They only released 2 albums. Vince Clarke, the man on the synths, was the main songwriter for Depeche Mode for one album and then he left and formed Yazoo with Alison Moyet. Two albums later they disbanded and after a couple of single projects Vince formed Erasure who are still going today. Yazoo we’re so much fun and a great duo, often mixing soulful blues with synth pop.

Heh, this takes me back to high school. Yazoo was an English synth-pop duo consisting of former Depeche Mode member keyboardist Vince Clarke and singer Alison Moyet. "Don't Go" from their debut album was a worldwide hit. A name clash with Yazoo Records meant they had to market themselves in North America under the name Yaz. The underrated synth pop bop of 1983, in my view, is still Yazoo "Nobody's Diary". Alison Moyet's vocals wonderfully complement Vince Clarke's synths. The audio on the youtube clip of the old video of that is horrible, so check out the youtube clip of the album version instead when you can.

Allison Moyet is the singer and she added a real mature soul sound to our music at the time (New Wave, synth pop...), she also has great songs as a solo artist as well. Vince Clark is the keyboardist, he was originally a member of Depeche Mode. Clark was one of the genius pioneers of electronic music and is revered as one oft he founders of electronica.
