@@mariacavanaugh1010 Even the Partridge family had a hit out of that one, old fast style... lol...I think David Cassidy hated that hahahha, he wanted to do more modern rock stuff and they wouldn't let him.

Elton John does back up vocals on this song on the record. (just not in this live performance the girls are singing Elton's part) Another great 70's song. You are batting 1000 with all these 70's songs. I wish I could go back to the 70's.

Neil Sedaka is a great pop singer, pianist, composer & songwriter from the 50's-70's. He had lots of hits such as "Oh! Carol", "Calendar Girl", "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen", "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do", "Laughter In The Rain" etc. He wrote hits for other artists including "Stupid Cupid" (Connie Francis), "(Is This The Way To) Amarillo" (Tony Christie) & "Love Will Keep Us Together" (Captain & Tennille).

"Breaking Up is Hard to Do" is a Must by him! I've never seen him try to bust some moves before, LOL....but this guy has been around since the 50's, so I'll cut him some slack. A great songwriter/singer!
@thomastimlin1724 Жыл бұрын
He used to lip sync his hits on American Bandstand & other shows sometimes without the piano, it was lack of time, technology for live performances, and the need for expediency on live TV, so he would dance around a little with a big smile on his face, anything to promote the record of course, that's what it was about.. His big hit "Oh Carol," was about his ex-girlfriend, Carole King, they both worked in the songwriting business , the Brille building in NYC in the old days. They are certainly old friends now.

i was a fan of his 50's and early 60's songs and this was kind of a surprise sound when i first heard it, a really difffernt sound than his early songs

Wow! I haven't heard this song in decades! I don't know if I knew it was Neil Sedaka when it was originally on the radio (I was a kid), but I played it in my memories as soon as I saw your video title and instantly realized it was his voice in my head. It's lyrically and topically unlike any other song I know of his that I can think of. I specifically typed in a search for "Neil Sedaka reactions", thinking of songs like "Laughter in the Rain" and "Oh, Carol", but this was an unexpected treat! I'm surprised I'm still finding great songs I forgot existed on KZbin!

As I told you before, Neil was an original member of the group The Tokens whose "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" you've already reviewed. Some good recommendations of some of his earlier hits are here. I would include however "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen" as well.

Neil Sedaka had hits from the 1950s to the 1970s!!!

Due to the British Invasion though he had no hits from about 1964 to 1974, maybe even as early as 1963...Elton John saved his career and gave it new life. Even the most talented, and knowledgeable can get screwed over by the fickle ever changing music business.

Guys please get to more Neil Sedaka I saw in the comments the suggestion for his songs they’re all great love you guys great job. Just so You Know The song Breaking up is hard to do went to number one in 1964 and he re-recorded it as a love ballad in 1974 and it also hit number one I believe it’s the only song to hit number one twice.

Bad Blood was written by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody. The song, with uncredited backing vocals by Elton John reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975, remaining in the top position for three weeks. It was certified Gold by the RIAA and was the most successful individual commercial release in Sedaka's career. "Bad Blood" was replaced at the number 1 spot by Elton John's single "Island Girl"

Not as if it never stopped though. When the British Invasion happened, the Beatles and all, Sedaka, along with 100's of others, was washed up for at least ten years. Then Elton John, who recognized his talent, saved his career, signed him to his record label, and suddenly he was a big hit with new material for himself and others.
