No, you shouldn’t be able to play all games on everything, as that would render video game consoles completely redundant. There would be no point to own a video game console, as there would be nothing unique about them. Such a mentality would only be a “good thing” to people who vehemently despise video game consoles as a concept and are hoping for some kind of console extinction so that everyone plays on PC, despite the fact that not everyone can afford a gaming PC. I play on both PC and on console, and I like the competition; I like the unique systems and the different experiences which they provide. I am very dissatisfied with the ninth generation since they give me no reason to actually upgrade because they have practically no games and aren’t very unique, and if console exclusive games were to disappear then that would kill the console market within a generation, which would be very bad for the video game industry. Consoles are becoming more and more expensive, and the death of exclusives would effectively cause the console market to wither away as many people will want to save up more for a PC than buy a very limited box with no games. However, as PCs are also expensive and computer components are becoming more expensive too, this could result in less people playing video games to begin with. Consoles are a good thing for the video game market as a whole, even if the current generation is deeply flawed. I should also add that there are many more games exclusive to PC and the many digital storefronts that are available on a computer, yet people seem to largely ignore those and there are less calls for PC exclusive games to come to console than the other way around.

An Xbox handheld that is basically a handheld Windows PC but actually has a hadheld mode/console interface like the Steam Deck. This way they would have Windows compatibility but with an Xbox style interface. this would be a cool idea (basically an Xbox interface with in Windows 11 or a future version of Windows).

But over time I've agreed I always tend to lean more to doing things alone if I can or if it's a multi-player thing then do it with people I trust not to fuck stuff up if I'm trying to progress. One thing I will say personally is I've been grinding warframe to pieces (solo mind you) and only recently came back to Skyrim and rekindled my love for it again. I used to play it all the time and I don't know why I really stopped for so long bit I'm glad to be back. And you want to be a game dev? That's great! I don't get it either man. I remember when Minecraft was coming to Switch and not too long after, Nintendo had that crossplay trailer with Xbox. I don't even care about Minecraft (or multiplayer games, at all) and I was happy to see that. Exclusive games are good for the console manufacturers. That is a fact. Check the current generation consoles. The Switch is above everything with its ton of exclusives out there. PS5 is second, with a few exclusives, while Xbox is just only around 25 M units for both the series S and X (estimate, based on details from developers). They currently have no exclusives at all. I think they should do at least a few exclusive games so that people can have a reason to buy a specific console to give value to that hardware.

The clear solution for Xbox is to create a uniform Gaming OS which is shared by the consoles and PC. In fact, they need to give us a PC in which we will have access to both library (xbox one, X,S and PC) on the same machine. Then they need to release that gaming OS to any device such as PC, laptop, rog ally, legion go, etc. Finally, on Mobile you have the same OS but its running on Cloud while having native mobile games from their studios. If they do that they effectively combines all of their customers under the same roof with a unique Gaming OS and unique gaming stores with our digital purchases and future one.

Microsoft spent 100 billion dollars on Xbox with the expectations that they'd make that 100 billion back within a limited time frame and then from then on out it's a return on their investment. In FY 2021 and 2022 they missed the 75% gamepass growth expectations by aproximately 50%. The purchase of ABK brings up Xboxs revenue up by 61%, most of which comes from PlayStation which probably has Microsofts higher ups and investors asking Xbox why they dont sell more games on PlayStation. Microsoft isnt going to just take losses year after year with Xbox and be happy with it. Microsoft has killed off plenty of products before, and they'll do it again if they dont start making profit margins that they're happy with.

I'm against GamePass because of its digital push in the console space. I know pc gamers already have been bound to digital gaming and i know that a digital only future (seems) to be the future. But i don't know why people are so happy that they won't own any of their games anymore. And yes, i know "owning" you games nowadays is not (always) the same, depending on the game. But if you look at some online game stores, that close or some publishers removing your game because of licenses that aren't updated anymore. That's honestly what scares me the most personally. 3:21 I never thought Xbox was RIP in the sense they will go the way of sega. Sega didn’t have an OS on every PC around the world either. But Microsoft makes PC’s. Microsoft makes home consoles. Just like Nintendo merged their home console and mobile divisions together to streamline their hardware business allowing them to make games for just one platform (a strategy that worked beyond anyone’s wildest dreams) Microsoft might want to make one version of the game for PC and allow that game to work on Xbox. There is no real reason why this shouldn’t be possible. And if they do this then Alienware could make an Xbox. They license the “Xbox Branded Windows UI” and make an affordable gaming system that is designed strictly for games. You can’t run Adobe on it. It’s not made for a keyboard. And it’s designed to connect to your TV. Or maybe MSI wants to make an Xbox handheld. Compete with Steam Deck (BTW they already do this) now MSI can make an Xbox branded handheld. Opening this up and making extra money from the licensing fees for the “Xbox Windows” is perfect. And it allows all of Xbox various studios make one game that will work on any PC and any Xbox console no matter where you buy it from. Saving them money and time. And then if they want to port a game to another platform and it makes sense (IE Call of Duty) then so be it. You can still make the PC version and then port that to PS5/Switch 2. Or even co develop at the same time in that particular case due to legal agreements they have. And Phill even said the time in between releases is killing them. Nintendo had the same problem. It makes sense Microsoft will implement the same solution. Thus no Xbox hardware isn’t going away. It’s just changing and evolving. The problem with XBox is that you can watch their game show and just about guarantee 9 out of 10 of them will be cancelled. It's hard to get hyped for vaporware. Maybe after the PS5 they'll go full on PC, but pS6 will be their last console generation and then we'll see streaming only. Consoles are really only practical with physical media, once that's dead, you may as well just have a PC but once digital only is the normal, I'm lit, I have a huge backlog by then to play and catch up on. Tbh, making their games multi platform doesn’t matter if they’re not making good games. I’m not even talking about Single Player vs Multiplayer games, the Xbox games we just not up to par with even third party games. The big highlight in the past 3 years outside of Forza Horizon 5 is Flight Simulator and Hi-Fi Rush. If exclusives even launch a year after the Xbox version, there is no point in buying Xbox hardware if only the PS5 or PS5 Pro will give me both Playstation and Xbox exclusives. The Xbox hardware will only give me Xbox games. I think Microsoft going 3rd party will make them a boatload of cash. So I agree the "Xbox brand" isn't going anywhere. But the Xbox console will basically be extinct. Now I could see Microsoft building a handled console that is basically a Steam Deck competitor. But what's the point of manufacturing your own console hardware when hardware is sold at a loss. Just sell on PC, PlayStation, and Switch 2 and make all the profits you want, and don't waste time making a console that nobody will buy. It will just cut into proffits.

@@chadwolf3840 It's actually 70% on other people's consoles. By getting that 70% on their combined portfolio they will earn a lot more money. Sony and Nintendo each have roughly 290-300 million active consoles combined (last gen + this gen). Microsoft has roughly 65-75 million active consoles. Sony, Nintendo, and MS used to be playing the same game. Make 70% on your own games on one platform, and then make 30% on all the other 3rd party games on your platform too. If you have a highly selling platform it's a lot of money. MS now has so many games, due to acquisitions, that selling them only on a distant 3rd place system will post a huge loss every year just due to developer upkeep costs. If they only put out games on XBOX and Game Pass they would lose roughly half of the Bethesda, Activision and Blizzard money those companies/units made before acquisition (King would be unaffected). So as a business wanting to make a profit on their investments they have to go for the 70% on other platforms and smaller bit of 30% on their own. This is a good thing if you're an MS investor or MS executives. It's a good thing if you're a Playstation of Nintendo console owner. It's only a bad thing if you've chosen XBOX console hardware as your one-and-only gaming system. To be fair a lot of people can only afford one system per generation, so I have a lot of empathy for those people. The next generation is likely only 3 years away. The dust will have settled on this, so they'll get to make a more informed choice then. But I get it, it sucks right now. I think what this implicitly says - if true, of course, but I think it's true simply mathematically - is that XBOX's plans for coming to parity or beyond with Sony and Nintendo through their consoles and Game Pass has not worked and executives above the XBOX team don't believe it will ever work. Xbox continues to undersell both competitors by 50% and the FTC trial showed that Game Pass subscriptions have been relatively flat for two years. The strategy was a bold one, a commendable one, but it didn't work.

Xbots are so overly dramatic, over essentially, nothing. The absolute worst case scenario is, MS has a few games, cross over other platforms. That's it. How does that affect the Xbox? Still got Game Pass, the studios, and the future games, no matter where else they may land. What exactly is the issue then? Nothing really changes for anyone who has an Xbox. The whole exclusivity thing? I doubt that's going away for bigger games. Even if by some crazy circumstance, it does....so what? Xbots don't care about the games Sony put out, so they aren't missing anything. MS has the capital to keep the Xbox division alive and well. The brand will be fine.

I bought a Series X because some games bought at the Microsoft Store can be played on both PC and console, and I only pay for the game once. Also, Amazon had the Series X 1TB for $350, so based on your Ultimate Xbox Video on the Austin channel, I got a good deal. Since I use more my laptop than the Xbox, having the Xbox is ideal for me. As for Playstation, games are coming out on PC, so I'll just wait. Just hoping for Ghosts of Tsushima to finally reach PC since I'm not going to buy a Playstation just to play that game. Game Pass doesn't work for me because of what and how I play. I mostly play single player games, and mainly stay at a single game until I finish it. I have little time to play, so if I were to pay $15 a month to play a single game, I wouldn't see the benefit of just buying it. I just wait till they're on sale.

@@vitolibido Nintendo didn't become the number one game company of all time by letting other consoles have their games, and in fact nearly screwed everything up with the notorious Phillips deal of the mid-90s. They learned very quickly what apparently only one other tech company - Apple - seems to have learned: if you go into hardware, you make sure your first-party software and support _has_ to be the killer app. You buy Apple devices to use Apple software because Apple software is worth using and Apple software can only run on Apple devices. You buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo's games because Nintendo's games are worth playing and Nintendo's games can only be played on Nintendo consoles.

MLB The Show is on Xbox. Not sure if people remember that. Granted I think that was more the MLB saying hey we want this all over. No sports game should be exclusive. Racing fans more then anything I feel would welcome Forza and GT on both systems. Same with Fighting games. (Was Pissed when SF was PS4 Exclusive) SoF makes sense to go to PS, and Switch. More players the better. Things like Flight Simulator should be on PS5 as well, no one will care. The people who play those tend to be hard core on PC with it anyway. Blade is too cartoonish for me to care. Call of duty & GTA are what casuals buy, that's nothing new, same with Madden & NBA. We have Ragnorak, Returnal, FF7, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2, The Last of Us, Spiderman 2, xxbox doesn't even have any games I'd consider buying except Stalker 2 & state of decay......neither of which are out anytime soon. Ive been a game for my entire life. Im 36. I’ve owned most consoles over the years. Back when the og Xbox came out, it blew my mind. I instantly gravitated towards that. Then from there to the 360 and even Xbox one, I was mostly an Xbox gamer. Now, I owned other consoles, but this gen, I sold my series x once I got the ps5.

Why are people against gamepass? Because a subscription model will always eventually fail. Companies want constant growth, they'll run out of people to get to subscribe and then they'll start raising prices, putting in ads, setting device limits, all the things Netflix has been doing for years.

Xbox isn’t going away. Exclusives will also never go away. Xbox does need to push to keep some absolute exclusivity for some of their titles (especially for ones coming from studios they own) because it’s what will attract people to adopt their consoles. No matter how much people want to fanboy about their chosen platform, everyone needs to accept that exclusives drive business for all these companies. It’s also a good idea for console makers to make some of their titles available on other platforms because it’s also smart business. Especially if those titles are multiplayer or benefit from that option. Bottom line is people need to stop being biased and realize that we are all lucky to be gamers in this day and age because of the amount of options we all have access to no matter the types of games you enjoy!!

hey guys... my take and speculation on what would be best for team Xbox would be to take the series s and make it handheld with the same specs except the APU switch for the Z1 extreme by AMD instead. pair it with an OLED screen, Dolby Atmos, and the Xbox OS. perfect handheld console. I believe it would mitigate the developer's issues too

I can understand why people would be upset at the idea of games going to other platforms even though they aren't losing the ability to play those games. Most people can only afford to game on one platform, so the decider as to which console to buy is where your friends are playing AND most importantly what exclusives do they have. If I was an Xbox owner and all those exclusives went to Sony.. I'd be pissed the eff off because I might as well have bought a PS5 then! We are at a point where hardware is advancing at a quicker pace than quality software can be developed that takes advantage of it. I'm sorry, but the very last thing on my mind is a PS6 or a newer Xbox console, when we are 3 years in this console generation with barely a handful of games that you could truly call "next gen". If there are timed exclusives i hope they dont tell us it's coming to other platforms till it's ready. I hate how sony basically tells u it's coming to PC on the fine print. In this case more information is kinda doing the opposite effect. Why not make it seem like it is ps exclusive even if its coming to PC later? It wont affect buyers who already want to play a certain/cant wait and only assist in creating expectations of maybe or maybe not. Even if people start to get into the habit of expecting PS exclusives if we dont know when then it doesnt feel as bad buying a console to play cuz who knows how long it will take. I like the fact that this video is just so down to earth and not having bias opinion on this rumours. I have seen people getting rid of their consoles based on rumours. It is ridiculous. Tribalism among players as long as "console wars" is insane. I like both of my consoles and to be honest, more games for more people if Xbox is going to publish their games on other consoles. I don't understand how the fact that a game is being ported to a "rival console" will hurt Xbox in general. Xbox (Microsoft) owns the game. If its sold on rival consoles, they make more money. If they put gamepass on other consoles, they make more money. Either way is a win-win situation economically speaking, and I don't think that either a shareholders and/or stockholders would be pissed off as long as this is a money making decision. Personally I like to play on my Xbox, and use the PS5 mainly for COD because that is where most of my friends are. In general I prefer Xbox consoles rather than PS. Additionally, Playstation customer service is bottom trash and their refund policy.

As an avid Xbox fan, I don't think the problem lies in hardware for Microsoft... I'm at the point where prettier is just not what I want from my games I want playability and that's where Xbox has taken a hit. Sony has so many good replayable single player games and Xbox has essentially none... They need to get their gaming division under control before they even put thought into next Gen hardware. That said if I was a PS5 user and a Pro model came out right now? I'd be absolutely pissed. This generation has been hard to obtain, and just a poor experience for end users all around, to bring out a new pro line right now I think would frustrate users, especially if there's another shortage/scalping problem. That said, as a non PS person who has really been eyeing up their single player library... I'd consider buying a pro and I'd almost certainly pick up a regular PS5 if the pro drops the regular console's price. That said, I need a good, Xbox style controller that is preferably wireless, for me to consider a PS5. I can't stand the PlayStation controller. Anyone have a suggestion? Lol

Ok, one thing is that gamepass is on Playstation and Nintendo and another thing is that they put the games natively on those platforms. Let me explain, if you put gamepass on Playstation or Nintendo, it would be great because either way they would have to buy the Xbox gamepass service and play them from there. But if they put them native, Xbox literally loses its identity since you can buy them in the Playstation store or Nintendo store. But if it's just gamepass, you just pay for the service and play them there, nothing more.

Personally, I don't see the point of an Xbox handheld with the existence of Windows handhelds. Microsoft makes money from Windows on them AND the Xbox app gives the users access to their ecosystem. Why waste money on building the hardware for it if A) People are already doing it for them B) all the money is made in software If they did do that, I feel like it would HAVE to be super cheap to lure people away from the handheld PCs

I like PlayStation the most because of hardware and it's library of games. Exclusives, as good as they are or aren't, are really just bonus for me. I used to prefer Nintendo over PlayStation when the PS1 launched, not because of Nintendo exclusives but I was already familiar with Nintendo more than anyone else and thought they had the best library of games untill PlayStation came out. I soon realized that games I wanted to play, were on PS1 but not N64 (exclusive or not) I prefer PlayStation for it's library of games and it's hardware first. Exclusive is more of a bonus for me.

Your argument on "Why give Nintendo/Sony/etc the 30% cut when MS can take that money and develop hardware for their own portable hardware" has a counter point where I think that it might benefit MS more than it cost them to partner with another company and their current portable platform. The following is a hypothetical scenario that see MS partner with Asus to have integrated Xbox games on the ROG Ally (and future new hardware versions). Why ROG Ally? Well, why not? I don't think that Valve would want to partner up with MS. Same for Nintendo. Ayaneo/etc outfits are maybe a bit too small. Assuming that there are no complicated agreement on revenue sharing on purchases made off the ROG Ally (i.e. via MS store on PC, via Xbox, etc) MS getting money through their own storefront means that they collect all the revenue. It would be a bit like what is happening right now with Gamer Pass streaming on the ROG Ally (Asus doesn't get a cent of that Gamer Pass Streaming money). Right now Asus do not appear to have their own digital storefront for selling games, and the ROG Ally relies on their users installing third p[arty launchers, manually installing their own games, etc. Having a close brand to Xbox games, and having an integrated software client in the Win11 install out of the box, they could maybe grab cut of the digital purchases pie (a very small sliver and based on very complex criteria for what would apply or not), and would sell more ROG Ally units. Asus could even benefit if MS can finally get some real dev work on making improvements to Win11 for handheld, and the ROG Ally + Xbox handheld gets exclusive access to handheld Win11 UI. Having said that. MS have a large pool of talented people who design portable hardware (Surface devices), they have deep contacts at AMD. They should be able to design a handheld, if the shareholders would allow them.
