Wow….that was a powerful scene. You could feel Mike’s love for his mother-in-law; you could feel Edith’s grief and feeling lost. Mike had some powerful words as an atheist. Archie, for his part, displayed his desire to give thanks to the Lord even though he wasn’t very eloquent. A very moving scene ❤️

Absolutely! Having Mike leave Gloria to join a commune was just nuts and undermined all the growth in their relationship up to that point. It would have been better for him to die at a protest rally or even from illness. That would've left the love and trust intact and made Gloria a better spinoff.

No. He was an Atheist. He said that he was and espoused the non-beliefs of Atheists. Also, Norman Lear said that Mike was an Atheist. Just because you don’t want to both love a show and yet be associated with a show in which a main character is an Atheist, does NOT give you the right to re-write the world around you. If you say you’re a Christian we won’t question it. So, you shouldn’t question someone who calls themselves Atheist or anything else. No one needs you in their business.
