Dang I would have never guessed that one seal here and there would make such a huge difference. Probably the 7J fuel tower is better and the older the machine the more obsolete parts exchange becomes. Parts book is still your best friend in these cases.

7/8ths drive, that got a laugh out of me! I have never heard of that.

I'm not sure where grandpa got it. It really is 7/8" drive for some strange reason. we even have some 7/8" drive sockets. I'm sure they were a "bargain" at some barn sale, LOL.

Thanks Tom. I'm glad I figured it out before we tried to start the engine. We would have never been able to keep oil in the fuel pump if I hadn't fixed it.

A lot of extra work for you but at least it gives your viewers some more drama but at least it’s nothing catastrophic so the cleaner is going to have to raise his standards and start using 2 gloves per day!!😀🇨🇦

One of the most handy tools I have in the farm shop is a OTC Tools 7402 Universal Outside Thread Chaser. That thing is awesome and has saved me a pantload numerous times. I have used the triangle file for years until a buddy told me about this tool.

Your parts book is correct the fuel tower on my fathers 1937 4G was changed as well as the oil filter from partial flow to full flow prior to 1956. This was known as a field change over and was optional but recommended
@lifeafterourloss
@lifeafterourloss 7 ай бұрын
That makes complete sense. From what I'm finding out, this machine did not get many (or any) of the field changeovers. It still had the screen oil filter and open Pony motor exhaust. 👍

@@lifeafterourloss I think from memory the change over was just the fuel filter housing bolted to the top of the fuel pump and the heater manifold from the regulator housing obviously for North American conditions. Diesel in the thirty's was considered a by product of the petroleum industry and all sorts of fuel oil, cooking and vegetable oil's were used to run these machines hence the words " BY CLEAN FUEL KEEP IT CLEAN".

These details are fascinating to me. It always amazed me that the same fuel caps with the "Buy clean Fuel Keep it clean" were still used into the early 1990s.

At 1:30 into this video, there is a reflection of someone coming from the backhoe? I hope that is a real person with you and not a ghost.

Ok, when I paused the video there I could see it. Creepy! 👻 It took me a minute but I think that's the Lana Del Rey poster in the background.
