@@davisbradford7438 yes, the second that I get into even the basis everyone's eyes glaze over and I'm always surprised. I love this stuff. My first battery pack ever was a 4kw 72v pack. My advice to anyone is start out a little smaller don't do the inja pack as your first one even my 72v pushed me to my limits

I learned so much about building battery pack with this video. I think resistance calculations about wires that connects batteries into series and parallels are one of most neglected topic among battery builders. And here the pack builder talks more about it more than any other battery packs builder that I watched. Kudos to him for being so passionate and doing a great job.

I learned a bunch from the battery discussion here. I made my first 18650 battery for a Razor 72 volt dirt bike conversion and made a few mistakes that are explained here. I used low amp, high capacity Panasonic cells because I didn't know better and at 4 in parallel, have a huge amount of voltage sag when I ride the bike. I thought just due to the cells, but maybe also due to my wiring. I have some high amp output cells on the way and will do 10 parallel this time, but also focus more on the battery connections this time too.

Stoked for you guys. Love these long detailed videos. You’re going to love that hub motor combined with the available amps in this setup. Glad you won’t have to deal with the same battery issues on the cb. Those HUB motors are crazy powerful and wicked silent. Great design and execution on the battery Lord Curt! The fiberglass bottom was a nice touch. And the sense wires was nice and clean too. Will you run the entire pack through a shunt for monitoring? I like the idea of bypassing a smaller BMS for discharge. I’m still struggling with the space for a 2 phase charger on the bike itself so I can take advantage of charging stations. That would be so clutch

If they are running 32 in series (x 3.2v) wouldn't that be 102.4v? I'm guessing they are running 96v on the controller, and if so is going over voltage safe?

Is some battery criticism welcome? Those cells need to be laser welded and NOT soldered because the heat damages the cells. This is even listed clearly on the sellers ad. Such a large battery pack divided into 3 parts- if and when you get a bad cell it is going to be a nitemare to fix. If you are planning to use the bike for the 5-7 year+ lifespan of the cells, the battery could be more modular. I am using these same cells for an ebicycle build and they are the perfect size. The cells I received had a piece of laser welded nickel strip on them already (cannot use a cheap spot welder on copper), so I can use a cheap $20 BIFRC spot welder to assemble the pack with more nickel. If I need to solder on some extra copper then it is a bit safer because I do not need to solder directly to the copper terminals. Amazing build overall, that is a HUGE battery. I learned some good tips from your vid, thanks!

keeping in mind that there are several types of bms - single cell configs in parallel allow you to better take care of the cells but most of what i've seen about 10% longer lifespan - this also means more than one bms and a discharge controller (i've only seen them as hybrids with integrated multi-bms from oem or custom by a rare few) - on another note (and as with anything) i was reading about a lab study on lithium (i'm a pro batt and charger tech) before we start seeing it more on the industrial side and they found that LiFePO (i believe) cells are best stored in a dead state and that if they're stored in a charged state that is causes rapid degradation - waiting on the peer review to be sure but it's opposite for most all other batt chems - i'm my experience i would keep it at around half charge during storage and just top it off when you want to ride - lithium prefers opportunity charging so no memory effects

So Were talking about a 12+ kwh lithium iron phoshate battery that weighs 160 pounds! Can not fit it in any smaller of a space, what a shame. I need this on my reinforced, moded MC wheel cargo side loader bike!...yet that is much heavier than the previous 7kw lithium ion battery, 100+ pounds. Need that solid bms setup for reliability this time. If it could maintains 30wh or less per mile then 300 to 320 miles on a discharge down to 20% battery left...exactly what i seek! Future plans while rubbing hands together. Very heavy indeed!

Question, how do you know what gauge of copper or if copper will be sufficient enough to handle the current for the battery connectors? I'm not building my own battery but im currently using a battery 72v battery at 120A continuous output but i've ordered a new battery with high discharge cells that can do 450A continuous discharge. However, the battery manufacture only feels confident in setting it to 350A and mentioned the copper connectors can only handle so much current before burning out. Is there a way of knowing if the copper connectors will limit my output? I want to be able to output as much power as possible but I also dont want it to blow up. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
