Today we are finally getting our hay on the ground and we are having smoked porkchops with peas and dumplings for supper! If you ain't ever eat peas and dumplings you don't know what your missing!
Peas and dumplings
Simmer 1-2 cups green peas until peas are tender. Add 1 tbsp butter. Add 1 cup milk. Salt, pepper to taste. Continue to simmer while you make your dumplings. For the dumplings use 1 cup self rising flour, 1 tbsp of butter or lard, cut in butter or lard like you were making biscuits. Add about 1/2 ish cup of buttermilk or plain milk. Combine. Bring pea mixture to boil. Drop in small pieces of dumpling dough. Cover and let cook around 5 minutes or until dumplings are fluffy and bready in the middle. Serve warm and enjoy!

We have a turtle that showed up two years ago and she has a shell that is painted red. She hibernates on our property and every spring “Red” goes to our porch and tries to climb up the steps. We spend a lot of time looking for that turtle before we mow.😂

Awe, so sweet Andy saving the turtle, I don't know how he even saw it. Fresh hay has a wonderful smell for sure. Hoping the weather man is right don't you know. TYFS

Yum! Now that is good eating. I have never had them with dumplings. I will try that the next time I have a mess ready. Hope ya'll have a great week and God bless!

A cousin of mine and his family from Indiana came in for a visit. My wife fixed some new potatoes and gravy with fresh peas. They loved it. They even took pieces of cornbread and wiped, or as we say it "sopped the pot" that she fixed the new potatoes and gravy in completely clean. We got a big kick out of it. They said, "that is the best thing we have ever eat. You can't beat good home country cooking.

The reflective tape for the crows, Isn't there some point after the little corn gets tall enough that the crows aren't interested any more? Oh, and I use Bug Buster ll on stink bugs. It even kills those huge Leaf Footed bugs. I had an outburst of them early on my sunflowers. I kept a small sprayer of BB ll in the garden and every time I saw one I sprayed it. They have pretty quickly almost disappeared. The Stink Bugs just devastated the tomatoes, and although you have to be diligent, they disappear when I spray with it. I'm pretty sure we will never completely get rid of any bug. All you can do is manage them. Right?

Love this video, watching Andy cut hay, never saw it on video before. And Megan I am so glad that I ate before I watched this one. Fresh peas from the garden are one of my favorites, my Mama would give me a big bowl and send me to the garden to pick her a mess of peas. I never came back with a full bowl, lol. She would just laugh and say we'll make it work. She knew if she wanted a full bowl she better go with me, happy memories. Supper looked delicious😋 and I do love peas and dumplings 🤤. I have been known to throw some dumplings in pinto beans too. I am gonna start my smoker and try some pork chops soon. I guess Jacob and Maggie must be working behind the scenes today.
