traveling and from out of town or lived in Europe and go to eat and this is how many people survive and traveled. Just not done today.

We packed 2 hitchhikers into our full car and brought them home for the weekend. We told them they could camp in the yard but then told them to enjoy the livingroom because it was cold out. We let them do laundry and take a hot shower, and they made us really good blueberry pancakes. We never saw them again after that. There was another time we took 2 guys and a dog to the next exit to a camp ground. The next year I was 3 hrs away in the southern part of our state and saw them at a gas station. I was a passenger with friends or else I would have offered them another ride.

Sounds like the old scam where the car gets opened up and a note left inside the car. The note reads sonething like a couple had a medical emergency and needed to get the pregnant wife to the hospital. The note goes on to say they had a take the car and they had a baby girl. They are extremely sorry for doing that but they want to make up for the inconvenience. They attach two movie tickets or a prepaid voucher at a resturant that night. The householder goes to dinner or movie to find their house has been cleaned out.

You never know. I grew up with my parents letting a never ending stream of people stay in our house temporarily while they were short term homeless. They have since moved on to everything from prison to CEO of a solar panel company and a millionaire.
@californiapattycakes4417Күн бұрын
Did any of them keep in contact over the yrs, or come back to visit? 😊
@spanky814Күн бұрын
@@californiapattycakes4417 yeah pretty much all of them. Even the one in prison used to send me one or two dollars for good grades FROM PRISON when my parents would tell him how I was doing over the phone. After he got out, since he had stayed with us before we let him use us as a halfway house and he's got himself a trailer and is off heroin now. The CEO actually met up with me while I was on study abroad to check in and took me for a very expensive night on the town with his wife. Plus my family ended up being briefly homeless for like 2 months when I was in high school and we had like 20 people offering their place to crash at, and one paid for a storage unit for us.

To be fair, he wasn’t a complete stranger . She met his brother first at the Olympics, & set them up . They talked over the phone & online because they were in two different states . So she’s talking about how they met for the first time in person . She found out that he didn’t have a room & was planning on sleeping in his car, so her & her roommate offered to let them sleep at their apartment . Her & her roommate slept in the same room & locked the door “just in case”, & when they woke up they found out that he & his friend has cleaned up their entire apartment . & now that’s her husband of several years & they have kids so it worked out for them, def a lil sketchy at first though

Shawn and her roommate at the time let her now husband Andrew and his brother stay over after their first date because they planned to stay in their car because he flew to another state to go on a date with her I believe. He didn’t ask she offered after finding that out.

Not sure the context but there was a website called "couchsurfing" where you would let people stay with you for free. The exact same as airbnb but before we become capitalist assholes. I hosted dozens of people back then. This was around 2008/2009. My guests were really lucky because I had an extra room just for them. Good times.

So I’m like very trusting my parents did How was treating when I was younger I let anyone stay at my house I’m letting my cleaner stay at my house right now I thought I made friends in Mexico off the street and this girl was like oh do you want to sleep over like the first night we met and it was like with a girl from the hospital and I was like no I’m really tired I think we should go back. And so she was trying to get me to move to Tulum and I thought we were just like friends she told me she had no friends there and then this man on my birthday it’s like After I told him the story he goes where did you meet her and I was like oh and this little bar with classrooms in a pool and he goes that’s a brothel and that’s a prostitute 😂😢So then I didn’t trust her after and so I told him I had like a mental break down because you’re trying to get me to move there and I said I don’t trust that girl I don’t trust anyone like I had a feeling that I was a whale and I just went crazy and then so they made it look like I was the crazy one when they were literally prostitutes and a pimp 😢
