SBI and similar game consultant companies are using mafia-style tactics to extort millions of dollars from game devs. This isn't about the actual changes these companies end up making, its the fact that there are agencies that are roaming around and extorting things. Its not that they changed the main character from a white male to a black female, its that a completely external company can walk up to a game dev and say "Make these changes or we will publicly declare you as an enemy, also pay us 30k-300k" that is the problem. Also this isn't a tinfoil hat, this is from the CEO of SBI's presentation on how to enforce their views on game devs. She had slides on how to properly leverage and threaten social media and other channels to destroy a game dev studio's reputation if they refuse to work with people.

Look, regardless of the argument, whether a character's skin color makes a game good or bad (if the mechanics and story are good, it shouldn't matter). SBI has made numerous racist remarks about white people. That's the issue with them being involved in any game development decisions. Imagine if the situation was reversed, and a company like SBI made those kinds of statements about black people? It would be scorched earth for said company. They would immediately no longer exist. DEI in any form, for any company, is inherently bad... and it's been proven time and again. If the devs for this game wanted to be truly "inclusive" they would have just made a character creator so everyone could make a character that looked like themselves.

Never played a souls game not normally a genre I play... closet is i love the Arkham series. But this, although frustrating at times, is very fun. I am early on and the combat is ok (the enemies use unparriable attacks 80% of the time) but its a challenge and Im liking it so far. Interested to see the differences when I level up skill tree. The parry system seems to be very nullifed due to how often enemies use moves you cannot parry though.

Then he has a ton of passive things he can unlock to help you in combat with, like stunning enemies, knocking down armored targets, spreading curse to multiple enemies, and even Amp your damage if you trigger his attacks at the same time as you are landing yours.

Enki can slot different witherings as well (basically ultimates) and weapons all have perks or effects that trigger based on some type of synergy based on your gameplay style and gear. Weapons themselves don't have "special abilities" just augmenting effects and different attack patterns.

It's very parry dependant for the best success. You're rewarded for being aggressive but also perfectly countering enemy attacks. I can't say it is exactly any of those three. It's some mixed hybrid of it all.

Finally, an objective review of the game. I'm all against wokeness to a certain point, but I really wanted to see how good or bad the game is objectively in order to know how much of an impact the SBI Detected/DEI Detected community has on its low sales ver the actual quality. Seems bigger than I expected.

Get it on game pass if you can, is free. I have been playing for a few hours and so far is very boring but I am hoping it will get better as I get new abilities. In terms of world building it feels off, characters feel like they dont belong there, not sure what I am looking at, I imagine an alternate world of some sort but so far it doesnt make sense, time will tell, maybe the story will fix it up eventually

Animation-wise it kind of looks like it's a bit more on a budget. It's giving me "double-A dev trying their best to be look triplle a"-vibes and sometimes these games kind of miss. But I'm super curious anyway and will give this a spin. The game is on gamepass (starting tomorrow). I feel if you're on PS5 and you haven't playd God of War yet, you probably want to play that first. And if you don't have gamepass and intend to buy this at some point... I have a strong feeling, this will be 10-20 bucks on the used marked very quicklyy.

The open racism that characterizes 30% of the comments on this video is just sad. When I was a kid, we hoped that by the time I was this age (in my 50s) enlightened countries would be beyond all that. There was hope for the future. But the unending barrage of blind, negative comments these days when a new videogame's MC is female or person of color is an embarrassment to the human race in 2024. Plus, if you don't think some of the comments here go beyond criticism of SBI's methods to exhibit open racism ... well, you're just not reading very carefully. My younger son doesn't so much get into games where the MC is female, because he wants to identify more personally with his MC, loves create-a-character games etc. I understand that scenario. But my son doesn't go around in comments-threads trashing games with female or PoC MCs. He plays some, doesn't play others, goes on with his gaming life.
