I lived in oxford back in 1978 and found it to be a most interesting place to live in. The Ashmolian museum has some of the finest Egyptian artifacts outside Egypt. There was a pub called the Plasteres Arms near the football ground which I frequented.

My ex's family were from Morocco and the father regretted going to Israel, where they were poor and living in the Moroccan Jerusalem slum. It was far worse than being poor. The family's kids all went into foster projects. They grew up literally starving, improperly clothed in winter, abused, full of lice and scabies. The housing was social projects subsidized by the state. Conversely, the father said his brothers who were still in Morocco, were very well off and he often expressed that he had made a mistake in coming to Israel.
