Folks like to say that the cabin is just where you sleep and the rest of the ship is your house. But I could never get behind that mindset. That cabin is your only privacy and you're going to be in it at least 10 hours a day unless you don't sleep. Good for you for immediately recognizing that you needed a change of space.
@sabrinamerrick12718 күн бұрын
Agree. On regular sailings on mass market lines there are always ppl stating the room is just for sleeping. I totally disagree. These ppl sound like if they keep saying it long enough they will actually believe it. Just admit an inside is what you can comfortably afford.

I understand-I'm headed off on a world cruise in the New Year and going solo. I got a 200 sqft balcony cabin because I love sitting, watching the water pass by, and watching the night skies privately. Life is short-if you're able to, get the best accommodation you can! All the best and good luck.

I totally understand the importance of a balcony. I adore them. A private space with fresh air one step from the bed. Even on cold cruises I wrap up warm and sit outside for expended periods, watching the water and reading (with a coffee of course). It is more expensive, yes, but will pay you back in spades.
@jworth72039 күн бұрын
I agree that this will be so worthwhile for them. Living in this space full time, the extra expenditure is going to be life changing in my opinion.

I would have never considered anything less than a balcony cabin. It's a good move. So, what are the details? How do you go about making the change? Do you just pay the difference and move to a new cabin? How does it work?

@stevenkeller3047 yes we have to contact our sales person again and pay the difference and make the move.

I think having a balcony is important for long-term living on a ship. Obviously not everyone agrees or needs this, but I feel that way and would want that feature. If all you were doing is using your room just to sleep and not actually living in the room, then that would be different. It's too cramped for actual living for 2 people.
@barblibrarian9 күн бұрын
I don’t even think about short term cruising without a balcony. It’s almost like a second room that allows us to have separate space to hang out. Both of us need that. Even on days with poor weather we will get out on the balcony at least once.

Yep. I could have told you this but you wouldn't have listened to me. I always book a balcony cabin midship, not too high up. Stability when ship rocks, open the door to change the air in the cabin, go outside on it when waking up in the morning privately to watch the sun rise in my robe, no one can see me. Relax privately. Remember they want to have 650 passengers on this ship. Best of luck to you.

That balcony issue was something that I noticed right away on the Villa Vie because it's an old ship with very few balcony cabins compared to modern cruise ships. My wife and i always get a cabin with a balcony when we go on cruises and we find it to be essential -- a place to get fresh air, a place to be able to watch entering and leaving ports, and a way to get fresh air into the cabin. Glad you like the long-term cruising life aside from the (now solved) cabin problem.

Balcony sounds great! Even by myself when I travel with friends -I always get an individual balcony cabin. I need a quiet place just to just chill out. Hey guys. I love your blog! My partner and I purchased a cabin, 8011, but are having some difficulty figuring out what the floor plan actually looks like - how much is closet space, bathroom space, living space, etc. We're excited to join the Villa Vie community, but are not sure what we should bring for clothes. All casual, a mix of casual and cocktail, formal, or something else?
@dchiddengems4 күн бұрын
@katherinesutherland6179 congratulations! 🎉🍾 That’s awesome! While some of the photos on the website are sometimes off, we think yours look about right. You seem to have one of the oversized bathrooms with the tub. That’s really nice. Clothing is a personal choice, but keep in mind most people are extremely casual here. A few of the women put on a favorite dress or two for dinner at night. We have not had formal nights here, but one friend told us she went to the ballet at a port and wish she had one formal outfit to wear. Hope that helped. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Yes i thought, that for me having a balcony and more room would be an imperative. However, I understood it was your decision and you seemed happy with your choice. But I am glad for you that you have now changed your mind. Good move!

Best of luck on your continued voyage - now with more space and sea breezes! For me, not having a bathtub would be a deal breaker.

You two are lucky to have found each other, you are a great couple. . Loving your videos. I would want a balcony as well on that long term cruise. Can’t wait to see the new digs. I saw photos of the stretch section with a balcony. It was roomy and bright .

Hey, Suzanna! That’s really kind. We are very thankful every day to have found each other almost 22 years ago! Thanks for the wonderful support, and we agree on the balcony:). So appreciate you being along with us!

I can't wait to see your new "home." I so enjoy your channel and the way you present all of the information. I think you will enjoy your new space so much more. I agree your current cabin would be okay for one person, but a little tight for two people. I am also one who needs fresh air, so when I have cruised in the past I have paid up for a balcony, and it was so worth it!! I guess my question would be whether you purchased an additional cabin, or if you were able to just exchange and pay the difference. Keep up interesting and informative videos. Like I said before, you guys are my favorite to watch!!!

We appreciate you and your comments and are glad you’re following along! We are loving the new space and feel we made the right decision. We were able to trade up, which is part of the sales agreement. We essentially gave up our previous room and applied everything we paid to the cost of our new room and paid the difference. So glad you are here!

We sold our home and moved into one of those 1 bedroom apartments for temporary living until the new home was being built. We were there about a month before we were having a problem of such a small apartment. So I can completely understand.

It can be tough to live in a small space for that long, we totally get it! We are liking the larger space, but of course it’s still nothing like home. That said, we are really liking it so far. Stay tuned!

Wise to minimize your investment until you were positive about the lifestyle change. Also your assessment is fair presenting factual information for viewers and tailoring it to your individual needs.

I knew there was something different about the cabin in the last video that had to do with that window, bigger and brighter. Anyway, congratulations. I think that’s a good choice for the long term. Balconies give you so many options, even though I’m hearing from a lot of Villa V gas that they don’t use their balconies as much as they thought they would. it’s great to have that space and to be able to open a window for some fresh air.
@dchiddengems4 күн бұрын
@TheRemyRomano actually we haven’t shown it yet, but you will see it this week. We go out on the balcony about an hour a day. Usually right before or after lunch.
