To all the people complaining about Patel as Gawain: By the 12th century we have court records of Saracen warriors settled in southwest England, and certainly in the 8th century there is numismatic evidence of contact between England and Moorish Spain. The filmmakers have made a reasonable extrapolation . And I hear you say " Boohoo but Arthurs fictional stories take place between the 4th and 6th century . " Well , there is also a half - black Arthurian Knight in the most important Medieval Germanic Arthurian Myth . His name is Feirefiz and he is the half - brother of Sir Parcival. Also Patel is a British man and citizen , portraying a medieval knight with a skin complexion only slightly darker than the average Caucasian - a weathered look a knight could acquire from long journeys. And in case you forgot: it's based on a fictional 14th century fantasy romance poem full of dragons, witches and green men. And male bisexuality . I'd say quit whining.
@user-zb3ih3vh4n3 жыл бұрын
@ibigrooster11 this is not an excuse it's based on real facts it's a 14th centuries fictional poem which you are calling it fake. Neither the green knight is fully white knight and nor the round table is full of white knight there are some African race knight too in the round table which I can see you have no idea about. On the comments section of trailer I seen a lot of people whining about the Actor because of its race and calling it a race swapping which is not happen in this case But this the way some narrow minded people will react if they see a non white character playing a main roles without knowing anything about the character now this is the most annoying hypocritical thing. "But you can only cry about it"
@user-zb3ih3vh4n3 жыл бұрын
@Opener73 well if Wakanda is from Italy Or europe and not from Africa then i am really ok with a white or a Brown guy playing but it's not wakanda is in Africa in fictional universe in black Panther comics it is clearly mention that all the people's living in wakanda are black but in king Arthur's round table not all the knights are black some knights are black too who are born in Africa but clearly your low level of ignorant racist mind didn't get it all Keep crying about it because that's the only thing you can do.

@@queeniegreengrass3513 i mean the original story does explore the idea/impossibility of a reciprocal sexual (and specifically sexual) act between men. however it should be noted that in many stories of the period men kissed as greeting/goodbyes/etc which is not explicitly demonized or anything. though like... im ngl i think that it could be possible to get a reading out the text that doesnt explicitly say "same sex intimacy is wrong" but something a lot more nuanced than that. anyways bisexuals stay winning

When studying for my Bachelor's of Creative Writing Degree. I flunked by the first attempt of old to middle ENG Lit. When I took the class again, my second professor was more accommodating and I loved Gawain and the Green Knight. It was the character that was defined by his human desire to live. As in that was his main weakness in attempting to live up as a Knight. Upon rereading the story during Covid, I can tell why many professors think Gawain is a weaker knight because of his demand of assistance from God, his eagerness to live makes him seemingly weaker, and the story ending with Gawain having a monologue about distrusting women. I am in the minority amongst my literary friends. I used to think that Courage and Stupidity are different concepts since self-preservation is something I never blame a living being. So to willingly offer one's life in the place of another, it's something that sticks out for me. For Middle English literature, not the modern interpretation for self-sacrifice. For the movie, I appreciated the Uncut Gems film. While I watched other A24 films where they're more so about the dark and grimdark endings. It was a sign of quality and I watched the trailer for Green Knight like a dozen times. I LOVE how imposing the Green Knight is in the film. Where he towers over Gawain and has bark skin. I loved Gawain and the Green Knight so much. I wrote 3 essays about the story and I based a Dungeons and Dragons character on Gawain. I remember there was a story by a different writer about a different knight who was falsely accused by Guinevere. Where in that story, the only knight that advocated for due process was Gawain. (I need to find my college texts and I will edit this post). I love the story. I am excited and if the movie is bad. I don't care. From the presentation of the story, I will at least get to enjoy the visual and appreciate the actor playing Gawain.
