I think it's this strain of Political Zionism that has caused this ongoing catastrophe for the past 100 years. The belief that there MUST be a Jewish state in Palestine. It is Israel who insists on linking Israel to Judaism. If you oppose Zionism or disapprove of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians you are seen as antisemitic, ie hating Jewish people. The Jews who oppose Israel are called self-hating Jews. It is as if Israel and Judaism are the same thing. In fact one is a state, the other is a religion. While Israel denies the return of the Palestinians to their land, any person of Jewish heritage is encouraged to get Israeli citizenship and settle in Israel, if they choose to, even if they have no previous connection to the land.
