I LOVE MY 9-5! I tried to be entrepreneur and was semi-successful but my heart wasn’t in it and I missed my corporate perks, excellent benefits, steady pay, and incredible work/life balance. Entrepreneurship taught me ways to make money so I freelance if I want on the side sometimes but nah, I’m a supporter of small businesses. Definitely not my ministry to run my own as my sole income source. Hats off to the folx who do. I wish you all success!

I agree about the submission topic. Submission is a beautiful thing and I think women are mistaking submission as being a “doormat” and there’s a difference between the two. One is integrous and virtuous and the other is a lack of boundaries and self awareness.

I agree to a degree. I think that’s an immature man. My husband shared the load equally. I actually like being handy and enjoy home repairs. He’s not that interested in it but enjoys grocery shopping (I hate it). Some men are immature and some women are immature. Some women need to ask if they are allowing the men to step up or if they criticize the man for not doing it right. Unfortunately there are dead weights and there are some controlling people

I have been married for 21 years. As the Word says, "wives submit to your husbands". It is a GIFT that we give to them. It is in our control to submit. There is no weakness in it. We freely and graciously give it. There is beauty in the word when done well. (And, ladies it makes the sex better-that's for another day.) But, yes, the husband should INSPIRE submission and not REQUIRE it.

With regards to men and women are equal, I agree with your viewpoint and what you explained but I see it slightly differently. I think that men are women are equal in terms of value, in terms of how we should be respected and in terms of our worth. BUT EQUALITY DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE THE SAME!!! Men and women are not the same!!! Our worth is equal, our value is equal but what we bring and how we should behave does not need to be the same. Our femininity is equal in value to masculinity. That’s what I mean when I say men and women are equal. I hope that makes sense
@MarrissaBreann

I hear you, sis. What you said does make sense. I still wouldn’t want to be treated exactly how a man is treated. Women are weaker in nature, softer. I wouldn’t want to be treated exactly the way a man is treated. I also believe worth and value depends on several things. We all view value and worth differently. Essentially, I think we may be saying the same things.

Excellent explanation of equality, cause I think that word is very triggering and most people abuse it. I don't think there is any situation where 2 human beings, no matter the relationship. 2 friends, mother/daughter, child/ mother, etc are ever equal in any given moment. The life experiences we bring to our relationships will never be equal even if we live in the same household. We will never be at the exact same page. If we respect each other's differences equally we might get somewhere.

This was so interesting watching as a Muslim woman. Can we talk about how people make it seem like marriage and children are the only functions of sexuality in a religious couple's life? Cause it is not, God gave us the ability to feel sexual pleasure as something to enjoy, from religious perspective within a marriage. Children and marriage is encouraged but its not an obligation. I do agree men and women are not equal in CERTAIN ways because we are uniquely created. As for submission that should only be to God(ALLAH), not husband, not parents. We can love an repsect our parents, husband, kids etc but not submit our will to them as they are human. LOVED your takes!

I'm 62 and agree with all your points. I learned what being "a man's peace" meant up close and personal as a teenager. I had an SIL who was never happy about attention, money, home; name it she wasn't happy so she made my brother's life as well as her children's hell. As you said man or woman needs to bring their own hard earned peace to their relationship. I vowed I would never act that way, but to the best of my ability be part of the solution in our imperfect humanness not the problem. I submit to the life I chose, the man I love, the children I brought into this world. I think it just means to commit to do your very best for you and yours in the marriage and life you chose. Always wondering if the "grass is greener" on the other side leads to misery. Cause it's about "you" not other people in your life. Of course this is if the man is also committed to his marriage and family. 💜

There is so much I could say but rather than comment on each point I will just say I so agree with all you said. Especially the submissive point. So many men like to quote the bible but they are not submissive to Christ. A man that is submissive to Christ will not even try to make a woman his footstool. And a woman would have no problem being lead by a godly man ( lead as in head of household). Also I am buying my home I say all the time there is something to be said for living in an apartment. Houses are a lot of work and not for everyone.

So interesting sis you mentioned Ephesians 5:22 as our pastor spoke about this at church today and how he explained what it means is exactly as you said, our roles as wives is to support and respect not to be submitting to a man who is not of the Lord.. I feel for generations the misunderstanding of this verse has crippled both men and women and ultimately love and respect in marriages.. men believed they are above women and women believed they are a man’s property. It’s refreshing that our generation is digging deep into what the word says and it’s TRUTH ❤️❤️❤️

Good to see you marissa. Looking beautiful as always. It is really tough overcoming the mentally set mind of #10 mostly because we've been so single for as long as we have, we have a hard time stooping low for anyone as single women. It's a tough grip to get over because for some of us who've been serially single for as long as we have had a hard time earning the respect from those who've skated by on happy/lucky for being plucked as the ones for relationships. So we begrudgingly set ourselves out to work on it --in spite of being set out aside aloofly because we are the tough-set single persons we are. All feelings and differing opinions aside, I really do agree that the teachers vocational educators, construction developers and working people of the like are helping to build the age for the socially clueless with experience and expertised clout to come. I am with you on that.

I think I interpret “women to be equal to men” as having the same rights. Obviously physically we are different, but not everyone wants to be feminine and be taken care of. Some may want the opposite and they should be able to. I’m of the belief everyone deserves to be happy and live the life they choose. Men and women should have the same right to do so however that looks.

I’m curious what your thoughts on purity culture is and the messages that teach young women that there bodies are stumbling blocks and value is in their virginity and young boys that they essentially are animalistic and predatorial that can’t help their sexual desire. This leads to a lot of victim blaming of women- eg. “What was she wearing?” “She asked for it with that outfit” It’s so damaging to teach this. And many Christian men and women raised this way have a lot of challenges with their sexuality. I was raised that I needed to stay pure until marriage and then suddenly be a tigress in the bedroom for my husband once married. Such a mess Love to hear how you view sexual purity in a non toxic way. I’m sure your well rounded with this.

Marissa Breann, I got my pen and paper out the minute the video started. First let me say, I agree with everything you brought to the “table” Sis! The ones that stood out for me are: #1,2 and 8. #1 - I love when you said, a man should already have a form of peace before he even begins a relationship. We don’t come perfect but we should come close to being whole as possible. A man or a woman should never be responsible for each other’s everything. #2 - Submission IS a beautiful thing. I totally agree. When a husband submits to God a wife will not have an issue with submitting to her husband. Submission is peace as well. #8 - Femininity is BEING not looking a certain way. I thought of who I am Becoming as a woman. As we age, we will lose our looks so will I no longer be feminine? I think NOT I will be, if not, more feminine because I will be wise and at peace. Apologies for the long post but I wanted to share my 2 cents. I really enjoyed this video. 🙌🏽 up for another video like this one. Thank you Sis!!

But if you’re capable of growing into the largeness of marriage, do it.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:11-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬ bible.com/bible/97/mat.19.11-12.MSG So on point! Marriage is not for everyone. Very insightful discussion. Thanks sis 🙏🏾

Great Video Marrissa!! AMEN! POV: I am a licensed therapist, life coach, Christ Follower and lover of dance, so a couple of things... I understand how nightclubs and dance lounges have gotten a bad reputation...sort of (that really depends on culture), but there is more than one lens. When I go out to Dance it's because I want to have a good time with my girlfriends and yes one day I would love to have that fun with a husband but I'm not sad or lonely just because I'm going to dance and have a good time. Nor am I am looking for a man...they are usually an obstacle to avoid LOL! I literally love the feeling of being in a room full of people dancing, it feeds my soul. I actually just recorded a GRWM talking about this very thing. There is a psychology behind movement in community with others. That being said...I am so glad you said what you said, and someone needed to hear that because I look around at some people in the club and you are SPOT ON with the lonely/sad/mad description... to wellness, Desi

Hello Desi, thank you for sharing. That’s why I said MOST people. We can’t just group everyone in one category and think that about everyone. I’m sure there are some people who enjoy dancing and hanging out with their friends in this setting. I’m not referring to you guys ❤️

This is good (& I am still watching) I think the world has taken some things and ran with them and now it’s messy. I’m getting married soon and I am excited to be my man’s peace and create that space for him to just be and also submit to his leadership and support his vision! We need to get back to the Word!

@@MarrissaBreann Thank you so so much! You hit so many points I’ve discussed with some friends. & creating that peaceful environment is definitely the goal. When I hear BE his peace it is more of a heart posture and character trait. I don’t want to be anything other than peaceful for him. I hope that makes sense!

Hi Marissa! New subbie here & I am loving your videos so far. This one is ON POINT!! I love when you said, people just hear someone else saying something & they repeat it, not really thinking about what they’re saying. I think this all the time and really try to watch what trends I may fall into from hearing them since childhood or whatnot. You hit so many important points here & it was such a fresh breath of air! I also really liked what you said about telling someone they have their whole life ahead of them. That was an excellent perspective and a new one for me, so I learned a few new things here also. 🙏💟

Great points, jus one precision: men and women are equal in value. Men do things that women can't and womwn do things men can't do. But both men and women can do things as well as the other gender.

The comment about men and women being equal, concerns the workplace and the jobs that are sign that are equal duties but because of old fashion ideas women are paid less for the same job. And it has gone from the workplace to out in the private sector which has been manipulated by people who wanted it for their own agendas.

I completely agree Rhonda 1000%. That's how I view the topic of equality. For me it's an idea heavily weighted in the workplace...Women with the same job title and doing the same amount of work or more yet being paid less.

I agree Rhonda. If I have the same or higher skillset in coding (for example) and myself and a man produce the same quality of work, we should be paid our worth (the same). Equality in that sense but I think you’re saying society or people have use their own agenda that has pushed equality into other aspects that we don’t agree with, like being as physically as strong(for example).
