You two (4, including AJ and the Cat) are our new "go - to" on KZbin. I've had the worst year imaginable after losing both parents within 3 weeks of each other and just watching you both "living the dream" has helped me along. I'm 55 and my wife is 51 and we have a campervan and "bugger off" as often as possible so your channel is of massive interest to us. We live just outside Carlisle so often head up into Scotland rather than "darn Sarf" (I'm allowed to say that as I am a Londoner). I think, like most others, we love your honestly regarding vanlife. You don't try and make it sound better than it is, but tell it how it is which is exactly what people want to hear. If ever you are in north Cumbria and want a hock up for the night, give me a shout but in the meantime, thank you very much. Mark x

Sorry for your loss, I thought I'd reply to your comment as I noticed you mentioned North of Scotland. If you haven't already, visit luskentyre beach when the tide is out and on a nice day.. it does something to the soul. So beautiful. Wishing you and your wife, happy and safe travels.

I love VAN WIVES but after coming across your channel only yesterday, and being a Londoner myself, you two are so much more relatable and I love hearing British humour which makes you even more relatable. You are both so funny and thank you for helping me move one step closer to getting a van. This vid is great showing the bad and ugly side of van life. Keep being authentic and real! Love it !

Loved the ramble! Being honest about the continued adaptations required to do this lifestyle is spot on. And much appreciated. You only learn by doing! There are a 1000 things you don’t realize when you start out (on any project or life change) that can only be sorted as you go. You never know what you’re getting yourself into until you get yourself into it. As a long distance backpacker, I meet newbies out on trail who’ve chucked the lot and are starting a 1200+ mile hike, only to discover on day 4 of a 7 month hike that oh….this is the hardest thing I’ve ever physically or mentally done and it’s not for me. Anything worth doing takes a lot of starting and stopping and regrouping before you can keep it in the air.

Girls - Ladies. What sets you apart from many other good vlog (new word for me) producers about van life and other stuff is the content of this one. True, honest, real caring for your viewers, animals, each other and the countries you are visiting. Did you realize you often checked with each other with glances to make sure you were at one and getting your genuine message across as you both wanted. This is another OUTSTANDING award winning effort (IMHO). Actually I think what attracted me to your channel was learning a new language (the no T one), no seriously, was your honesty, you have often (to my eyes and ears) said similar things about the realities and close living for 2 plus 2. What ever you do will be fine by me, do the right things for animals and you guys. Can't wait to see the van decorations next week. For one moment I thought the van was going for a swim.

The aim of the current Great Cove Reset ID is to suck the fun out of life and remove us humans from the planet. This is of course reflected in everyday life: for some it wil be a great awakening, for most others it's a real end time. Focus on the journey of life, not on the physical problems: relax, and listen to your intuition very very carefully.

True. If your van breaks down, where are you going to live whilst a garage can't even collect it, or e.g. can't fix it for e.g. 4+ weeks because they are too busy, and then it takes a week to fix it. Common sense says don't give up your house / flat / apartment if you can afford to keep it. Always have a safe base for your own security, safety and well-being. Thanks. Love from Scotland, X.

Don’t tell me anything to spoil the illusion of a transformational life on the road…” and I toyed with skipping this one. However, I watched it and I’m so glad I did because it is a thoroughly authentic account of the realities of the lifestyle and a sense-check for my dreamy, romanticised hopes for 2022 and beyond. I have learned life on the road is not a panacea and instead, there will still be crap, albeit different crap! How refreshing to have your portrayal of the reality of van life. Just saw another video of a sweet couple who showed how putting bubble wrap on the windows literally stops condensation, & helps to insulate the inside of the van. They let a small amount of steam coat the inside of the windows as the surface moisture is necessary for the bubble wrap to adhere to. All streaming rivulets & condensation pooling was stopped! Helps to keep the damp out of the van too. Glad I just found your YT channel & am now a subscriber. Happy New Year! Cheers Pam

You guys rock! New Sub here. I've had a van for nearly 20 years with my partner and young family. We are constantly using it and have done a fair few 6+ week trips in it all over Europe and the UK. You guys have hit the nail on the head with this video; Learn from your travels and adapt! After waking up with 5mm ice on the inside of the van windows I learnt that I needed a spare emergency battery for the heater. I also learnt that having a second heater in case the primary one failed is a very good idea for reducing stress. Nowadays when you can get a chinese diesel heater for £100 you might as well.... Anyway, have a lovely Xmas and best of luck with insulating the van! Ringo

I love your honesty. You are quite right, in social media land everything is happy, happy, happy. Unless they have a complete meltdown!! Nothing in between Things change, it is life and we need to adapt to the environment. Please don't say this is a negative video, it is not. It is the hard facts of vanlife and only right that you are honest with all aspects.

The video that most van life vloggers shy away from making. Well done to both of you for putting it out there. Taking a month or two out and winterising the van definitely sounds like the smart move to me. Less to worry about once it's done AND it'll open up the wonderful world of snow ❄️ ⛄ 🏔️ 🥶

A very timely video and lots of important points made. From doing my own van build, reality v youtube is totally different. So many content creators now with all the fancy drone shots and glamour but leaving out the reality. Van life can be tough and very few are showing this side of it, so hats off to you for keeping it real, would love to see more of this.

That was a great video, for so many reasons, presenting a balanced view, appropriate warnings, and options. I think a return to the UK to sort stuff is a great idea, otherwise, you'll continue with the niggly bits, lol. Get them sorted and enjoy Scotland girls. Plus the videos showing adaptions maybe will help many prep vans for cold snowy conditions. Whatever happens, stay safe all. cheers Paull

If your seriously thinking cold weather and snow think about picking up a set of cable tire snow traction instead of snow chains. 1 they cost less. 2 you can drive up 35kmh on em. 3 easy to put on. Your going to have frozen water problem so drain your water tank and lines and get 2 or 3 5liter water cooler jugs. If the freeze on ya easy to thaw em out and you won't have damages. Your van at some point will drop into the minuses. Ps keep your batteries from freezing too your van battery can handle the cold (it's new) but your lithium/deep cycle batteries won't like the cold so figure out a way to keep em from being too cold or freezing Happy travels

Great video showing both sides of vanlife. I’ve watched a few van life KZbin videos. Yours being the best which involves videography, personalities and honesty. But that’s enough of blowing smoke 😀. You’ve highlighted a good point that even with your experiences of travel, you have to adapt for your personal requirements and be willing to change your equipment or area you are touring. Keep the videos coming 👍

Very insightful! In 2019 my wife and I took a gap year and spent 9 months living pretty much full-time in our caravan, travelling around the UK then spending 5 consecutive months in France. It was AMAZING... but... The pair of you are quite right, it isn't all rainbows and unicorns. We had our fair share of problems to deal with just like you. The conclusion we came to was that travelling full-time isn't right for us. So at the moment we're working and saving with a view to going on more adventures, probably from 2023 onwards. But whilst we will travel and have adventures we will maintain a base, probably in the UK (we're both British). The rough plan is adventures, return to base perhaps earn a bit more money, return to adventures and repeat. An excellent video, keep doing what you're doing!

Thank you for this look at the other side of ___ life. For me I’ll be boat life and I’ve been trying watching YT travel content makers that show the good and the not-so-good sides of The Life because I want to go it with my eyes wide open. The romance of it all has captivated me for almost a year but as you both said van life is still real life. It’s also really helpful with my research. Safe travels ✌🏽

Appreciate the honesty and absolutely nothing wrong with changing plans to suit yourselves. There are so many channels that only show a filtered reality. I see so many people on social media who see van life as an escape from all the stress of ‘normal’ life. But you really are trading one stress for another in reality. The longest we’ve travelled on our van , until next year 🤞 , was 5 weeks and that was definitely a case of many lessons learned. You have to have things exactly as you need it when you’re living full time in it. But you’ll now maybe get to see your family for Christmas so that will be lovely for you all. Wishing you the very very best whatever you decide

Great videos Ladies! We've done a LOT of travelling in our Motorhome throughout the European continent and for sure there are days (sometimes a week or even two!) when we just got completely fed up. Invariably it's crap weather that starts the frustration. The key for us is always to remember that the feeling will pass and the journey IS the destination. Try to hook up with other road-warriors for a decompress...it really helps. Remind yourselves of your fortunate position and stay STRONG together. The next destination might just be the best...xx

Hi, super honest video. Just what's needed. We've got 2 elderly dogs and our van is a bit of a mobility van. We have a storage box on the back for a dog stroller and the dog ramp the girls need to get in and out of the van. We've just got back from two weeks in Scotland - stayed in Aviemore for some of the time and it was like a winter wonderland - so Christmassy. You'd love it. Can't wait to hear what you decide to do.

I finished converting my van in June thanks, in no small part, to your useful videos. I have just got back to UK after my post Boris limited time in Schengen. I'm not a big social media user but having subscribed to your how-to videos I get the notifications for your travel videos. I'm sorry to say (even though they look really good) I don't usually watch them all the way through. However, the honesty and obvious desire you show to be helpful, kept me watching this one. Thanks and please keep going. I will look out for tips on winter proofing since I have a few problems too. Van life is a great experience but, as you say, does throw up some immediate problems. Mine would include getting smug about my battery charging and stopping checking levels and then ruining them when the sun stopped shining at the same time as my b2b stopped working; finding launderettes in Germany; and generally travelling solo during COVID.

Guys, you are amazing, your videos are amazing, and your attitude is amazing. And, for what it's worth, you are NOT responsible for other people's life choices - even if you were an inspiration to them. I was inspired by you (and others), and I bought a van based largely on that. And I've discovered that it's harder (and more expensive) than I expected. But that's entirely down to me. And I don't regret any of it. I'm still grateful for your inspirational content - which is also informative and educational - and any aspects of vanlife that are less than fun are my own responsibility, not yours. Winter is cold and water freezes, regardless of if it's in a van or a house. So thank you for continuing to be the best vanlife channel on the internet, and for remaining a huge inspiration to me as I experience my first year of doing it too, my way, which is in no way down to anyone else other than myself (and my husband, whose fault it all is anyway!) LOL Keep it up. 👍👍👍

And I love the rants I'm seeing in other vlogs - I rant about the same things!
