Remedy has always been in my heart since starting from a disk of pirated Max Payne in the early 2000-s that my father brought back. These games have always been on par with the STALKER universe for me. Before the release of STALKER 2, I have to play Alan Wake 2 and end all DLC`s. this is last Remedy game in my list. And kudos to the same lover of games on disks, I also have almost the entire Remedy collection along with Stalker. Thanks for the video, bro!

Ah Remedy. As a Hungarian they have a special place in my heart. I have always wanted to visit Finland "one day" because of our shared ancient linguistic connection but Alan Wake 2 pushed me over the edge. I played Max Payne 2 back in the day but then forgot about Remedy. I picked up Control during Covid because I was done with Jedi: Fallen Order and wanted to paly something similar. I saw some gameplay trailers of Control back from 2019 where Jesse throws things around and I was like "aight, that is Jedi enough". When I was a teen (some 16 years ago) I was really into the paranormal and supernatural and all that but grew out of it by the time I reached 18. I knew NOTHING about Control's setting. So when it dawned on me that it's about this urban legend - paranormal stuff I felt EXACTLY like what Jesse describes in the opening cutscene: the poster on your wall falling off and seeing the real world for the first time. I felt like coming home after being away for a very long time. Really that is the closest analogy I could use, I felt like this is exactly what I've been waiting for, where my place is. And right after I finished all the DLCs they announced that Alan Wake 2 would be releasing in 2023? Synchronicity man. So yeah see you in Finland next summer!

My only complaint with AW2 is they don't let you cut loose with the combat nearly enough. It's amazing combat, but until the Rose Marigold Night Springs episode, I never really feel like I got to truly experience it running on all cylinders. The main game never does that for you. Even the big fight at the "concert" in the last part of the game has you running around trying to scrap for ammo constantly during it. They did themselves a disservice not including some more serious combat arenas in AW2 IMO because they undersold one of the best elements.

The stuff with Mr. Hatch and all the hidden references to Altered World Events, the multiverse and Alan Wake make it absolutely part of the Remedy Connected Universe even if they can't acknowledge it.. TIme Breaker really really made that clear too. Anyway, just saying I love Quantum Break, and it's up there with all the others for me.

I absolutely agree the best way to play Alan Wake II is to play the entire Remedy catalogue (You forgot Death Rally! It's at the bottom of the iceberg but still important - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) first. I would have been frustratingly left in the dark on huge portions of the story and game world if I hadn't played all the other games first. I have to say as a money making tactic it's pretty bad - someone who's never picked up a Remedy game before will likely be confused and frustrated at a lot of things - but for those that went through the whole journey to get there, the game is nothing but constant pay offs in the best way.

I'm so bummed they accidentally associated with SBI right before that whole thing blew up. I've defended AW2 in so many channels because unlike other games that studio got involved with, it's not infected by any of their tropes and other injected stuff. It really, combined with EGS, hurt them really badly and it's a crying shame. For those of you who heard the slander: No, Saga is not a swap. Yes, her ethnicity makes complete sense. No, she doesn't say racist things (the two lines people harp on are from a dark place corrupted version trying to drive her mad). No, she does not tear anyone around her and is a respectful character with good motivations. And no, she didn't hijack Alan's role in the game, due to the narrative being split between both worlds.
@molotovribbentrop28392 ай бұрын
Involvement of the SBI clearly affected the game multiple ways, this supposed American small town now has the minority ethnicity proportions of the Los Angeles, and this is something that didn't exist in the first Alan Wake. Secondly, when Saga was presented in that clip of Quantum Break, she was portrayed by Finnish actor, just like Alan is. And lastly, i think Saga being shoehorned so strongly to the game that in the end, you are going to be more familiar with her than with the titular protagonist is one of the mistakes that cost Remedy some returning players.

Disappointing that they chose to work with Sweet Baby, but it’s a testament to the studio’s passion and quality that I pushed thru the annoying Sweet Baby moments because I was loving the game so much.

Look at what's happening with Ubisoft right now. Developers and studios shouldn't dismiss all criticism because it's supposedly based on hate and prejudice. Developers shouldn't antagonize their customers (gamers). Remedy's community manager (Vida) seems to be a close friend of Alyssa Mercante, someone who is known for antagonizing gamers and, in my opinion, one of the most dishonest journalists I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I've seen Vida express similar opinions to Alyssa's, I recently saw an old interview with her where she said she wanted to work at Remedy because they were making a game with a strong female protagonist, she's an extreme identitarian. Yes, I think that consulting firms like SBI are a problem and that sensitive reading is just a fancy name for artistic censorship. The only reservations I have regarding SBI's influence in Alan Wake 2 are when Saga calls Alan a white asshole out of nowhere, there is no need to bring race into the game considerinng the polarized context in which we find ourselves, the other is the game's need to reaffirm every 30 seconds that Saga is a badass professional and an incredible mother, this is extremely tiring.. I don't care about the raceswap, it makes sense with who her father probably is. I love the Remedyverse and all its IPs, but I don't want to give money to those who hate and despise me, especially living in a third world country where these games are extremely expensive.
@cantgameright2 ай бұрын
I hadn't heard of Sweet Baby inc or Alyssa Mercante until I received some disgruntled comments a while back that I spoke about liking Alan Wake II. I was completely blind to the campaign against SBI and all that jazz and I have to say that a lot of people are getting too carried away and also creating a Barbara Streisand effect around the relevance of SBI and hard left games journalists. I had no prejudice when Saga was being turned into a whiny racist with a victim mentality by the dark presence. It makes sense. Saga is fighting her insecurities and the game is explicitly saying, "being a whiny racist with a victim mentality gets you nowhere." I truly think that the hate against AW2 is grossly misdirected at the wrong people for the wrong reasons. It's FAR from being anything close to Ubisoft's "diversity" thing. With that said, I live in a third world country too, and I'm praising Remedy also for LOWERING the price of AW2 to 50$ while the entire industry is going up to 70$. Yet that's hardly ever talked about, even by myself. Lastly, I can understand not buying games that benefit people who hate you. I just think that there's a lot of intellectual dishonesty going on with that since Space Marine II was made in russia, where 20% of revenue goes to their government which applies 30 freaking percent of their spending in military. Watch Rossiya-1 for a day and see what real, seething hate looks like, I don't even have to mention their war. Boycott Alan Wake 2 because it received a consulting service from a company of about a dozen people but praise a much smaller game that funds the worst war (all because a country wanted to be more European and not russian) we've seen since WW2? No one cares about that? So yeah I just don't think that the "people who hate me" case is intellectually honest, though it could be ignorance of that country's government's deeply hateful rhetoric towards us.

I've played all Remedy games, and Control was my least favorite. The gameplay is fun and challenging, but the main story is basic. The lore, however, felt like they overdid the mystery aspect. It’s clear they were aiming for a 'the more you know, the less you understand' vibe, but it came off wrong. In a well-executed 'Dunning-Kruger' effect, players should initially feel like they know everything, only to later realize they don’t. But by diving deeper and reading materials, they should gradually piece together what's really happening. In Control, we start knowing nothing, and by the end, we're still left in the dark. It felt unrewarding.

@@watchdogj I already said this before: it’s out of nowhere. And yes, it IS her actual thoughts. The Dark Place isn’t putting fake thoughts in her head, it’s bringing her REAL fears out and dialing them up to 11. When the dark presence is corrupting her, it brings out her fears, her fear of being a bad partner, failing Casey (her white best friend who is basically like a brother to her and an uncle to her daughter), her fear of being a bad cop. All things that were built up across the game. Then all of a sudden “I’ve fallen victim to another white guy….” It’s completely out of nowhere and doesn’t fit with her character or anything in the game.
