It's a simple fact, you can't let critics' opinions affect your view on the movie. It's a monster movie. It's not supposed to be perfection, it's supposed to be a thrill ride, and that's exactly what this was🔥

I don't listen to critics. They mostly are so stuck up in their reviews. It's like they don't even know what movies they're supposedly watching. If there's gay themes, controversial subject matter, risqué or graphic sex, violence and language, that's what they tend to praise, and many of those movies are BORING.

It sucks that critics view of a good movie is christopher nolan levels of masterpiece rather than the qualities on what makes it good and enjoyable They used to do that with older movies from 2010 to 2019 ish and then came the age where movies become boring and the new norm is a masterpiece level movie in order for it to be considered a good movie, heck even the despicable me franchise is somewhat considered to be good and its not even a masterpiece

That's what shocked me, the director proves he understands the idea of "show, don't tell" with the Kong scenes but then spends half of the movie's runtime turning the human characters into annoying exposition machines. It feels like he's telling the audience he knows how to make a good movie and still chose to make dogshit on purpose.

Saw it today. It was good. My only criticisms are it was a bit rushed and they could have utilized this movie to introduce titan language. Which could have fleshed out more exposition in what happened in hollow earths past. The storys exposition should have been done by none othen then godzilla recollecting what happened Like when the ewe tribe talks about it being the same time godzilla and mothra explaining to kong what happened in the past. So as amanda talks about it, godzillas memories are shown. That would have been epic

I did a quick binge of the four movies leading up to this one (previously only saw Kong Skull Island and Godzilla (2014) in theaters). Going in I could see each movie built up on the previous installment the tech, the human characters, the scale, and expectations. Watched the new one in IMAX and was more pleased with the non verbal communication of the monsters. They definitely focused time on showing the monsters with more thought and reactions in the scenes than the previous ones. As for moving the plot along, the story did a lot of shortcuts to make the scenes connect, with use of movie logic. But that ended up working out so that it was not dragging too long with exposition. And even with the shortcuts they still allowed the human characters time to have some personality. And if you are a fan of the retro 80's aesthetic this movie had it in spades. From the music to the vehicles to the visuals of terrain. The ending does make a good stopping point of the franchise, but allows it to continue if they want.

As a fan of kaiju mayhem, this film actually added another dimension to it which is the monster's emotion. You know, sadness, anger, tired, happy and they can even laugh! This added character development to these monsters who were seemingly just slugging it out on older Godzilla films. And that I think brings out a new angle and enough reason for them to go to war and not just mindlessly duke it. For me, this makes the battle royale even more tasteful and intense! @@synical13 You got any room for simple understanding of what others are trying to say? Nobody suggested they should stop making fun Godzilla movies. The fact is that this is NOT a Godzilla film. Title it as a Kong movie because it is a KONG movie. Putting Godzilla in the title (especially first) sets people up into thinking this is a story revolving around him. Take Captain America: Civil War for example. Even though other major characters are in it, it's still a Captain America film! And guess what? You don't need puffy fluffy moments every second for a movie to be fun. People love Godzilla 2014, Kong Skull Island, and even KOTM the most in the MV. Know what movie has been the least favorite thus far by fans? Godzilla v Kong, which tells us that you can't always get away from awfully written characters and plot progression. Sure it's entertaining, but a universe doesn't LAST with ONLY mindless action. The complaints of fans AND critics are completely justified in wanting just a minuscule measure of depth in writing. Criticizing a movie is not a threat to fun Godzilla movies. Take everything you just said and throw it away because none of it even applies to what was said.
@bk7064
@bk7064 6 ай бұрын
@@synical13 You taking my comment in a completely different direction is your problem. And let me ask you something. Has that franchise been successful recently, let alone liked? Yeah thought so. It hasn't been relevant nor liked for years. When a movie like this (centered around Kong) is misleading you with a title, then of COURSE people are gonna be confused. Give Kong his SEPERATE sequel film! Let these characters shine on their own. Goodness calling it Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire makes zero sense. Just call it Kong: The New Empire. Not only does it establish who the story is about, it also doesn't eliminate the idea of Godzilla, getting rid of any confusion. Anyway that's besides the point. What's so difficult to understand that you don't pick character development over monster action. *it's not one or the other!* It's as if you refuse the idea that these movies (notably the last two) SHOULD be improved upon. Something like that is called constructive criticism, and if you ignore it the franchise WON'T LAST. Yall are absolutely ridiculous at times. Lastly, I'm not saying this movie is bad. In fact it features a fantastic world that we love to be in and experience. This movie did improve the development in characters from GvK which is great!

For a long time I have just waited for the audience reviews, those truly reflect the movie's quality, specially when they are the type made for fans. It's very simply, if you're not a fan you'll not enjoy some movies. Edit: also many bad critics just use the "not as good as Minus One" sentence... They are not even the same type of movies, one is center on the human's struggles against an unstoppable force while dealing with a post war era, and the other one is a movie center on big monsters clashing.

The human scenes had a lot of bad sets being blurred out whenever there were shots focused on them and not the landscape. Other than that and the unessential characters getting extra lines the movie was really fun. Visual story telling was peak. I feel like legendary has slowly started leaning away from the apocalyptic feel and more into the chaos/action-packed feel, which isn’t bad but I still miss the old feel. Which is why I’m excited to see minus one eventually, because it goes back to the apocalyptic feel. I loved watching this last night. It was sooo much fun! However, I did have one issue: the poor handling of Skar King and Shimo. They were introduced way too late, imo. We should've been introduced to them by the 30 minute mark, not the hour and ten minute mark. Their limited screen time hurt their presence. We should've had more scenes of Skar King being an oppressive tyrant but also an intelligent force, and Shimo being tortured by him and having flashbacks of her alliance with Godzilla, so it builds up her eventual redemption by the end

I believe godzilla was sort of pointless in this movie as well. If anything they better be setting him up for the next movie with how they changed him because he had a dramatic change but no real impact in the movie. Another thing I noticed is how easily they shifted from a sort of realistic sense of titans to this kinda pacific rim/mcu fiction which i felt to be a bit disappointing in a way. even you can notice godzillas cgi is a bit off in this movie. this was mainly a kong movie but i do however think that kong is easily the best part of this movie and i wish we got to see more of kong and godzillas history in this movie.

I think it's quite obvious that a lot of critics see these films in a very narrow, restricted way - meaning Wingard's entries in particular: The monsters ARE the protagonists. It's beyond obvious the entire narrative in GxKis about Kong's journey - his emotional journey and search for home. He. Is. The. Main. Character. All of the other monsters, even the bit players, have personality to them. I think a lot of critics have a hard time tuning into the fact that the monsters aren't just VFX in action scenes - but CHARACTERS. So when critics say "there is no story or character development" they are demonstrably wrong, because they looking at this film in the most shallow way possible by virtue of it being about giant monsters. Because it's a big, fantastical, pulpy comic book of a film, they immediately look down upon it as lesser. So of course they aren't going to see what's right in front of them. No character development? Kong and Suko go through a whole-ass arc. And although they are mostly for exposition, Dr. Andrews, Jia, and even Bernie have arcs as well. They're just not he main protagonists. KONG IS. Also, can we acknowledge that a LOT of "critics" on RT aren't actually critics in the film-educated sense? They're just casuals with TY channels who only ever glean the surface of anything they watch? Call me a snob, but I don't think people like Emily Wolfe and Jeremy freakin' Jahns should be considered a "film critics." They're just people who kinda like movies as a hobby.

I have some words to say these critics: 1- They love to see some real life drama, super sad things that would make them cry and they would walk out of the movie theater and began yapping, nonstop, how great the movie was, the more suffering they see a human being undergoes the more they like it. 2- In their infinitesimal minds they can't understand supernatural, imagineay characters can and do have their own soul and character to them anything that is not a slice of life is junk and they intentionally go and watch it to come utter bad thing about them, remember the critic from Birdman power of ignorance? In the end, we Godzilla fans will always love Godzilla, we are the ones that create Fantasy stories, movies, and make them great... our world is far more beautiful than their small world, and that 93 percent cab testify on that... I have not watched it yet but I can say it is a wonderful movie and the fact you have given it 8 out of 10 shows how great this movie is. I just hope in the end Godziall is safe for that is the red line for me :)

I knew the reviews were bad going in. I stayed as spoiler free as the trailers would let me. I had real issues with the screenplays of 2014, KOTM, and GvK, and thought the got progressively worse. I went into the film with real trepidation, expecting, as before, that I would have to excuse the bad storytelling just to enjoy the beast beastdowns. I was pleasantly surprised. As the film progressed, I kept checking my watch, wondering when the stupid would finally kick in. It never came, at least not anything remotely as sloppy as was on display in the last two entries.

Allistor, what we need to talk about is how good it was. Talking about negative reviews only feeds them. The human story while not perfect was actually nice and i enjoyed the car more than most other monsterverse films. I really hope dangerville does a video on how well the titan interactions were. I can't be the only person greening blown away by Adam's silent dialog performance. U could feel what the monsters were saying and that was dynamic in a way I've never seen before

Honestly with all due respect alastor you can have any opinion about the movie you want but I don't like how you praised all of the positive reviews and just bashed the negative ones just because they disagreed with what you were saying. Just because the film is "fun" and is made for "Kaiju fans" doesn't absolve the movie of valid criticism. Furthermore "if you didn't like the movie then why did you see it?" Is also a stupid thing to say because you often find things that you like through watching things that you don't like and vice versa. "Don't like, don't watch" is not a valid counter to constructive criticism towards something you like. This should be a lesson that not everyone wants to turn their brains off to enjoy something and that just because what they're saying may SEEM stupid on the surface to some people doesn't invalidate their thoughts. You should form your own opinions around the film but telling people to not listen to certain reviews from other people just because you don't like said reviews is kinda childish in my opinion and only further reinforces a toxic echo chamber filled with nothing but the same thoughts and opinions surrounding a certain topic.

The only problem is the critics didnt even criticize it, they just insulted it and didnt get the idea of what the movie is supposed to be, after Minus One it seems like "every new godzilla film has to be like minus one or it sucks" is the new rule for critics Its been the case with other movies, where fans like it but critics don't and most of the time the reason why critics hate it is because "its not like this or that" or "this is just not my cup of tea and i will paint my opinion as a fact", actual criticism does not mean seeing each and every flaw a movie has and then claiming its the worst movie ever made because it does not satisfy your tastes or lived up to your expectations, good movies can still have flaws too and yet be considered good

There's nothing wrong with criticism, but if the criticism boils down to *this isn't minus 1* then it's not valid or fair criticism. I liked the movie but it had issues. Mainly, the lack of a proper day-in-the-life sequence made the entire 1st act super jarring. Once we got to the second act it stopped being a problem tho. The other issue is just how dumb the explanation for the glove was. Like, it just so happened to have anti frost bite juice? Aside from that tho, I really liked it. I think it's both hilarious and bad ass how the entire movie, Godzilla would just nap, wake up, beat some ass, and take another nap. Seeing the Kaijus be actual characters with actual personalities and relationships with each other was great. Id definitely give it another watch

It just proves the “critics” are bad at their jobs. Because the entire point of the “critics” is to give an accurate depiction of if the movie is good or not. If they did their job right the critic score should be in the ballpark of the actual viewer score. But 56-93 is no where close. I agree with some of the critics honestly. Overall its a fun film..... however it doesnt feel like a godzilla film. Kaiju film sure but it just feels too over the top and wonky. Its hard to take serious. You can tell its for sure geared towards kids. Growing up on the hesei era and showa era i grew up with more of a serious tone godzilla movie. (Yes even this film makes the showa era feel serious.) I do appreciate some of the callbacks though. Like ghidorahlover64 which is a call back to GTHM 1st appearance. I miss the early days of the legendary monsterverse... they were more serious toned, Even Godzilla vs Kong had a more serious tone. A fun movie, but hard to see where they can go next with it.

I tend to divide the MV into 3: 2014 = dark, almost horror, 'realistic' (You take it seriously) KOTM-KSI = epic, more eventful (you can take it seriously) GVK-GXK = off scale, ridiculous, sci-fi (you cant take it seriously) The first 3 films for me are top, each one with its flaws (especially the characters) but each one with its great values Gvk and Gxk I just find them embarrassing, exaggerated, I can't stand them honestly.

I liked the movie, if only you could remove all the painfully annoying humans and stick to the monsters. And yes, it's contrived, Kong uses baby Kong as a baton, yet baby Kong is still in one piece, Kong gets a infected tooth, snap a made to measure tooth arrives, Kong hurts his arm, snap a mech arm arrives. I can see how the critics would hate it, but anything with Godzilla is a win. I did however enjoy Minus one, best movie of the year.

Ok so here's my take, the plot of Godzilla X Kong did leave many viewers with mixed reactions. At its core, the plottelling fell short, though other technical aspects soared. To begin, the film's action sequences were phenomenally executed. Director Adam Wingard opted for extensive hand-to-hand combat between the towering titans, ratcheting up suspense and excitement to immense levels. The spectacle of seeing Godzilla and Kong physically clash on an epic scale had audiences at the edge of their seats. Also the visual effects work, or VFX, was astoundingly realized. Bringing these iconic monsters to roaring, breathing life amid detailed environments is no small feat, yet Industrial Light and Magic accomplished it stunningly. Godzilla and Kong were rendered with photo-realistic texture, scale and enormity to immerse the viewer in their world. However, it was the plotline that proved most divisive. While intriguing concepts around human hubris disrupting natural order were embedded, the narrative lacked cohesion and nuance. Crucial backstories felt glossed over or omitted entirely. Showing Kong and Godzilla as even larger-than-life to accentuate the horror aspect, akin to 2014's Godzilla, could have elevated tensions and stakes. And then, the human characters, existing solely to propel the monster mayhem, failed to compellingly engage or develop. They served primarily as expositional devices rather than fully formed characters. More carefully crafted human subplots may have better balanced massive action with grounded emotion. While Godzilla X Kong soared in technical achievements like its trademark scaly showdowns, opportunities were missed in weaving a tighter script. With refinement of plot and people, it could have reached greater heights for both kaiju and storytelling fans.
