Snyder was the one that came to Netflix to split it up as a PG-13 movie. He chose to do this to himself. Because he wanted to relive the whole Snydercut thing.

Even when Snyder was given a budget to reshoot new stuff for his film, and could actually address some of thr plot holes and criticism he got for his film, he spends it adding about 30 minutes of slow-mo music video introduction of the characters, and screwing up the aspect ratio to be a moron, even though he was given a golden opportunity to do better. It was like when a teacher hands you back an assignment to redo with all you're mistakes highlighted, and he doesn't do anything to address his issues. Now he's doing everything all over again.

I liked Army of the Dead. I liked 300. I liked Sucker Punch. The Watchmen glossed over a lot of the important themes and subtext, but generally was alright. All of those films are good because Snyder can concentrate on filming scenes and not worry about the writing. Few directors are good at both directing AND writing. Snyder just isn't one of them (at least, not yet). For someone not as good as writing to write an epic is like trying to get someone like me who struggles to cook for 3 meals a day to cook a Michelin star gourmet meal. He completely missed the mark on creating an epic and what makes epics so good. For most epic movies, at their heart is a very simple story. Star Wars is, in essence, a simple story about a reluctant farmboy who tries to save a princess but the plan goes sideways. LOTR is about a well-meaning nobody who wants to destroy a ring, knowing how it destroyed his uncle. Rebel Moon tried to jam so many things into the film that it forgot to tell a single concise story.

Yeah I think 166 for 1 and 2 together. I don’t know if it was a good move ? No. But yeah , I see the train of thought. We’ll see. I have loved all his movies so far EXCEPT this one and the 2 zombie flicks ( just because I find the genre boring) . The streaming business is so confusing to me.
