Update for everyone!! It appears that Sephora/Saie's site has listed the ingredients in alphabetical order vs by concentration. So grateful to Jennifer's comment letting me know, you guys are so great. I did reach out to Saie yesterday but haven't heard back from them quite yet. Though I still feel good about the ingredients and performance of the product, I do feel mislead by the way these ingredients were listed. I will update this if I hear back--- Ingredients listed by concentration- Water / Aqua / Eau, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Trioctyldodecyl Citrate, Glycerin, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyhydroxystearate, Polyester-7, Mica, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Squalane, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla) Fruit Extract, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Magnesium Stearate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Trihydroxystearin, Polyglycerin - 6, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Stearic Acid, Tocopherols, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Polyglutamic Acid. [+/- May Contain/ Peut Contenir: Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77492, Ci 77499, Ci 77491)]

I love this foundation. The shades run dark, so go down a few from normal. The longevity isn't great but it is VERY forgiving on mature skin. I'm shade 100 in Haus labs and shade 4 in Saie is a good match for me (even though it is cool and I am neutral)

I’m not a makeup chemist but having been inspecting ingredients for over a decade, I’m pretty sure that you cannot have an extract on its own. It would need to be diluted by *a lot* of water (or whatever is the appropriate solvent). IIRC marshmallow extract is water soluble because it’s often used in wavy/curly hair gel products. It’s almost impossible I think to not have water as base. Unless it’s a solid balm I guess.
@emmalarsson8291 Жыл бұрын
You're right. The extract is probably made up of mostly water and some glycerin, plus a couple of percent marshmallow. So it's water-based, but since the extract is considered an ingredient on it's own in the INCI system, and this is the main constituent, it will be listed first. INCI lists are complex. I am a chemist and I suspect this to be the case. Concentrated extract would be impossible as a first ingredient, and I think that's great. It would not be good for the skin to use concentrated extracts.
@mahshidkeramatnejad9627 Жыл бұрын
I'm a chemist and can say that this seems accurate. Extracts on their own are way too concentrated. Maybe it's a grey area with ingredients list? Pretty sure the concentrations in the molarity form or even percentage style aren't typically in the ingredients lists (formulation secrets I suppose?)
@Jen-if2it Жыл бұрын
@@mahshidkeramatnejad9627 they listed the ingredients in alphabetical order on their website, not descending order of quantity as required by the FDA. Hopefully they followed the rules on the actual packaging of the product, but they need to fix the website because it's extremely misleading.

I wanted to try this foundation but it contains polyester-7 which is a micro plastic pretty high up (top half)in the ingredients list and can’t fathom why they’d put that in there. I haven't tried this one yet and may try it. Between this and the Neutrogena serum foundation, which would be your go-to? I recently watched a video where you talked about the Neutrogena in comparison to the Kosas and it piqued my interest. I bet the Saie recommends this application method to give it it's best chance of not pilling, considering the ingredients list. Looks beautiful though. Thank you! Side note: try Auric's potted lip balm. You'll probably never want a different one. It is 100% worth it in my opinion.

While the shade range does go from fairly light to fairly deep, I can't help but notice how much more nuanced and incremental the options are from 1-25 compared to the last set. Look at the difference in how shades 10-18 progress in terms of getting deeper compared to just the first four on the right arm? Come on! I say this as someone who would be hesitant to order the lightest shade because it might be too dark for me. While I can count on one hand the foundations I've found that perfectly match me, it is quite easy to find one that I can make work, adjusting undertone with a colour corrector or bronzing up my neck. Imagine being between shades 32 and 33- you would really struggle to make that work! It is so much harder for women of colour to find their shades than for people on the other side of the spectrum. And how many thousands of customers are they missing out on by de-prioritising shades for Black women? Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just sharing my disappointment, I don't mean anything against your video!

I absolutely love the Haus Labs foundation but I'm biased, Gaga promoted that launch on her TikTok with my friend's audio. That being said, I find that the consistency works really well for me and the undertone was a great match so I've been using that foundation for special occasions. I have oily skin and it stays on a good 6 hours before oils start coming through, which compares to a lot of foundations I've tried. Everyone I've seen trying the Saie serum foundation that loves it seems to have dry and/or sensitive skin, which I think is even more difficult to satisfy imo. Hoping that they create something similar with ingredients for oily/combo.

Who is relying on foundation for skincare in 2023? I’m skeptical about skincare benefits in foundations. I have a very specific need in skincare due to the actives I look for/choose to use. If I’m lucky the foundation ingredients work with my skincare. Most of the time I think they’re redundant. I also ask myself how much of these skincare ingredients in foundations are absorbed into my skin after my full skincare routine including sunscreen. I much rather have a bare-ingredients foundation without actives that just performs well, like the MAC and Dior face and body foundations.
